-The air gets about 60% of the advertised battery life in St. Petersburg Florida. All I did was charge that car. I have a friend with a Tesla 3 that is up and down the east coast and has never experienced this.

Actually, yes. The guy from the rental agency said that environmental factors effect all EV's and that the milage I reported was within manufacturers specifications. I asked my friend, Gary, about his last road trip, from PA to Miami in his Tesla, and he did not experience what I did while there in the heat. Could be a bad car, could be that in one year that rental was totally used up. (interior looked like brand new, does not bode well that a Hertz EV died in a year.)@@DailyAutomotiveEDIT: Seems Hertz has had enough of the complaints from frustrated users... the EV I rented put a bad taste in my mouth, I'll stick with my AWD CTS.

There are large forums that document range and while it is a bell curve, the average is more like 80% peak range

We have a 2021 Model S Plaid (replaced our 2015 Model S P90D) and a 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance. We have range-tested both cars using the mile markers along Interstate 75 from our home in Naples to Weston (the western-most Miami suburb) -- aka Alligator Alley. We used the mile markers to gauge actual miles compared to the loss of indicated range on each car's readout. It's a flat, straight road with relatively light traffic. Both cars were on 21" wheels with the cruise controls set to 80 mph in dry, warm (~85º) weather, with the A/C and audio systems running. The Plaid got 72% of its EPA-rated range. The Air Dream got 79% of its EPA-rated range. When we drive from Naples to Atlanta in our Air, we have to make two charging stops. When my brother drives down from Atlanta in his 2018 Model 3, he has to make four stops. (Neither of us charge up to 100%, and we both plan charging stops before hitting 20% of remaining battery capacity.)
