I love your ultra-low cost alternative to T-track and T-bolts and the cost of a T-slot router bit. Definitely a technique to keep in mind. The idea of a demountable router table is also brilliant - a real space-saver as well as being able to easily take it to on-site jobs, and your cross-fence design is really neat. All executed with your usual precision and attention to detail. Thank you.

I have taken a few of these apart and i have never found one with a thick layer of plastic like that. I have only found thin sheets that are polarized and thin Fresnel lenses. But also a small piece of 1/4 in Plexiglas wouldn't set you back that much.
@ksp1278
@ksp1278 2 роки тому
My thoughts exactly. The DIY Perks youtube channel has much better ways of using an LCD panel. I feel that the bit of plastic was such a small part of this table that it didn't really justify it being the title of the video. Could have used anything for that insert.
@nominalvelocity
@nominalvelocity 2 роки тому
That style of diffuser would only be on newer edge lit panels, those little nubbins on the surface channel light like little fiber optic pieces. So it's going to be highly dependent on what style of monitor / lcd you decide to sacrifice. Small scraps of lexan or acrylic could be sourced from sign shops or industries that use those materials for free or little cost.
@choiceblade
@choiceblade 2 роки тому
Ok. Thanks for the valuable input, and effort to contribute inspired ideas, and devoted execution. WTF? Who cares, dude? Look at where your mind goes. It's a kind of almost jealous reflex you exhibit. Same for ksp1278 and nominalvelocity below. Why on EARTH would you focus on the most imaginatively shitty observations you can dredge up? Who cares...after the performance above?!? Seriously? Taking what you say at face value, you're all probably makers yourselves and comparatively magnificent at what he does above. All one has to do to find the contributions you three eagle-eyes make here pathetic is to put "If you happen to find one of these or already have one..." in front of "...try this at home.". I'm not tryin' ta beat up on ya'll. I'm saying if you open your mouth, let it be useful to someone or something besides your own delicate sensibilities (ego)? Yeah. See something good and tip your fuckin' hat, dude. "I never found one of these." Who cares? "title was click bait" not really and who cares? "you could find plastic elsewhere" If this is all you guys can come up with to offer the community who appreciates this type of content, reexamine your fucking audience. Know who you're speaking to, and just shut the fuck up. Take it to your mommy. Ok, I'm done.
@dshaeable
@dshaeable 2 роки тому
@@choiceblade except the title of the video is specifically to point out using a broken(fairly new style) monitor to achieve this when it servered little purpose here. If you already have the damaged monitor, great go for it. Going out of your way to find one of these monitors with that kind of board is not very productive though. I think that's the point these people were making. Still a great build and they show lots of skill, but the video could have just been titled making a routing table from scrap or something similar. The monitor really didn't matter much as the material could have been not as nice and easily sourced elsewhere. Still a cool video
@vadimbellous8313
@vadimbellous8313 2 роки тому
@@choiceblade The guys are right. The monitor played little role in this build and a shitty use of a broken monitor for a DIY project at that. The guy in the video is certainly skilled but so what, so am I and millions of other people. It doesn't justify the misleading title or the fact that is audio is nothing but power tools ripping into plastic or wood for 23 minutes.
