@@allieg6401 Great question! This actually has to do with the product causing more issues to the client! There should be no possibility of contamination because every single tool used in any service must be cleaned with soap and water and also disinfected with a disinfectant that is usually always barbicide (which u actually need to have a license to even be able to use or purchase). If the tools are a one use item (ex. nail file, cotton ball, wooden cuticle pusher, ect.) they can simply be thrown away in a closed trash bin therefore causing no contamination to any other customers! i hope this helps! :)

MAKE SURE YALL NAIL TECHS ARE SANITIZING EVERYTHING, or getting new tools after EACH person. The drills, tools, files, etc. I went to Cosmetology school, had a course on facials / skin , and then another full course on just manis/ pedis/nails/ acrylics and such…Nail techs are supposed to use new tools or properly soaked/ sanitized nail tools with every single person- and that also includes acrylic brushes, nail buffers, and especially files since they are going to directly penetrate your nail bed / your skin (by making microscopic cuts) & fun fact: it’s illegal to use the nail drill on your natural nail. It can be used for acrylic but that’s a personal choice. One other tip: they are also supposed get a NEW POPSICLE STICK- every SINGLE TIME they dip to add / get more wax (we used to break pop-sticks into 3 or 4 smaller pieces, and learned to get enough and how to control what we had on the stick all at the same time)… think about it- the wax doesn’t get hot enough to kill germs 🤷🏽♀️ sorry people; so double dipping can and will eventually also cause infection on sensitive skinned ppl like myself (like a bacterial skin infection or folliculitis). Okay rant over 😂

Great job! I would love to do that, and I think it would help end my habit once and for all, but I don’t know anything about nails. Are gel nails the glue-on ones you can buy at the 2 dollar shop?
@ShrimplyYocoРік тому
@@borb9516 Hi Borb, do you mean those nail extensions you just glue on with superglue? If yes, then no - gel is not that. Gel needs to be cured with UV light and you either put it on your natural nail as an overlay, or on top of something else, like in my case on my dipping powder layer. Or you could use it as glue and put it beneath a plastic nail extension. Or you could use “builder gel” (which is just basically the same, just with a thicker consistency) to build your nail extension. Let me explain it this way. The are many different, popular systems for nails. Examples: Acryllic. Polygel. Dip Powder. Gel. normal nail polish, etc. I personally combine 2 of favorite systems: I do a thin coat of clear dipping powder to give my nails that badass strength, this allows them to grow so long (I use the dipping powder “ORLY Nail Rescue Kit”).And then a thin coat of base gel and top gel to give them that sexy, glassy look. My base gel is just one from Amazon, and my top gel is the “extreme shine top coat” from the brand “thegelbottle”. It’s more expensive, but it hardens super fast, doesn’t leave a sticky residue behind and shines like crazy - I’m just obsessed. But for complete beginners a beginner gel set from amazon should do. From all the videos I‘ve watched my absolute favourite one that explains EVERYTHING you need to know is: “HOW I GROW LONG NATURAL NAILS” by the UKposts channel “The Beauty Vault”. Doing your nails with gel at home is so rewarding and fun. It doesn’t have to be pricey either, for example you could start with a standard hand filing set rather than an e-file. Or instead using removing foil like her you could just cut aluminium foil and cotton pads yourself. :)

I agree!! Since young I had the problem. I noticed the biting/picking would simmer down when I got them done for special occasions. If I waited too long I’d rip them off and start biting again. So I started going consistently wearing acrylic for 2 years. Last year I cut them all off and wore builder gel to let them start to grow. Now they are super long and healthy! But yes the key is consistently getting them done/doing them yourself before they start to bother you. That way you don’t start to pick bc that’s how it starts 😅

I didn't stop biting until I was 17 (I'm 19 now) and what really helped was looking forward to painting my nails and having a larger canvas to work on. I still have yet to get my nails professionally done, but it will defiently be a milestone when I do ^^

As a nail biter, I agree. I started painting my nails and it honestly made me want to not bite them anymore because of their prettiness and now my nails are grown out and healthy and the skin around them is healed
@HubtiРік тому
I agree I was a bad nail biter until recently, I’d like to say Covid helped but I’ve worked in kitchens and that didn’t stop me. I HAVE to do my nails especially if something stressful is upcoming like a test because I KNOW my fingers go in my mouth when I’m nervous.

