I wasn't born in USA, but love how they treat their veterans and war heroes. Long live this great nation!
@Coolguy992Рік тому
Our V/A is terrible, the only “lovely treatment” veterans get is a couple discounts and a pat on the back. The government doesn’t care about our military. A lot of our soldiers end up as homeless, addicted or both.
@barneycasting8331Рік тому
@@Coolguy992 They can apply for SNAP, housing, college, etc. I think only the people who are in to drugs suffer a lot.

Not all veterans get this treatment. Sadly some end up Homeless and most don’t talk about it or get the welcome until years later.

"Above and beyond the call of duty...." It's telling that even a five star General salutes a recipient of the Medal Of Honor. They represent the highest values of courage and sacrifice in our country.
@johnhayes961Рік тому
Even the president of the United States is required to salute a middle of Honor recipient
@sewwfffyhjijuiРік тому
You have to salute a Medal of Honor recipient even if they're a lower rank.
@roberthudson19599 місяців тому
Technically, the Medal of Honor gets the salute, not the recipient, but the rank of a medal-wearing recipient only matters if they encounter another medal-wearing recipient.

Medal of Honor recipients hold an annual convention. If it comes to your city, there is a time during the convention when there is a "meet and greet" session which is open to the public. By all means attend that session if possible. I attended in Minneapolis and it was one of the highlights of my life. They will all return your salute if rendered...and it should be.

Your kind words and gratitude mean a lot. My uncle saw combat in Korea….his squad was wiped out except for him. He was not the same coming home. My other uncle was in the merchant marine…civilian ships that supply the Navy in combat. My dad had just finished Army basic training. Orders were cut for his unit to deploy for combat in two weeks. A week later, the Armistice was signed. I’m glad S Korea is doing so well. I pray that the North will be free soon and communism fall…everywhere. It is a curse upon humanity. Peace.🇺🇸🇰🇷

These brave souls, along with all who ever honorably wore the uniform, are the ones we owe the greatest measure of devotion to. NOT the overpaid underperforming athletes who sit down during the National Anthem out of "protest", not the nutjobs, lunatics who trash the very country who gave them so much and asked for little in return....it is such as these who made it all possible....God bless and keep them and their families and our country safe always.

Sometimes people tell me "Thank you for your service," and I just nod my head and move on, because the wouldn't have said it when they saw me come off the plane from Vietnam. But THESE are the men and women who should be thanked far and beyond our poor abilities to do so.
@bailey92084 роки тому
People are wrong a lot of times in this world but don’t let history repeat itself especially after Vietnam.
@bevb7362 роки тому
Mr. Block, There are those who may have been ignorant, were very wrong or deceived about your service in Vietnam. I was a child then, so didn't understand all the discord about the war. But I was raised by a proud Army veteran to love my country, honor those who served, to weep over those who lost their lives spilling blood for my freedom, and to cherish those who are blessed enough to come home. Thank you, sir, for answering the call to arms. I rejoice you came home, & hope you have lived a full life.
I have personally met four Medal of Honor holders. That was a rare privilege for me.

what does it mean to receive the medal of honor? to me it says that there are limits to "going above and beyond the call of duty" and when you surpass those limits is when you get the medal of honor. thank you to every past, present and future recipient of this medal as you have demonstrated that you are what we see in real heroes.
@jamespiattsr77583 роки тому
It’s more than going above the call of duty. It’s doing more than that.
@teacher5555553 роки тому
@@jamespiattsr7758 not really, most awards in the military are awarded for going above and beyond the call of duty but the difference with the medal of honor is that most who are awarded it are awarded it posthumously or they died because of their brave actions. I watched a video on the differences between the medal of honor and being knighted by the queen of england and in that video was a story of a military Chaplin who personally carried at least 20 injured soldiers to medical helicopters during vietnam and was awarded the medal for it

The difference between the MOH and any other medal is that the MOH involves saving lives. The others are for eliminating the enemy.
@mrtiesthatbind2 роки тому
Not really. DSC, NC and AFC sometimes involve saving lives, and some MOH recipients received the medal for killing enemies like John Basilone
