I’ve lost count of the times I’ve always said to dog carers, the animal is in your care, the cost doesn’t stop at food.. I rescue Spaniels and have 2 at the moment, one recently passed away. A dog is for life, just like your kids and yes I have 2 of them as well. And I really hate the word ‘owners’ any animal is part of your family, anything they give you is unconditional. They bring so much joy ❤

@@feralcat07 Were I his wife that dog would've been at the vet asap no matter what he thinks about it, I have to admit watching relationships like this get me fired up because both do nothing when relying on one to do something.

Many people ‘wait and see’. You can NEVER do this. Take them as soon as they show symptoms. Otherwise it can be too late.

I understand peoples grievances with the man who waited to take Bella to the vet, did you miss the part where he didn’t know how toxic they were and it was several hours before any symptoms started and when they did he brought her in right away and only then did he learn how toxic pufferfish are. Dogs bite a lot of things they shouldn’t but if there’s no immediate effects you might not realize something is wrong at all because a dog cant tell you

I more have a problem with the lady who leaves her young pup at home for full days when she goes to work. The man with the pufferfish probably should have known since I think it's the owners responsibility to know about what's dangerous to their pets but he tried his best when he noticed what's going on with his dog.

Keeping the dogs inside at night when the cane toads are out and about is also a good prevention.

If the dog didn’t have symptoms up until then he wouldn’t have known. Not to mention he obviously didn’t how puffer fish were poisones. The owners care for their dog and did what they should’ve.

Snail bait and nasty neighbours - the worse combination. I'm lucky. My neighbours are lovely, but I do have a laneway behind my property, and this is why my animals are always inside when I go out. And I must say that I'm glad we don't have paralysis ticks in Melbourne.

@@Whatthefudgecookie there are certain chemicals that can be counteracted by others so perhaps the toxic ingredients might have a counterbalance that would stop them from acting. Many snake venoms are neurotoxins and we can make antivenom for those. I'm no chemist though.

Imagine a vet that cares to much they literally bring a camera to set up in your backyard to find out the problem instead of just telling you to watch htme constantly and hope you have an answer...talk about an amazing guy

I remember when i first brought my puppy to the vet for shots, they asked me which ones i said "yes" and that included the Lyme vaccine as well. Doesn't cure it, but it helps along with prevention.

That's a reminder to always keep watch on your dog, even if you think the environment is safe. It's just like how you should always keep an eye on your 1-2 year old toddler when they start to waddle out on the streets,

an unfortunate but interesting video. great job fixing things up but the people responsible for causing those problems should be in jail. as for the video, quality was good as always, though the camera angle could be better at times. (like during the rottweiler's colonic lavage, and later the black lab's colonic lavage. you can not see what is happening very well. Not like you can with the yellow lab anyway, that camera angle was much better. Anyway glad to see everything worked out well in the end. Nice job guys. ~ from a fellow veterinarian who has seen the horrors of snail bait all too often unfortunately.....

We have masses of both snails and bindis here, no one can have even the slightest bit of greenery around without the snails arriving in swarms and eating everything in sight. The last time I tried having a garden I was pulling a minimal of 50 snails a day off my plants. I still don't use snail bait though, our neighbors' cats love my house too much and won't stop spending their days lolling around on our lawn.

BC tetrodotoxin has no antidote and might have taken a while to show. Maybe the pet slept, people work etc

I’m wondering why they don’t have an antidote for snail bait when it’s a problem out there obviously because I’ve seen so many episodes like this they should really research this stuff and get an antidote out there for animals also it might be a good idea to have cameras around the homes to see who throws stuff in yards with the Snail bait

The poison that snail bait uses has nothing to counteract it so there can’t be an antidote. They should make the snail bait illegal because it’s so dangerous

My grandparents had a cat family of 14 cats for many years. Then their one neighbor (i swear it was their a$$hole cop neighbor but no proof)...but a neighbor put out antifreeze!! Who does that!! Sadly we lost 1 kitty to it that we know of. Broke my heart cause that was my cat family and i was helping in taking care of them...plus i was very young too. People are disgusting to poison animals

So very hard to watch the mini schnauzers symptoms, as my dogs were both that breed and I suspected one was poisoned by eating or biting on an already dead mouse who had been poisoned by mice killer IE warfarin I believe. but never knew, she was 15 yrs old and lived a fun happy life. Autopsy is massively expensive or I might have had one done to see what happened. It is a hard decision to make when your dog is very old and treatment could save her or not and life expectancy etc. very hard indeed. we too took some time to take her to the vet as ours was closed and it was after midnight, anyways. best wishes to all. I mean if she wasn't showing symptoms prior to this I assume the owners thought she hadn't been poisoned. She didn't eat it, she picked it up, and we don't know the condition of the fish either - if it was very decayed, they may have assumed the poison was no longer present as a result.

It’s because the amount she/he takes is depending on her/his live. My dog was eating chocolate but she ate only ate a little so she/he probably pooped it out or it didn’t affect her/him

Dose, dog size, type of chocolate. Doses of toxic substances are calculated in Ld/50(dosis)/kg body weight of the animal that kills 50% of the exposed test animals. That can be literal micrograms or higher doses For theobromine, sth akin to caffeine it's dose dependant and dog dependant For a very small dog like a chihuahua, 4,5 pieces or around 20 grams of dark chocolate tends to be deadly. Same with cats. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it becomes

Yes it's not necessary if the dog can pllass them with food. A surgery might be more dangerous than hoping the dog can poop it out

In Archie's case, I don't understand why anyone would get a dog when they go to work full time. Leaving a puppy/young dog or adult dog to fend for itself for over 8 hours without supervision is pure selfishness and irresponsible!

False. Making sure your dog has proper toys and an appropriate place to be and nothing that can injure them they'll be fine. Proper exercise when you get home is a must. And really if working full time kept me from having pets then I'd be a lonely person. Maybe worry about you and not other people. Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

@@Tyson-co4ocI think it's extremely selfish to expect a dog to wait for me 8 or 9 hours a day. During this time I walk my dog twice, also so that he can "do his business". Dogs are very social creatures. Leaving them alone for so long on a regular basis is psychological torture in the long run. I think kennel keeping, chain keeping or the popular cage keeping in the house is just as bad. The dog is kept for recreational purposes. And if you keep a dog just so you don't get lonely when you get home from work, you're forcing your dog to be lonely while you go to work or do other things outside the house! I have had one or more dogs for over 30 years, worked full time and was always able to have them with me. If this option hadn't existed, I wouldn't have had a dog.
