There was another crazy sliced backhand down the line they didn't show that went straight into Shelton's corner. Shelton's forehand was powerful, but Musetti's backhand had so much touch, he was able to control balls with it so well!

Numero uno, forse no, ma tranquillamente nei primi dieci, basta che torna a giocare ai suoi massimi livelli … in Italia, insieme a Berrettini, e’ uno di quello che ha mostrato di poter tenere testa anche a Sinner, Alcaraz, Djokovic, Mdevedev, pertanto qualsiasi altra posizione dietro di loro e’ possibile. Anzi sto vedendo crescere molto bene anche Arnaldi, Nardi, Darderi e Cobolli, che, ricordo, sono tutti giovanissimi (20-23 anni massimo), e che non sono, in prospettiva, da meno. Credo che stiamo giungendo ad avere un gruppo di almeno 7 italiani, potenzialmente, tutti da primi 15 in classifica. Non mi meraviglierei di vedere entro l’anno in corso, Sinner numero uno, Berrettini e Musetti nei quindici e gli altri 4, tutti nei primi trenta, se continuano su questi livelli di crescita tecnica, agonistica, di personalità e motivazione, grinta e impegno.

Musetti won 70% of points on second serve because Shelton was so bad. Highlights tell next to nothing of how a match actually went.

@@huzcer I watched the match myself. Of course there were some mistakes by Musetti (also Federer did mistakes during his matches). But the difference between the 2 players was overwhelming, more that then final score can witnesses. Musetti generally won very easily his games on serve, while Shelton had to struggle a lot. Musetti is a great and talented tennis player, arguably among the 5 best in the tour. Alcaraz? Yes at the moment he is superior, but I am sure he still remembers the tennis lesson that Musetti gave him in Hamburg 2 years ago. Please, do not cry if Musetti will give him a second tennis lesson tomorrow. Tennis is only a game for us who watch the matches (not for then professionals who play tennis): you should take it easier and relax (and grow up?).

If Musetti is on court, you can be sure of one thing: the match is gonna be really entertaining. Since the ITF Juniors, I knew this guy would be an accomplished player. He has already changed his posture, he is much more centered. With a little bit of mental strength, he will become an unstoppable beast.

But the best demonstration of bh in a point in the last 12 months was Djokovic hammering Medvedev repeatedly into the left corner to the point of failure on that big point in the US open in the second set. fair with shelton, he was grounded before and seems he learned a lesson. Mussetti gave a warmer handshake Carlos in their match, but mussetti is also way above shelton in the defeat as well.

His first really big win in a while…only one break point conceded, generated break chances against Shelton’s big serve, consistent at the baseline and solid at the net. Good speed and now has better ball placement. Also, the high-risk shotmaking is on display here, and it really paid off! Hope Musetti doesn’t revert to his default defensive state against Carlos, he will be taken apart if he does. If Musetti trusts his shots, serves well, and has that magic backhand firing, his match against Carlos could be match of the tournament!

Partita spettacolare! 😍 Una qualità ed un ritmo di gioco da top 3! Sarebbe interessante vedere in finale un derby con Sinner perché questa seconda facile vittoria avrà portato a Lorenzo molta stima nel suo gioco, il che lo rende un avversario ostico per chiunque in questo torneo e con Sinner per ora ha sempre preso grandi schiaffi!
