The inaction of the authorities at right time had cost the lives of many innocent girls. They seemed to have gotten bribed or threatened. They didn't fulfill their duties.

And I had both my mother and father there to try to control my situation. My dad even going so far as putting bars on my window to keep me from sneaking out of the home. Where my story differed was my boyfriend was just a year older than I was so he didn't have the means to take me far away from my family to isolate me. Or he certainly would have.

She obviously did not choke to death but had water in her lungs. The coroner can consider only the physical evidence, not her husband's character or the suspicious circumstances of the breakdown of their marriage. Maybe accidental drowning was a reasonable scientific/medical conclusion.

You are so right. Even after a very bad relationship and dangerous separation from my children's father, I pushed through the courts to get him help. It was years of hard work for both him and myself, we both grew and eventually formed a good relationship so my children could then have a strong relationship with their father. If one can do it, it's so worth the effort for the children.

That’s just what makes us human, but no one deserves to go through what any of the victims went through for that. You have to think about what they were going through at the time too, life was hard on them which caused them to make some bad decisions but that doesn’t warrant being abused and murdered. In the Mother’s case, it shouldn’t have ended with her daughter losing her life. It’s not anyone else’s fault but the murderer (and no, his actions don’t count as mistakes). Simple as that.

And I think it made sense to let her finish the last semester of high school before taking her to a different state. And, as a widow, she probably did not have the luxury of not starting her job right away. I can't imagine she believed his intentions were fatherly or paternal. Even if she did, I wouldn't allow a near stranger older than I am to visit my minor daughter with or without my presence. And to address a point by another commenter, the police would have done nothing about his being in the house if her daughter who also owned the house did not object to his being there, which she obviously did not. Make sure there is a mentor they can relate to, somebody that gives sound advice. I did this with all my kids as I was that rebellious teen with nobody to guide me.
