I can't wait! Although to be fair, Monster Hunter made its biggest hit in Europe/North American on a Nintendo platform.

Rewatching the trailer made me realize all the NPCs might be capable hunters who will join you. The leader has dual blades, the young boy has a charge blade, the young girl appears to be using a HBG, the twins use a bow and lance. I think the instructor uses a long sword. The only weapons users unaccounted for a light bow gun, switch axe, sword and shield, and great sword.

Genuine question... As someone whose favorite video game franchise of all time is Xenoblade Chronicles, and a big Zelda fan, would you recommend Monster Hunter to me? I downloaded a demo of one of them on Wii U and just didn't understand what was going on. It felt like the monsters just never died. But I want to like these games if I can.

@@dfre102 Neither of those are action games the same way Monster Hunter is, so I don't know that I'd recommend it based on that, necessarily. When you're starting out, the monsters might not die quickly. That's okay! They're supposed to be difficult; more like bosses than common enemies. The game is all about finding a weapon that works for you and learning the monsters' attacks and patterns. It requires some work to get into but if you can get past the initial stiffness, you'll be rewarded with a game that truly wants you to get better.

@@dfre102 I know that some people in the monster hunter community wince at this comparison, but I really do think that the gameplay of a monster hunter game is more like a dark souls boss rush than it is like Zelda or Xenoblade. The combat is about understanding when you're supposed to attack and when you shouldn't based off of gaining an understanding of the monsters' patterns, and unlike other games its more of a battle of outlasting the monsters than it is a race to take them down. I'm not gonna lie, its definitely a tough game series to get into, but it can be so worth it to overcome the challenge of the monsters that frustrate us the most.

No, it’s really not that long but when you’re super hyped for something and you’ve had a taste naturally you’ll want another after some time. Plus there is usually a hard difficulty quest in MH demos, and the fact that there’s a rumor for it just makes us that much more hopeful
