Moment spire collapses at Copenhagen's old stock exchange

18 днів томуA fire has erupted at Copenhagen’s old stock exchange, one of the Danish capital’s most famous buildings, engulfing its spire, which collapsed on to the roof. There were no reports of injuries. The historic building, whose spire is shaped as the tails of four dragon entwined, had been under renovation when the blaze broke out. The Dutch Renaissance-style building no longer houses the Danish stock exchange but serves as headquarters for the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

This building was not just an iconic national symbol and landmark built by Denmark’s most renowned king; it housed hundreds of invaluable paintings, thousands of manuscripts, documents, and tomes, as well as sculptures and priceless artifacts created by Europe's legendary artists and artisans through 400 years. The rooms themselves, masterpieces of artistry, were the sites of many of Denmark’s most crucial, destiny-altering decisions made by famed figures. The magnitude of this tragedy cannot be overstated-it is a profound loss not just for Denmark, but for Europe as a whole. Four hundred years of the richest forms of European culture, history and heritage have gone up in flames.

😔 Did fire damaged all of the building in interior, most of it or some part of it? Is it known how much of it all survived, approximately?

More like we should really make sure the contractors we hire for the renovations are well vetted. Don't just pick the lowest bidder. Sometimes you get what you pay for. If the subject is as valuable as a 400-year old landmark, we should pick the best contractor regardless of price because they will be handling something that represents history in and of itself. They are not just renovating but preserving to ensure the structure last longer because wear and tear causes their decay faster. So they should pick the contractors who know how to do it correctly. Only a chosen few can handle this type of veryy important project that has national significance.

No, Copenhagen Denmark. It’s located north from Germany, west from Sweden, south from Norway. But Denmark and the Netherlands are countries that are often mistaken for each other, yet they’re both very unique countries and cultures. But you were close enough that if you had said this to a Danish person they might’ve laughed with a confused expression, before correcting you

And yes, it would be eaisier if Netherlands was danish for everyone because people don't even know if it's called the Netherlands or Holland. Would be easier to just call it Denmark.

The danish government just got caught by a soldier, for violating their own constitution, it was by a homeland security officer who declared war on the government, police, and main military for it the day before. The unit that caught the state was the resistance movement in WW2. The fire was a political strike after the government kept hiding the violation from its citizens. The police have even been aggressive in arresting the officer but failed the day before this, now their building is burning! The police think they can beat a military officer now look at their building burning.

Commiserations to the former workers of this iconic building. With the benefit of hindsight, I sincerely hope that lessons will be learned this time and building safety procedures will be reviewed thoroughly and vigorously to ensure that this doesn't occur again on UK soil. Resolve and meaningful dialogue, not the usual lip service given by opportunistic career politicians or useless Mayors
