I live in AOC's district and one thing I'll say for her is that she's PRESENT in the district. A lot of the small business owners I've talked to have met her because she makes a point to visit local small businesses when she's here (which is surprisingly often for a congressperson). Her office is great at responding to questions and checking back in with people who've reached out, and they're super helpful, especially regarding immigration. There are definitely issues, but overall my interactions with people who've met or reached out to her have all been positive, and the people I've talked to here tend to feel pretty well supported.

@~29:00, there was a homeless guy in my neighborhood named Tony who was an alcoholic and a crack addict. Once he finally got his housing voucher and we moved him into his new apartment it made all the difference in the world. A year later and he had gotten clean and was working again. If we actually want to solve the problem instead of just punishing people, housing people first is the way to go.

Bro I had to check myself into a psych hospital for a few days because I was having anxiety attacks because my partner died in front of me. Then I did a 10 day outpatient program. The Gavin Newsom tiny house idea is basically just homeless shelters 2.0, now with some privacy. You have to eventually leave though, so it isn't housing it is just sheltering people. The idea of making better homeless shelters is a good idea but it doesn't solve the problem of homelessness, it's like switching from a tiny band aid to a cloth bandage on a huge open knife wound. It's definitely better but still requires a lot more attention.

However, I have never been there, because it's not _for_ the rabble like you and me. It's about $500+ a plate per person (at the lowest), reservations are required 6-12 months in advance and are usually sold out, being secured through back channels by management teams, PR firms, EAs, etc. Newsom coming into the French Laundry (while it was CLOSED by state order under HIM lmfao) while my family and friends were dying of COVID really put it in a clear perspective for me. You see, Newsom comes from a food & beverage background, and he owns a winery my dad worked at for about 8 years when I was a kid. He is not a friend of the working class, as you rightly pointed out, he is a talking head with an eye for culture wars and neoliberal framework. To his credit, he is one of the reasons I turned from the democratic party and entered the left, eventually joining the PSL. It's true that the only place on the main stage for progressive political figures is the Democratic party, but that's also a hostile party to progressive politics so it is unsustainable. I'm glad you guys covered both parties in this awesome mini series, but nothing changes the fact that the Dems are still bound to a neoliberal capitalist framework and the only way the status quo can ever be shifted is by moving AWAY from _both_ the Dem AND GOP platforms. It doesn't matter if they're "the best we've got", they're killing us too. "good enough" is not good enough anymore. By the way, the restaurant of course faced no consequences for this violation, nor did Newsom aside from free national press attention. Also PPS, in my opinion Newsom missed his chance. He is far too centrist to make it anywhere in '28 and this was probably his only opportunity for a real run. Biden probably would have shut him down and refused to debate him though, so it's hard to tell if this is his fault or if the democrats have completely sealed the democratic process permanently already. PPSS - i think it was smart of you guys to partner with Nutrafol before Cody goes completely bald. It's going to come in clutch to help prevent him from going the way of Tim Pool and having to wear a beanie to relate to the kids. And of course PPPSS - Claudia de la Cruz is running for pres with the PSL, I highly encourage checking out her campaign launch even speeches on YT and joining up with the PSL. we absolutely have to contribute to building an alternative the the corporate duopoly, waiting for some EXXXtra progressive candidate to run with the Dems, who will just hamstring anything threatening the status quo anyways, is a dangerous risk.
