I dated a girl while I was in college. Let's call her Angie. I was head over heels for Angie. I hated children and never wanted any. But I was willing to step up and be a dad to the son she already had. I was that crazy for this girl. One night she calls me and lays out, in a very matter of fact way, that shed started seeing someone else. That she had to choose between me and him and that it wasn't really a contest. That I was a penniless college student and he had his own construction company. I moved on. I was head over heels for her but I could tell she wasn't feeling it and I'd been in so many terrible relationships by this point that it was just more wood on a massive bon fire. Angie calls me two months later explaining that the guy got her pregnant and that when she told him he immediately dumped her. And she wanted to know if I wanted to try again. My response was "Bitch, what kinda door mat do you think I am!?" And I hung up. She tried to call me a couple more times over the next few months until I blocked her number.

The worst part is that part of the fantasy was almost certainly that he thought he wouldn't need a condom or to pull out because the OP was infertile.

Wait, this wasn't all of that! Op adopted the girl she was fostering, but she had to move to another place because Ken kept showing up at her house, and later was arrested for stalking. Karen tried to make thr adoption impossible by saying that Op should adopt her kid, but Op just ignored her.

OP was a good sister. At the end of the day, Karen was acting spoiled, manipulative and was overstepping boundaries. OP was right to not enable her. Maybe one day Karen will grow up and learn to behave like an adult.

What hit me the hardest was the fact that Karen brought up the fact that OP was infertile.... that is such a horrible thing to say and nobody should ever have to hear that 💔

Karen after reaching her home country, tried to have a premature baby, to get money from the state, the baby was taken from her by child protective services & she is facing criminal charges.

Usually the most reserved siblings are the ones who go off when the situation arises 🤭

I can't imagine how scary that was... I have heard of this one story where this girl was dating this guy and the guy had a thing for the girls little sister so she went as far as to drug her little sister and allow her boyfriend to r*pe her sister... It also doesn't help that the sister was a child. The little sister ended up having a bad reaction to the drug that they used on her and ended up choking on her own vomit and dying. It's truly terrible whenever you trust someone and then they offer you up to some creep. I have even went through it with my foster mom offer me up to some Muslim guy... Thankfully nothing happened and I was able to get as far away from my foster mom as soon as I turned 18. But you will be surprised how often this happens from family members, friends, so on... I'm so glad op dodged that bullet.

Sounds like some serious daddy issues. The whole step-sister origin scenario gives me the impression there's a not-so-great father figure imprinted in Karen's mind & that's why she's drawn to a sleazebag like Ken. So my gut is to suspect Ken is the negative influence which would explain why OP finds Karen's behaviour so surprising and out of character for sisters that otherwise seem to have been close. Ken shows up at the house he isn't allowed at, Ken's fantasy is the big kickoff, Ken's baby, Ken is absent when any sort of "what do we do about this baby" talk is going on but shows up again to break into someone's house and change the locks. Karen's actions don't make much sense, but the pieces come together a little better if you consider them an extension of Ken's motives. Getting deported is probably the best thing for her, it forcibly removes Ken from the picture, gets a family member looking after her, and being a single mother might even deter future guys like him. Still, if she doesn't sort herself out, she'll find a way to get involved with someone just as bad in home country.

i had an ex friend who i thought was a good person only to find out they are an extremely 'woe-is-me' narcissist. She basically left her parents, who just lost their house for dead, to move in with her boyfriend and his family (his mom hate's her and rightfully so'). She ended up cheating on him with some guy who needed papers at the time, and since she didn't make enough she asked me for help and I unwillingly agreed. Even after multiple times of stating that I was uncomfortable and I didn't want to do it she kept pushing and I found out she submitted the documents with out my knowledge. Then, and I don;t know what the hell is wrong with her, but she tried to offer me to her ex as a new potential partner. I would rather get hit by a truck and get my vocal cords cut. Ew. I ended up cutting off all ties with her but now it really bothers me that they are using my name for something I didn't even want to do.

Just because someone is related to you, doesn't mean they are your family.

I sincerely hope the new family in Mary's house made it a point to change the locks AGAIN just to be on the safe side from Ken.

As a big sister myself, I would rather off myself than do what Karen did to my younger (half) sisters. OP is clearly not a jerk. Karen was handed so many options by the kindness of OP and Mary's heart. At this point, I'm wondering if she got a brain tumor or something that made her act out oddly.

She went above and beyond. My family shut me out for having a child out of wedlock at 16. I had no desire to involve these people. I wasnt their responsibility anyway. I dont get insisting that someone else should take care of you. Never take kindness for granted and do not expect it. Everyone has responsibilities they must deal with and if they cannot help then they cannot. Move on...

I'm a reserve person and calmly assess any situation but if I was infertile (I pray to God everyday that I am not) and someone just goes for that spot then I would be throwing hands, I feel guilty to a lot of things but punching the person who hit me where it hurts, no way will I feel guilty about this, especially if that person knows that my drive in life and what keeps me going is the fact that in the future I want to become a parent, like, how dare they, they just crossed the line at that point, and there's no going back

I will never understand people who intentionally have a baby they knowingly cannot provide for. I am NOT talking about rape or incest. I am talking about people who try to get pregnant knowing they have no way to care for the baby and try to leach off others. It is one thing to be a low income family who needs benefits to survive and it is completely irresponsible to knowingly bring a life into the world with no intent on caring for it. You did the more than right thing - but especially by protecting the little one you are already fostering. That child deserves a life free from the misery often cause by such people.
