the best video i have ever seen, has literally everything you could ever imagine about shock absorbers. you dont need to watch any other video or look up more information 10/10

A shock absorber is more technical than I ever could imagine...wonderful piece of technique...

Great video......imagination power improved lot....thanks.....I have one doubts that during bumping why all amount of oil not goes to above rebound valve as more space is created above piston....some amount of fluid goes to annuals space...

Superb....just awesome....no better words to describe. Completely flabbergasted!!!

Which software was used in creating such clear and precise videos?

great video and presentation :) good work :)

Just a reminder: The volume of oil pumped in and out of the reserve chamber is the same as the volume change caused by the piston rod excursion. The oil is nearly incompressible, it will however expand considerably with temperature.

Hi, thanks for this great vid. I'm very interested in how the triple tube shocks like on the four-c dampers from volvo work. Do you have a video of this too? would be great to see it explained correctly

whether the gas and oil are not combined, because there is no insulation or seal between oil and gas thank you
@tommasosantojanni5 років тому
Minute 6:34 is the nitrogen filled at ambient pressure or is it compressed? If compressed, then how does the manufacturer fill the gas without having a filling valve?
@rathinsharma2575 років тому
it is not compressed. It's liquid nitrogen which expands later into nitrogen gas which is prevented from leaking with the fitment of oil seal.
@tommasosantojanni5 років тому
@@rathinsharma257 ... thank you. That makes perfect sense. I appreciate your time to respond

everything sounds good but this is no help if I can t buy shock absorbers for my vehicle from Monroe. They don t build them............. why ??? ( Peugeot ion, or Mitsubishi imiev )
@JasimKhan-pj6tq3 роки тому
What is this gas means
@billblackeye5 років тому
On a non gas shock how the shock is able to rebound up? It needs the spring to help it rebound?
@chevroletsail73245 років тому
Billblackeye hi is there dengrous if I made hole in the gas shock absorber??
@billblackeye5 років тому
Here is my scientific answer. Yes it will fuck everything up. Don't do it.

you always get cavitation in twin tube shock absorber design as you are mixing the oil with nitrogen or what ever gas you are using. The efficiency is therefor reduced dramatically. Another disadvantage is that the air in between the two tubes will hold the heat rather than in a monotube design where the heat has nowhere to go but out of the single tube and away from the component. The ride quality in a twin tube shock absorber will be very soft and not very stable compared to the monotube design. To summarise, if you are looking for shock absorbers DONT go for the twin tube design as they are a waste of money. Thanks for reading

@pavitraj3116 років тому
yes... you are pretty correct
@DiscoFang5 років тому
Not entirely true. Pressurising actually eliminates cavitation effects. Yes, heat dissipation is better on a monotube design because of the surface area but also because of the increase in oil capacity. The ride quality is a function of the valving, both rebound and compression, not specific to the design.
@locklear3082 роки тому
but most monotubes are rough as heck

I'm about to purchase Monroe complete suspension kit for my jeep. In the front coil springs and all the whole units that's easier to install. Anyone have opinions of Monroe suspension? I mean heck they have a great warranty 90 days if not satisfied they'll refund plus $100 per wheel and $80 for alignment. I can't see a company making a statement like that without making sure everything is perfect but I could be wrong.
