I have always been wondering why the iphones feel better in almost every way despite the fact that androids often have better specs on paper. You explained it perfectly! I don’t even care about the price difference since in my experience the iphones are usable for way longer than the android phones i’ve had.

Arun your videos just keep getting better. I remember watching it this like 20 minutes after it came out originally, thinking how much I loved the video until someone is willing to talk in depth about all the things I think about all the time. A couple years later and comparing it to your most recent stuff it's crazy how improved it is. Because at the time I thought it was great, but it's just night and day. Keep it up.

Made the switch as well! I wanted a compact phone and the android options were quite slim. I’m borrowing an iPhone 8 right now and will switch over to the new SE when there are more long term reviews out there. Switching was difficult at first, most notably losing the headphone jack and customizability of the OS were big drawbacks for me. But when I started using it more I started to appreciate how well things work together. I have my focus modes that are synced from my phone to the MacBook I have for work, LastPass integration works just as well as iCloud, I can open a browser page I have opened in any webbrowser on my MacBook with any browser I have on my iPhone. And all that with a five year old iPhone and a 7 year old MacBook. If I ever need to replace my personal laptop, it’s going to be MacBook. Be it used or new.

The notifications are probably the biggest differentiating factor to me. When I had my Pixel, my Inbox stayed clear. I was on top of emails that came in because even if I missed the initial notification popup, I could see the icon in the status bar and I would check it. On my iPhone, the only time I really look at notifications are when I see one come in in realtime, and then I see that I have a hundred notifications that I missed. I'm also not a huge fan of the gatekeeping in the App Store. I like that they make sure apps are secure for the most part and work properly and all that, but I don't like that they don't allow certain types of apps for no reason.

I have a feeling that JerryRigEverything’s opinion would be something along the line of: *Phones are phones, and phones break.*

there are only three brands of phone that I consider getting each time I want an upgrade. the latest iPhone, Pixel and FairPhone. because they all have guaranteed software support, a clean and light OS with a tight ecosystem, little slow-down over time, and long-term hardware support. they're the most consistent phones as you always know what you're going to get, and they do what they advertise perfectly and without compromise.

Aldo made the switch to iphone13pro and i agree with everything you say! It would be nice to have more custom options on the camera… like turning off hdr.. but otherwise the experience is so smooth and easy!

After almost 10 years of Galaxy phones and wanting a change of pace, Im planning on making the switch in the next couple of days. I know for sure I will miss the customization that android allows as Im very big on personalization and customizing as much as I can but it seems like the pros and cons are pretty even regardless of whether youre on Android or IOS so maybe the switch wont be so painful

I personally don’t view my phone as an expression of myself, I view it as a tool. A tool that I want to work all the time, reliably. I’ve owned many phones from both manufacturers and iPhones preform the best when it comes to consistency.

I’ve been using iOS since the iPhone 4S, which was also my first actual smartphone and I didn’t ever felt like switching to something else. I love it’s simplicity and everything works just fine for my needs.

For these facts I will never go back to iPhones: - Not download apps from unknown sources - making your own call tone - a stupid lightning cable - most important transferring files from PC to iPhone only through iTunes (and not through windows to the phone is stupid) are a major dealbreaker. So no, unless these issues are fixed will never go back to iOS.

I switched to apple for the exact reason. I appreciate the way you articulated it in this video. When people asked me when I first switched I said it was because the apps worked better. But I didn’t exactly give any thought to why.

This is a brilliant video, and I'm in about the same spot. I have never owned an iPhone, but my next one will likely be one--for many of the reasons stated in this video (and some others). Now I know why you're the BOSS! :-)

After having experienced both Android and iPhone I could say this: If you want adventure and flexibility go for Android. If you want stability and reliability go for an iPhone.

I am perfectly happy with the Sony Xperia phones that I have been using since I went from press button phones, to touch screen phones. There are reasons why I prefer the press button phones, they are smaller, and the screen on and a touch screen phone is more likely to be broken. I am not looking to replace the phone that I have now until it stops working, although I would like to have the screen replaced.

