Garand spent 17 years at the Springfield Armory designing not just the Rifle but all the machinery needed to mass produce that Rifle. Those self ejecting enbloc clips were better than the stripper clips used in most of European countries at the time and they are less bulky than modern magazines.

I just found a box of M1 clips on the shelf, i reboxed them & there was 119 of them in there. In the 70s i got ammo at the range in clips for 80 cents ea. Then a sporting goods store had clips for 5 cents ea. Since they don't seem to ever ware out I'm set for life along with my decendents.😊

Слышал, что затвор этой винтовки часто называли "крушителем пальцев". Но меня больше всего бесит диоптрический прицел. В любом оружии. Это очень не удобно. Я не знаю, как из этого можно комфортно стрелять

If you hand load for a M1 make sure you use fast burning powders like IMR4064. If you use the standard 30/06 slow burning powders like IMR4350 or 4831 you’ll be generating excessive pressures for the gas system and damage your very nice rifle.

My uncle told his wife to give me his Garand and the M1 carbine 3 years ago…he passed 1 year ago…I spoke with his wife and she told me he never said that…I gave both as a gift to him in 1979…I told her I will pay her for them that it was more a family thing…she hung up…my wife was with me when my dear uncle told her…what a miserable person.

👌😌🤚 люблю оружие 2 Мировой, оно имеет свою особую эстетику, и оно очень мощное. К тому же на мой взгляд это была лучшая общевойсковая винтовка 2 Мировой, потому что: 1) полуавтоматическая; 2) быстро перезаряжалась; 3) вмещала в себя 8 патронов вместо 5; 4) патрон по мощности не уступавший другим винтовкам.
