Re: the "weird voltage" of the Lego power brick I'm sure this is based on the -EV3- Technics battery pack, which used 6 AA batteries. Alkaline AA batteries have a typical voltage of 1.4 volts, so 6 of them would add up to 8.4 volts. Maybe the HAT and motors would work at 9 volts (nominal 1.5v times 6), but that's a question for the Pi Foundation. I hated that battery pack. It was designed almost intentionally to trap 2 AAs in places where you need something like an iSesamo to pop them out.

Those DIN rail terminal blocks look great!!! Is there any way to add solder points if you want to split the 10-way block into multiple wires?

Please expand the DIN Rail 2 to 6 Product to a byte friendly 2 to 8 setup :-)

Not that I have use for the DIN rail stuff, but I used to work with industrial machines so it got me curious. What is the max power rating? If someone where to run 240volts AC at 10A across it, I would guess it wouldn't like it. Just a guess from the fact it has push connectors instead of screw terminal blocks. I don't need to know as I have no use for them ATM, just curious.

Looking at the manufacturer's website it is supposedly rated for 300V@10A. They also have 2x12 and 2x24 models.
