indeed. My sister's white German shepherd thought he was a lapdog. 60kg dog jumping in your lap at all times of the day, and she doesn't weigh much more than that herself :) Sadly the dog died very suddenly recently, way too young, due to what the vet believed to be a birth defect nobody had noticed earlier.

nah, it's just standard cat behaviour. Both my cats are like that. Want all the cuddles, but only on their own schedule. Try picking them up to cuddle them and they scramble to get out of your grasp, only to jump in your lap 5 minutes later.

Nah, depending on the breed, different cats can be very independent. Mine isn't very cuddly either. He really doesn't like getting on laps or sleep on the bed. GB isn't different lool. If anything, I think Tan has an attachment problem probably due to the fact that he was taken from his mother very young. Many kittens become like Tan because they are sold at a too young age.

Get a cushiony chair or a small table and put a cushion on it. Put it right next to where you sit. That way your cat can be right beside you while you are on the computer. I had to do this when my dog was a puppy. She was a level 5 clinger and had to be on me at all times. So I moved my ottoman next to my desk and she felt comfortable knowing she was right next to me.

When my Sissy was tiny like Tan was in the beginning, she lie on my shoulder all night. Looking down at me. I thought it was adorable. Now that she’s fourteen and quite a chunky girl. I think Tan does this because he only knows you as mom. He never had a cat mom who could prepare him for life a little, who cleaned him or gave him love. You did that for him and he just needs it because he still sees himself as your baby. I know sometimes it´s hard. But Tan is one of the most adorable cats I know and who needs a lot of love. ♥ ♥ ♥

That shot of Tan snuggling with GB is such a joy to watch; it truly melts my heart! Such a cuddler, Tan is! He pairs really well with the Polar Bear Milky. Knowing that GB is not a cuddler makes me feel better about my cat. She will only cuddle on her terms. She very much prefers you to play hunt with her all day or until she gets tired or bored. I love her very much and I can't imagine life without her.

I don't think there's anything wrong w/teaching Tan independence. If he's constantly needy it's stressful for him to be constantly looking for human interaction. There's plenty of literature that speaks to this as it's not uncommon behavior but neither is it unkind to help your animals understand they will be just fine as long as they know you are there for them. Of course, Tan is still only 1 yr old so it's something he can learn over time.

I'd had "Tan problems" like these .I got a cat bed pillow for my lap so my growing cat would not slide so much. (I had found myself moving into uncomfortable positions to keep her happy). When I needed/wanted to move, it was simple to move 'cat on a pillow '. At night, I slept on my side for weeks until she got used to cuddling next to me. When I sleep now on my back, she will still cuddle along my side. I hope you two Butlers can find similar solutions in your home! (We do not often hear of Big Bro, but we always know he is part of this wonderful family!)

My cat was exactly like Tan! She always had to be in my lap or sleeping on top of me even if there was no room. Sense she pasted away last year its been really hard to cope with her not being on me when I sleep.

Cats can become creatures of habit. I know its hard but you need to set some boundaries whether its with work or your sleep time. If you don't you are slowly going to become agitated with having these awesome animals. I love my fur babies but I draw the line with allowing them to sleep with me. Your quality of life is very important, this will then allow you to give them the same quality. I work from home too but a few times a week I will take my work to a local coffee shop or library to have some private time. (Just ensure you get a VPN to protect your information if your work needs an internet connection).