From samsung to android here too and the photos and sound system is unreal. I kept thinking someone’s in the room with me the first week in my iPhone13 pro. The idea that I cannot customize is annoying and yes the notification is crap. Siri was such a downgrade from my Samsung’s Google Assit, I can ask Google multitude of questions and it’ll provide answers WHILE I am driving while Siri just tells you that it cannot show you the answer till you stop driving. Google assist is also integrated so well with my Waze map (the layout looks so different too, it had more options that iPhones). Again, the camera matters a lot to me so I don’t regret the move as much, as soon as Samsung can compete with it then I will change back for sure

I remember back in the days, i think it was 2014, i moved to São Paulo and buy an new android phone. in a dinner with some friends of my dad,one of then had the new iphone of the time.... the funn thing its the guy was really surprised and shocked that how the android phone had that much app diversity and personalisation tools, i as a kid was like ' oh, look at that, the iphone user having fun in a android device, funny. I like Samsung but my s10e is getting older and updates have stopped. I love the customisation but it's too hard to find something "offical" i'm planning on getting the iPhone 14, I could go with a 13 but I'd prefer something newer to "future proof" it. My battery doesn't last too long, I keep getting notifications to get a replacement but that costs $80 and I had no interest in spending that if it isn't affecting me too much or that I'm saving $1400 for a new phone. I've been a Samsung user since I was a kid, my parents always had Samsung. My brother recently changed to iPhone and he loves it, he recommends it all the time. I've wanted an iPhone for ages but never had the need due to having a phone. But my s10e is starting to anger me daily, I need to quickly open an app to find when my train leaves and it takes up to 10 for it to even load.. I have classes on from 8:30 to 1:30, I need to wake up at 6am and have my phone last me the day. It never does, I have to turn of Bluetooth, Wifi, Data, Brightness just to make it last. I have a good portable charger, it's very reliable, however my s10e won't last more than a year until I have to start everything repaired and it'd just be easier to have a new phone that won't need fixing for a few years. I'm getting older so having a phone where I can customise just about everything doesn't matter to me anymore. I'm starting work next year and long term commitment to getting prepared for University. I need a reliable phone and iPhone is the easier route. I do also have small (petty) wants as to why I'm switching, such as the texting app, it's definitely more exclusive using the default messaging app on iPhone as when texting another iPhone user. I find apple is a lot more uniform in what they do, such as only allowing limited options, it does feel restrictive, I recently bought an iPad Air and I do feel this restrictiveness.. part of me is okay with and the other doesn't want to be controlled.. Another reason why I feel switching would be suitable, most things are done in favour of Apple not android. The android market is so diverse, I don't even know what's the latest Samsung phone, and it's so different now that it's overwhelming. I found that Apple sticks to one - three models, which is nice so you know what's what. I'm 90% decided on iPhone, however part of me feels like it's falling into the trap of Apple, eg I bought an iPad Air, I can't share photos to my phone from it without difficulty and it'd be easier having an iPhone so I don't miss out on stuff. But I know that Apple wants to charge as much as possible and that there's a good chance that an iPhone would break. This was extremely long so hopefully this makes sense 😅

I've tried switching to the iPhone multiple times because I genuinely appreciate Apple's products and I've had so many little inconsistencies with Android. But despite everything, I still prefer the functionality and extra features that come with using an Android phone as my primary device. The iPhone impressively does exactly what it is supposed to do, but there are things it simply *can't* do, and that is what keeps me on Android.

My first phone was the iPhone 6s. Held for three years until the battery life got unbearable and the phone was rather outdated. My next phone was the Huawei P30 pro and I liked it’s design with the blue metal back, plus it got android and I really liked the freedom of customizing my phone that apple cannot fully reach. Almost three years now and while I liked the phone and would have bought a Samsung after my Huawei‘s screen had broken, my mother told me she had a spare iPhone 11 pro left which I have just taken and resetted for my uses, and I fell in love with it. The design of the iPhone fits me more, it just feels better for me (although the screen keyboard is smaller and I need to get used to it)

speaking of bloatware, Android does offer the option to uninstall/disable apps which one may not find useful. another important thing to note here is that Android is an open source software (OSS) i.e. anyone can take the kernel and apply a skin/UI to it and tweak the look and feel. On the other hand, iOS is a proprietary software owned by Apple and so not many options to tweak. Being a person who uses both, I find Android to be a little more intuitive and simple. With the vast ocean of options available, pretty much you are in control of how the phone works albeit the smart inner features.

