We have no way of knowing how their affair was carried out. It was secret after all. In such a situation, you want to involve as few people as possible, particularly staff of whose loyalties you can never be completely sure.

Elizabeth loved her, but she didn’t understand her and her emotions, I believe she wasn’t jealous of her like the rest of the royal family, because she isn’t one to be envious as she has high confidence and power. I believe she loved her, critiqued her, and was greatly saddened by her passing. You have to understand she knew this girl since she was a young child, almost one of her own. The Queen just isn’t a person to show open affection and admiration in the same way as Diana. She’s very stoic, very professional.

Yes, Diana was a lot more perceptive and intelligent than people gave her credit for, and it must have driven her apart to have been in a loveless marriage, knowing that your husband was sleeping with someone else on the side, trying to please his mother, the Queen, and constantly being scrutinised by the public.
