What the heck is 4G, and what advantages do our newer generation mobile networks have over the OGs like 1G?

+Matapatapa yep, i had 4Gx mobile broadband which in aus is much faster than 4g and better coverage and had 8GB, for fun a friend and i decided to download as much as we could (cause it was free) we wrapped up 55GB in 2 hours
@maminparvaresh

Well said. I really can't understand the concept behind 1Gb speed on mobile phones, since they are way too limited, all around the world, no matter where you live. Although I know that it can be used for other things, like for example Tesla that uses 4G network and gives you free access to Internet through the car consol and for other porpuses, but in a handset with a super limited data bandwidth? That doesn't make any sense.

No I didn't see it, and I'm absolutely not interested, seriously. I don't care whether they're gonna invent 1Tb or 50Gb. I have 100Mbps on my phone and I am absolutely happy with it, even though I consider this "too fast' because of the data caps.

xXSexyIsaacNoscoperXx The hairy 1G doesn't exist anymore, well not for cellphones. it was shut down. 2G can do web browsing but it's quite slow. it also supports calling. 3G can do web browsing and phone calls. 4G LTE can support speeds of well over 1 Gbps. If you live in the US, in most markets, AT&T can support speeds of up to 75 Mbps in most markets, Verizon 150 Mbps, T-Mobile 150 Mbps, And Sprint about 100 Mbps. There are other things that come into effect that make Sprint much slower than AT&T.

Why the hell would you ever need a gigabit cell connection? That would use up my data plan in 6 seconds.
@calebhabegger2866
@calebhabegger2866 4 роки тому
It would not. Think of your internet connection as a tube. Bigger the tube the more stuff you can put in it. Up to 1 gig means you can put up to one gig of data into it. It does not mean your phone is using one gig every second. Unless you have 48 downloads running in which case would use the same amount of data on a lower speed. Better speed means faster phones for doing the same equivalent things you did before just a bigger tube if you need to upload and download multiple things.

Analog cell phone service *did* support mobile Internet (or other online services) using a modem, just like a landline telephone. In the late '80s and early '90s, some laptops and handheld computers were available with special cables to connect them to a cell phone for mobile data transfer.

While I like how multiple other videos are being referred to during basically all Techquickie videos because I usually end up watching one of those next. However I would be happy to see those linked in the description in addition to having them only on screen for a few seconds. Then again I'm one of the few people who has notifications turned off permanently. But still, there are others like me out there (I think) who would appreciate it not having to turn them on and having to search for you referring to the video.