I'm adhd and a bit autistic. I can super focus on something to the enthusiast level. I can be super well versed on the minutia of things I have interest in. What I can't do, is stay at the top of everything. Getting an iPhone because I can't manage to learn all the minutia of every app and how they may, or may not interact with each other. It's just too much. I am finishing up a degree right now and I need to focus on the minutia of dozens of dozens of meds, cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, neurology etc. I just don't have it in me to fiddle with finding an app that can reliably record a lecture, convert and transfer the lecture to a classmate, and do that all again when one of the apps updates and no longer allows a feature I use for free.

Back when i was younger like in highschool around 2018, i was leaning more to android cause of mobile games and customization, i can quickly download cracked games and etc. but now that im older i no longer care about games and customizations and stuff, all i care about right now is minimalist stuff, and camera

I think photo quality has come a long way in Instagram Android now, at least on Samsung but the exp is chopyy.

If samsung didn't have this many problems with google and they actually worked together they could make the best androids ever. Aa you see now google pixel 7 is really awesome with the combination of software and hardware.

I still occasionally swap between my iPhone 12 PM and my S10 5g. Even now, the S10 still has a killer display.

😢The fact that apps are more optimized for i phones alone make me wana switch to an iphone sometimes. My camera quality for the a71 is decent but once I use the camera through a social media app the picture quality is shitty 😢. Also, the backup issue that you spoke about with 2 different apps for the same thing is true. Why am i stuck with onedrive and microsoft office, playstore and galaxy store, google photos and samsung gallery, and the fact that samsung gives us apps that u cannot delete or I'm uninstall just puts the icing on the cake 😂

Actually switching from apple over to samsung z fold 4 this month and kinda excited. I've been with apple since I first got my first ipod when I was 13 or so and I'm 28 now so quite some time lol. I owned the tag, phone, laptop, watch, earphones etc etc. It is a great eco system that works amazing together but just want to give something else a change for once and samsung got me with the refined zfold4. Who know maybe I'll switch back maybe I won't but it has been a while since a phone come out that caught my attention like the zfold series did. Either way it is just a phone so just choose whatever make the most sense to u.

Main reason I switched to iPhone. Is they support their phones for a long time plus battery replacement is easy. I do miss some features that my 6 year old phone had though. Being able to control music with gestures is something I really miss.

Honestly, google needs to build a universal Camera API that manufacturers can utilize and tune to their phones they sell, and devs can easily tap in and integrate to.

Always been on iOS since my first iPod 4th gen, naturally I used their services and built up my music playlist, photos, Apple TV movies, etc. I got years worth of data on apple that just Carrie’s over with every iPhone. Always been happy with them.

If you had multiple notifications in messages (in Android), and you clicked the app, or just glance into one last message or swipe the notifications, badge will clear... and you will miss all the other messages unless you get into message app and look for BOLD texts. (Only reason i'm considering iPhone as my next phone). So far i think only on Google, Samsung, and LG phones have this feature(drawback).. How about other manufacturers?

I agree. But due to so many companies working on android their system would have enhanced massively. I phone is always more expensive as I think a little more amount of money goes in ads as they need to compete with other companies and a lot would go to software developers as they have to keep their system up to date. They might have all features together but other expensive phones can also be as good as this and cost this much only. So, their is a lot of for apple to do than other companies. So their prices are high. And not only phones, they have to do all of this for their laptops. Their price would be over the top as the customers don't care about that they can just buy an android device. It is running 19% due to brand value. One more thing that you will find they don't have many choices in terms of phone cover, accessories and tutorials on how to do things on them.

This is very interesting. I never owned an iphone myelf.They were just too expensive and when I was younger, I would always root and customize my phones, which isn't possible to the same extent on an iPhone. At some point, I stopped using Android flagship phones because they got too expensive as well (most I've ever spend on a phone was like 500 or 600€) and I became the guy who refused to pay more than 400€ for a phone, which rules out a current gen iPhone as well. Now I get supplied with a phone from my employer. It's a middle range Samsung and it has dual sim, so I can use it with my private number as well. As long as there are not dual sim iPhones for two PHYSICAL sim cards in Europe, I wouldn't even want to get an iPhone from my company as this would mean I would've to buy an additional phone for private use. But I am not much of social media guy so I understand that this might very different for others.
