NASA astronaut Jonny Kim is a member of the Artemis Team, a select group of astronauts charged with focusing on the development and training efforts for early Artemis missions.
Through the Artemis program NASA and a coalition of international partners will return to the Moon to learn how to live on other worlds for the benefit of all. With Artemis missions NASA will send the first woman and the next man to the Moon in 2024 and about once per year thereafter.
Through the efforts of humans and robots, we will explore more of the Moon than ever before; to lead a journey of discovery that benefits our planet with life changing science, to use the Moon and its resources as a technology testbed to go even farther and to learn how to establish and sustain a human presence far beyond Earth.

definitely. There is a correlation with highly trained skilled professionals crossing over just like others...Like Jonny Kim is awesome, but as I look at the past astronauts, a lot of them have been doctors and military background etc. Like 43 or so past astronauts had medical degrees. @unitD7 Not unless they're in ROTC on their way to become an officer. Military Officers are especially included in that list where I'm from in the United States. A lot of filipino parents would love their kid to do that followed by a graduate degree and more schooling. , or even go enlisted in order to use their GI Bill to for college and pursue what they wanna pursue.

@unitD7 Military officers definitely aren't blue collar workers. If anything, that's the enlisted folks. A Navy Admiral or Army General definitely wouldn't be considered blue collar not even close. And this guy was an Officer in the Navy

@@davidcho2434 Let the kid be proud of his heritage. With a last name like Kim, it's obv his family roots trace back to Korea. The US does not "own" his body and brain like a copyright product. I am Chinese American, and while I agree that that means I am "American" it does not deny my connection to China, its culture, and its people. There is so much more to it than what is written on a passport or birth certificate. @J.E Yang has every right to be proud of Jonny Kim and to see him as a role model. It's a great thing to see that this man is inspiring children all over the world and we should not be shutting these children down by saying "He's American, he's OURS, find someone else." That's ludicrous, and it's a sad hill to die on.

@@andrew_ma I agree that people should be proud of ethnicity but I personally think asians should also be recognized as Americans which they are not. Alot people don't know the difference between ethnicity and Nationality. I was born in the US, served in the military, I only speak english and yet when I ask someone what my nationality is they, will guess every asian race except, American. Be proud of your ethinicity but remind people that you too are an American.

How is it hard to comprehend? 7 years enlisted, 5 years in the SEAL Teams. 3 years of college, 4 years of med school, 1 year of internship, 2 years of astronaut training, 1 year since then. He was in each role for the most minimal amount of time, not to put him down, it's still a lot but you're obviously not bothering to even look into the timeline.
