Regardless of whether you like her personality/music or not, you can tell from this interview that she has lived life and love. She has seen marriages, divorces, babies, parents dying and rich and poor. I'm sure she knows the record business better than most people and has witnessed it, just in the way music has been distributed over the decades. Whether it's vinyl, cassette, CDs, downloads or streaming. She's been through it all. On top of that, she's survived not only the music business, but literally some of her peers from her era, whether it's Michael, Prince, Whitney or George Michael. That shows she must have done something right.

No, I never liked her overly commercialised basking in pop culture celebrity image nor her at times slutty behaviour. But we're talking 30 years ago more or less. However although her music is basically just throw away pop music, she was definitely one of the best at what she did and had an enduring career spanning 2 decades at or near the top which is unusual for that here today gone tomorrow narcissistic world where you're essentially over the hill at 35.

@@terrystorey I'm not questioning her talent, I just have never liked mainstream pop culture very much where artists on MTV for example get paid to shake their asses and look cute. Not really. All celebrities have the advantage of media creating or perpetuating a persona/myth. That usually has little to do with the person in question but can be used to their advantage. Self made to me means without the benefit of media machine.

@@0scJohnson0 what you’re saying is valid, but it’s important to put things in context. The media is part of her profession. It’s not like she’s an accountant that used the media or something outrageous. The same words you used to describe her are also absolutely applicable to Stefani- Gaga’s real name. She’s an incredibly talented human being who uses a monicker to make art - as so many of the greats do. Tony Bennett had no problem doing gorgeous albums and tours with her. Bradley Cooper certainly didn’t regret hiring her for “A Star Is Born”, for which she became the first woman to win an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, and Grammy Award in one year. You think you’re praising Madonna, but you’re actually insulting her by disgustingly tearing down an equally prolific, hard-working and talented woman. They had a petty brush up 13 years ago thanks to Madonna’s ego, but she is now, and has been for long while, a fierce supporter of Gaga, and would be pissed to see this comment. Like she said when she was congratulating her on her Oscar win & taking photos with her, “don’t mess with Italian girls.” And if we’re being real - Gaga is a great musical artist, AND a great actress, hence the Oscar. Madonna tried her hand at films, and was sometimes decent, but where she really shined was her music videos. And those videos inspired generations of musicians, including Gaga. They’re BOTH superstars. They’ve BOTH had massive, epic careers. You don’t actually seem to know much about either of them. Madonna actually notoriously hasn’t been super nice to many people over the years (including Gaga at one point, over a decade ago, and fans at points in her career) & people often brushed it off as her being a diva, but Gaga has managed to get to equal levels of fame and still be incredibly kind, gracious, and ALWAYS grateful. That’s their main difference, honestly. The ego. She isn’t nearly as humble as you apparently think she is…and that makes me question how much you actually know about her.😂 She also started out & peaked at a different time in society…but ultimately doesn’t change the behavior. But she’s Madonna, right? It appears you need to do your homework on BOTH of these powerhouses. There’s no need to tear another woman’s incredible career and unending hard work in order to praise another woman who has worked just as hard - just for longer. Gaga’s shows are so physical that she’s done permanent damage to her little body and is in constant pain, but still continues to put on epic performances. Trying to slight her and make absurd comments, like she’s only famous because she does things for attention is absolutely laughable. Seems the last time you actually kept up on Gaga’s career was 2009. Hilarious. Try again. Pitting strong women against each other is so gross. They’ve both been amazing advocates for the LGBTQ community, since the beginning of their careers, and have helped make ALL people feel empowered to just be themselves, and embrace their differences, and each other. This was an embarrassing comment from you, and a slight to her legacy. She would hate this.

@@lonetardigrade 😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤮 The OP literally ignored any and every questionable thing that Madonna has done over the course of her career, and completely bashed another female performer for absolutely no reason because they’re OBSESSED with her, but when I point out that she’s flawed like everyone else, and say we don’t have to put another female performer down just to say Madonna is great, when both of these women have amazing careers… But I HAVE celebrity worship!? Hilarious. And delusional. Why are you watching this video?? I happen to love music, that’s why. You’re watching this entire interview, you love Madonna. Therefore, according to yourself, you must also worship celebrities.🙄 Ffs.

This is by far Madonna’s best interview imho. Very personal pretty much an open book conversation. And she is this Madonna I admire. Today? Meh.

I had my son at 38 . I didn't have a great mom to influence me. I raised my son very positively.

Great interview, except it felt like 70% Howard talking and only 30% Madonna. Would've loved if he let her speak more freely before interrupting.
