Driver's skills makes a lot of difference

A single professional off road driver should be the one to drive all 4 cars through. (Experience & skill)

Looking at how the landrcuiser went back on his last attempt and had to come with full force makes me realised that it is all about the driver's skills

Maintaining momentum makes a big difference, but something that would’ve made a huge difference would be the appropriate tires for the job.

I think the tyre will make a huge difference there. I don’t think any of those cars equipped with all terrain tyre.

Here are my takes on this video: 1- The drivers are not the same, so the test did not fix that variable and left the drivers skills as a huge factor in the success of the vehicle. 2- Each car going through the terrain makes it worse for the next driver, so the first car in had a huge advantage and the least one was at a great disadvantage due to deterioration of the terrain. 3- The last vehicle test doesn’t show that much water in the terrain and seems to have been recorded on a different day or at least not at the same time. Means the conditions are different. 4- the last car or two show some video edits and therefore video does not show the real time it took for each vehicle to pass the terrain. From all the above, I don’t trust this test at all!! 😅

Ok you can’t go off-roading in street tires and expect anything but this 😂😂😂 on that hill and mud

The task gets increasingly difficult for the next driver because of the damage previous driver caused to the surface as it maneuvers its way out .

Good tires and somewhat skilled drivers makes a difference.

Props to the Maserati guy, even though the Levante isn't a proper off-roader, it was capable of getting out of it.

The Range Rover driver was the best. All other drivers didn’t know how to handle their cars properly

Toyota have 4wd cpu with crawl control that could do this automatically by sending traction to the right tyre with most grip, surprised he didn't use it

Terrain tyres and driving skills will make alot of difference

What I think is most important in this kind of evaluation is what is the failure rate after actually using it in a harsh environment for several years? That means. If it's just a test like this, the tires you put on will change the results as much as you want

3 Main Foctors: 1. Horse Power 2. Driver's skill 3. Tyre type

They should be tested on black mud... it would be very challenging for the drives.🎉

If u ever find yourself having to drive in mud, the trick is to NEVER keep ur wheels straight until you've got good grip. The second u feel ur tires slipping, turn the wheel and don't EVER stop halfway through unless u want to back down OR you're in a tractor. Some drivers think it's about acceleration, weight, or tyres but in reality most tyres will do just fine in any terrain. Even small hatchbacks can go offroad if driven with enough skill. I know because rural South African roads can get VERY muddy & slippery on a rainy day and we have to get smaller, less powerful cars up the hill against the mud

The G - Class driver is so incompetent. The best 4x4 truck in the world and that driver still struggled. The driver didn't even know how to use the Differential Locks. What a shame. Otherwise, good show.

Maserati is the best of all performers. Did anyone else see the switch to dirt " road drive" the lift and take off.. class

Ah yes my favourite all terrain... the Maserati.

That piece that falls from the range rover is the cover of the hook, there is one hidden under that piece in front. It can fall if it touches the floor in some occasions. Range rover was the best there tho!

The fact they made it up there in heavy clay mud with z rated road tires is incredible and should be lost on no one.

Range rover is like running in timberland boots. G wagon is like high heels on the treadmill.

This a grip challenge which mostly depends on tyres in this scenario. Weight does help a bit

It's all down to drivers skill and the tyres, they were probably on road tyres. Stick some at3's on them and it will be all different.

Nice show though 👍🏿 All I could see was lack of driving experience on both sides of land cruiser and the G wagon they should have made it easier than expected but they struggled as well as Rang and Maseratti. Wow Maserati to my surprise 😮😂

I think this just insane. Expensive cars in such terrain. Rather go with a very old model Toyota land cruiser if I'm ever to go in such places.

It’s not the cars the problem here , it’s thoses drivers , they lack off-roading driving skills , you can’t command and control a car on a muddy road the same way you do in the city’s one ☝🏻.

For a Fiat Panda 4x4 this trial would be easy.

I'm surprised the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser struggled. Either the driver doesn't know how to drive it or there's something wrong with the car. Pleasantly surprised the Maserati Levante made it. I wasn't expecting that as it looked like the odd one out there since it's know to be more to the luxury side than offroading. The Range Rover of course had to fall apart & lose some of its parts lol. What was the saying again. If you want to go on an adventure take the Range Rover. But if you want to come out of it then take the Land Cruiser. I'll be honest the Range Rover looks the most elegant but probably alongside the maserati the least reliable. Probably the Range Rover is even less reliable than the Maserati because nothing fell off the Maserati at least. The G Wagon has the most presence of them all. But I'd still go for the Land Cruiser then 2nd place the G wagon & then most likely the Range Rover & finally the Maserati. Although the Maserati Levante in the Trofeo trim will definitely by far have the best standard exhaust noise in its segment

People may fight over these vehicles on whats better but what matters a half of it is the driver and his skills!

Range Rover passes easiest of the bunch. Exceptional 4x4 mechanics and amazing electronics is represented by RR and it is shown by least momentum needed to pass this obstacle. With good skills and lot of momentum even Dacia Duster and some other cheap SUV can pass this. But whole point is to pass it with grace and least risk as possible.

The road surface is muddy and slippery. The tires used must be suitable for the road , no need to use an expensive car. If you want to be a normal 4×4 car, you can go if you use tires that are suitable for road conditions.