I bit my nails as a child. It was only when I started getting my nails done or did them myself I was able to stop biting them for good. Haven't bitten them in many years now. You're thought process is spot on for this issue

Absolutely correct. My hands never looked so good until I started taking care of the nails regularly. Finally stopped biting them and can go without extension for a while without issue now.

I could never relate to the nail biting thing, personally. My nails are like horns. But what a stellar manicurist you are to take the approach that you have taken to helping your customer! She will have a chance to break the habit and have pretty nails. 💅

Same, I tried biting them once and it hurt my teeth 😂 I’ve always struggled to cut them too because of that, so I just let them be long, even after becoming a nail tech I can’t really do anything about the length without a struggle 😂

I think, me included, many people don’t want to destroy the beautiful nails either which is why they try not to bite them as often, but when they do bite it’s fake nails so nothing real is damaged and it works, I’ve been able to grow my nails longer now which makes me v happy
@thedarknessofnanaРік тому
This is super correct. I bit my bails regularly down to where I never even knew what my nails looked like with a free edge, from about age 3 to age 17. I got my nails done (acrylics) for prom, and that started a change in my relationship with my finger biting habit. I worked _really_ hard to suppress the anxiety-fueled urge to bite my nails, and was able to stop biting long enough for the cuts around my nails to heal before I’d go to the salon (it was especially hard back when I would bite subconsciously). After I got acrylics, I realized that biting my nails didn’t give the same “satisfaction,” plus the acrylics didn’t break (thank God). Eventually, I found healthy ways to cope with anxiety and left my nail biting habits behind. Instead of biting, I’ll whip out a nail file and an angle nail clipper and clean up my nail area. Now, I have healthy looking nails and always have a free edge, but they break when they’re half a cm long. I’m about to get into gel nails once I can afford the beginner kit.😊

Then when I finally went no contact in my 30s with the toxic person in my life that has produced so much anxiety in my life, I suddenly stopped chewing my nails. I wish I could do this but I bite my literally down to nothing, to the point of bleeding usually. It's completely uncontrollable, unless I am wearing beautiful nails (which usually pop off because there's nothing to hang onto, there almost no nail bed at all). I appreciate you for understanding the struggle and not making her feel less beautiful or worthy of a nice manicure. You understand the difference it can make!!
@caerfaimamaРік тому
Bless you. I hope you manage to conquer the habit. I used to bit mine till they were so short. On a couple of occasions I actually chewed off most of the nail bed and even exposed the flesh below. It was so tender and painful. They did heal and grow back. It's a form of self harm. I couldn't remember a time when I didn't but my nails and I only stopped last year aged 53.

Omg you might just save me, I’ve bitten my nails and I hate them. I wish I had beautiful ones and slowly I’ve tried to control myself. My nails got so bad that when people have to put bands on your hand I was too embarrassed. Every second I thought of the disgusted look of a nail tech when they saw my hands. You’ve inspired me and I might just get them.

I used to ravage my nails - biting, chewing and tearing at them. I got a deep manicure and gel done - I haven't mauled my fingers since then. It's almost a year now. The skin is healthy and my nail bed is actually growing out. My nails are the longest they've ever been, and for the first time I can remember, I don't have hang nails. Nail techs, you are miracle workers!

I used to be a biter. And my saving point was when a friend of my mother started with her nailtech education, and she needed all sorts of models to take to her school, including nail biters. She did a great job, and I started to love my nails. She really did safe my nails. And yes, she passed her exams and is a nailtech, she has all sorts of diploma's now❤ All you lovely people in the nail industry, you don't know how much of an angels you are changing peoples life by doing this 🙏

It’s easy for people to say that the nail techs that rejected her “didn’t know how to do it”. But that’s not true. People don’t know that nail techs have to work within their scope of practice and there are risks that they can’t deal with. Infections and diseases are things that can risk everything.
@Tiffany_graceРік тому
When I always would bit my nails really bad, my family suggested to maybe try and get my nails done. I went to many salons with no hope, until one day a salon was willing to work with my short wonky nails. They recommend I also get a little thicker of an acrylic to keep it from cracking when I kept biting them. After about a year of consistently going to get my nails done, I not only loved how pretty they looked, but I stopped biting them significantly.
@lionessroarsjohnson268410 місяців тому
I was a nail biter as a kid and, how I stopped was I began to grow my nails out and, paint them. That was like the sixth grade I believe. When you're nails are taken care of, that helps to stop the biting. That's the perfect length for her.
