pure heroine is like that sadness of feeling disconnected and isolated, heard only in small places and darker corners of the world. melodrama is that uneasy, anxiety-ridden sorrow at love and loss, the bright, jarring light shining down on you as you tear up at a party solar power is that sadness where you reflect, feel happiness, catharsis, deeply know what that sorrow is but can put a smile on after the tears are gone. the warm comforting hug that PH did not know the existence of and that melodrama desperately wanted.

Being just recently 26, this song just gets me. Ribs is still one of my favourite Lorde songs, as it is probably everyone’s. But it does feels like I was just 15 yesterday wondering about the rest of my life and I blinked now I’m here. What I love about this song most though is it feels like late night talks with your older sister when she comes home for Christmas or something and she’s just giving you advice on growing up. Like hold on but also don’t let these years pass you by.
