Brandon and I traded cars for a couple days so I got the opportunity to live with the brand new 2021 Audi RS6 Avant! As a former 2016 RS7 owner, I have been quite excited to try out the latest generation of this platform, especially the wagon body style that is finally available in America. Having driven the new RS7 already, the RS6 is essentially an identical experience. The same 4.0L twin turbo V8, same 8 speed ZF transmission, same interior finish and technology, and just a wagon bodystyle. Finished in a stunning Navarra Blue with the upgraded 22" wheels, the RS6 is an amazing blend of aggression, practicality and just flat out awesome. Saw a white one, with a black and white camo cargo carrier, at Crystal Mtn. ski resort in WA state, parked in the mud, was being used. It was driving behind me on the way home, and then passed. It sounded amazing. Its is nice and deep, very smooth, but not obnoxiously loud. Sound was perfection, IMO.

Press the start/stop button first, select your RS mode, depress the brake & press the start/stop button again. Valves stay open, sounds better from the off.

This was 22 minutes well spent. I would love this “land yacht”. The white Q you passed after the AMG towards the end probably glanced over and now have buyer’s remorse lol. As a big skier, I’m curious how well this would do in New England winters? Definitely need to swap out the stock summer tires. Drooling as I dream.

Nothing better to drive safely and in style to a ski resort. You have the true Quattro all wheel drive system which is arguably the best of them all providing endless grip in all conditions. You will probably get scared and slow down before the car reaches its limit. Keep the summer set for summer as they give you proper performance in the appropriate season and buy a set of smaller proper UHP winter set for the cold season. Something like a Continental Wintersport or Michelin Pilot Alpin and you're good to go be it snow or slush.

Seems like a great cannon ball car. Would love to have one with the smaller wheels and replace all the RS6 badges with A6 badges. Pretty popular for people to do that in Europe when it comes to RS/S Audis.

Depends on financial situation and how long you want to keep it. A big advantage of leasing is not paying sales tax on the entire vehicle price. But if you're going to keep it 5-7 years, buying can also be a good idea

get an e or s class with 48v system. unlike the 48v system on an audi, the mercedes version is not belt driven and actually eliminates belts

The RS6 comes standard with 'RS tuned' air suspension and Audi does not list an option or package that includes either traditional or magnetic suspension so I would assume yes.

@@EddieX I drive the A6 50TDI and I totally agree with you. The 4Wheel steering is so intelligent so its helping at low and high speeds. The only negative point is at taking pictures of it, you dont want to have the wheels turned. It always looks like its broken XD Fun fact, ours is navara blue with black details aswell and I think its one of the best colours for this car. Really like the spec, except of the wheels (I know you cant get black wheels for some reason), but I think they wont stay anyway. Love your car

I only need a certain Crypto coin to finally move up, and then I will be owner of an RS4,RS6, RS5 or M4. On my wishlist is as well a 1968 Ford Mustang. But that one has to wait. Audi decided that you can not. Open valves on start up. But you can get a bypass switch. More makes are doing in EU. Because of noise pollution.

Aftermarket exhaust or delete something for a cheaper solution should do the trick.

No, but they can make it sound better with downpipes and exhaust. Check out Savage Garages RS6 - it’s already Stage 2 with over 750 HP. They have a Stage 3 coming soon. The exhaust valves close immediately automatically upon cold start until the car is warmed up. Watch Savage Garage for more info on the exhaust.

Cool video Eddie. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way- I was super excited for this rs6 to show up in the US again after all these years. Don’t get me wrong, the looks and the tech is KILLER! Superb. However, it’s not fast enough for this class of cars. And the exhaust note is also extremely weak in this segment. The cold start was just 🤦🏻♂️ Moreover, the 4 wheel steering is nothing new- my bimmer’s dynamic steering package has that already and it indeed does make a large car turn real small and nimble (it’s a 2018). Overall, I thought this would be the perfect car and the only car you’d ever need . I am definitely a little disappointed. Thanks for the review !

Great video... I used to be a huge fan of the RS6 avant, until I found out it weighs 5000 pounds...Granted it’s a sedan, a BMW M5, with more power, weighs a hair under 4400 pounds, with equal build quality, desirability, tech, etc.

Not sure where 5000lbs comes from? the Kerb weight is circa 2070kg, or 4563lbs... Its definitely heavier than before... Ive come from an M5 Comp into an RS6... Yes the M5 is a little quicker stock, and is more focused to drive... with better turn in off centre... but the build quality, fit finish, design etc are not in the same league... the M5 still has the old centre dash design with cheap plastic inserts and buttons (unlike the new 3/4/8 and X5/6, which has the newer far higher quality interior)... The Audi is literally built like a vault, is way smoother and better as a daily... I had major gearbox and reliability issues in the M5 too... I have subsequently tuned the RS6, and added an Akrapovic exhaust... its good for 800bhp+ and does 6 seconds 62-124 and 2.8 (2.6) 0-100km/h(60mph)... Street presence of an RS6 is also in a different league...and in Europe its the halo family car of sorts.

At least all that tech isn't overstyled. MMI is fast without any lags and also informative, easy to read information from. Now I'm comparing with Merc... horrible menus super overstyled with color and animation, thus it's lagging which is really annoying

That was f**king HILARIOUS, LOL!!!🤣🤣🤣 Brother, go back to 10:10 and watch your face carefully. The color of your face ABSOLUTELY changed along with the acceleration of the car perfectly!! I loved that, lol. The most obvious things to make that sort of thing happen are embarrassment, anxiety, or excitement and it’s pretty damn obvious it was excitement. Nop, the E63s has a much more aggressive gearbox/launch control, which makes it faster even though it has almost the same power (the merc has 12 hp more) The E63s is generally a more track oriented car while the RS6 is more biased towards comfort
