1:23:29 you can actually see the pulse before the fire. It’s not shutting the valves completely so the gas from the vent on the left of the vessel comes out a bit less prominently for a few seconds, then it opens up all the way 10-15 seconds before the tri vent shuts down. It’s extremely subtle though!

Everybody listen to this: tomorrow’s overpressure notice was not for the Static fire but to test the Nosecone test stand! Elon Tweeted that static fire was complete and ready for flight later this week, even though there’s a notice tomorrow. The nosecone is gonna pop tomorrow!
@Jaker788
@Jaker788 3 роки тому
Given that this is the section above the main tanks, what overpressure event is possible with that test? There's no evidence for the tip header or plumbing. That notification could have been sent out before they knew it was good just in case.
@topsecret1837
@topsecret1837 3 роки тому
@@Jaker788 They also said in the notice that this was a non-flight test. And considering the proximity of the nosecone to SN15, it makes more sense to test it to failure before SN15 flies, lands, crashes or explodes, which may damage the nosecone. it’s likely that it was quicker to copy+paste with the same notifying procedure than to make a whole new notice for a different test, with similar road closure times. Aside from that we know Wednesday is the planned date for launch, so I don’t think SpaceX would gamble a SF again if that risks damaging the raptors and putting them behind schedule for it.
@topsecret1837
@topsecret1837 3 роки тому
In addition, testing the nosecone before the launch would give them the data to decide whether one flight profile would be better than the other. We don’t know what profile it will fly, and will very certainly fly the same profile if the Max-Q test gives back a force limit they would not want to try with SN15 in flight. So my theory is this: 1. SN15 has a suborbital trajectory in mind, where most of its flight is controlled by being sent upwards at a very fast speed then slown down by gravity before belly flopping at apogee. No need to reach space. 2. All starships are inherently robots with a program running in their computers. When a SF happens, the full sequence happens during and after they cut external lines to it, leaving it under internal power. They could have multiple programmed flight profiles set for testing them in the near future, from the 10km hover flight we know they do to space suborbital flights, on the SS’s own power. 3. Depending on the values of the Max Q test tomorrow, they might take the program that keeps the vehicle under the Max Q while pushing higher altitude or getting there much quicker. This means anything could happen on Wednesday. It’s hard to remind people that with automation this could be drastically different than expected.
@Jaker788
@Jaker788 3 роки тому
@@topsecret1837 I don't see how an unpressurized structural load test would require a road closure, or a notice to residents about anything if there's no danger to them. I'm not saying there will be a static fire, I just think the notice was probably in the works before they had the data or to keep options open. But also I don't see why SpaceX would be afraid of breaking an engine from another static fire, if it breaks it's likely not have broken in flight or on the flip anyway, and it would have been a starship issue to be solved since these are long duration tested at Mcgregor before they get shipped to Boca. It would certainly be nice to see SN15 go higher than 10km or 32,000ft, but they'll probably stick to 10km since it's already at terminal velocity very early in it's belly flop and they don't seem to need that much aero handling data per test since they were fine with scrapping a few prototypes to get on with the next iteration and test the new changes. There's a slight possibility of a faster accent that goes supersonic, however only SpaceX knows how starship would handle aerodynamically at supersonic speeds without a booster (through simulation). My bet would be only after SN15 at least, better to keep flight variables the same and prove things first.

From what I know a full flow state engine like the raptor would be really difficult with hydrogen becouse it could leak through the engine due to the small molecular size and that could interfere with the engine's precise working

From the beginning the issues have come from the raptor engines. Would it be possible to place at least 2 cameras closer to each engine so we can observe their functions in greater detail and hopefully find what's causing the issue? Also consider painting the lines, pipes or cables with different colors so it's easier to identify with the cameras. GO SPACE X!!!

The MM light experiment was design to detect the so called aether which was believed to be the medium that light waves travelled through. Like sound travels through air. They expected to see a difference in the speed of light between 2 beams traveling at 90 degrees to each other. No difference was found over the course of a year and at varying directions of the two beams. So they were unable to detect the aether. Einstein used that and other work and experiments to determine that the speed of light is the same for all observers about 10 or 15 years later.

@PsychoticWolfie
@PsychoticWolfie 3 роки тому
It does! Between Starship SN9 and SN10, they decided to start all 3 engines for the landing burn, then shut off the 2 that perform the worst, as Starship can land on just 1 engine. So basically it already has 2 backup engines for the final landing burn, but also future versions will have 6 raptors, 3 sea level and 3 vacuum raptors, so there will be even more engines in case of emergency :)
@Jaker788
@Jaker788 3 роки тому
@@PsychoticWolfie They actually can't land on 3 or 2 engines, it's too much thrust to time correctly. Same reason why SpaceX failed at 3 engine falcon landing experiment's and stuck to 1. The plan was to start all 3 for the flip and it can deal with 1 being bad and shut it down, needs a minimum of 2 for a stable flip, then switch to 1 engine for the vertical landing. It looks like it never shut down an engine during the flip like it was initially planned, maybe after the comment they found that way better. However they are looking into if the minimum throttle can go lower to allow a 2 engine vertical landing for redundancy. Going below 40% is difficult though.
