Marc's talk really doesn't do justice to how much time and effort has been spent on the AGC and the Comms projects. They have some funding from Patreon and Marc's youTube with equipment donations but this is all volunteer work on what is arguably the most important computer of all time.

I was looking for this comment. You are absolutely right, Marc skipped so many stuff in order to get it in one hour. The Enigma btw was also quite important!

It was great to follow the restoration series. Always happy to be notified when a new episode published. ❤ And the journey hasn’t ended. Keep on your great work even I understand perhaps half of everything you patiently explain.

You have done a fantastic job. You have saved this great computer for future humanity. I'm also curious: what's on the other side of the moon? Let's go to the moon! When are we going there? The most important ingredient, the working part, is already there. What else is missing?

Space will be explored with drones. Nobody is ever going to wait on a line to do anything but purchase the latest VR gear that will allow you to see what the drones see.

@@Chicken_Little_SyndromeExactly! I would wait for my five minutes of remote control if someone puts a little robot on the moons surface and let's me dig into the remains of a LEM. Oh, and it should also have a built in core rope reader.

Robots can do that for lower cost (that's what everyone has been doing since Sputnik 1). There's nothing much a human mission can do unless we establish a permanent habitat on the surface.

On Marc's channel the running joke in the comments is, that he will, piece-by-piece, complete the whole Apollo program and fly to the moon himself :D

Sad they sold it and never heard about it ever again. That isn't right.

It wasn't their property, and the owner got a good amount of cash out of the auction.

@@adamsteele6148 you don't l, and I think that is good, but the owner of the AGC did. Marc and his team got their hands on other AGC, including the one on the fly-by-wire pallette, have a look at this curious Marc episode.

@@wolfgangornig3556of course they could, but why would they want to? NASA has a history of discarding obsolete technology without preservation. It is not on their agenda.
