No trophy not even a Heisman will guarantee anything in the NFL. The Heisman awards the athlete that played the best throughout the season at the college level. However, I think most coaches at the professional level understand that success at the college level doesn’t automatically translate to success at the pro level. I think Manziel is a perfect example of that. It’s

@@christopherrodriguez1777 I agree. Where I thought he went sideways wasn’t necessarily his party lifestyle. Truth is, at least in my opinion for what it’s worth, he wasn’t all that good a quarterback to begin with. Many of teams and coaches overlooked certain behaviors and shortcomings of players provided they had some ability that made them a great player of some kind. Manziel just didn’t fit into that equation. It’s possible that his ability was directly linked to his choice on lifestyle but then again maybe not.

I wonder if RG3 never got hurt and Washington was able to draft and build more. Would they have contended for a super bowl in a few years after. Although his coaches would have to BURRY in his mind to slide when scrambling for yards. That's what separates Russell Wilson from other mobile QBs his sliding is A1 so is Aaron Rodgers. I always feel that Robert wasn't given a fair chance to just play his game. HE WAS VERY COACHABLE but you can't tell a player to not do something he naturally AND INSTINCTIVELY does best and tell him too only throw the ball is bull shit. That's why I didn't like the coaching decisions to change there offense for year 2. I like Kirk Cousins TENACITY when playing. He will sling the SHIT out of the ball but will coast you some deadly turnovers. IF RG3 was playing is today's NFL coming in fresh he would fit in. 9 years ago they were still emphasizing pocket QB. If I play QB at New Mexico State for example, with a subpar team, and play excellent, going 8-4 with a not so great team, I could excel in the NFL where I have much better players around me. A heisman winner who goes #1 overall is also likely going to start in a trainwreck of an organization as well, which will probably kill their career. Skillsets required in the NFL are also much different. In college, you see teams scoring 40+ points regularly, while in the NFL, most teams score around 20-low 30s. The game differs just so much. Because the players in college are still pretty much kids (and the vast majority won’t be good enough for the NFL) the top athletes always stand out a bit more. Especially with quarterback, you don’t really need great decision making or pinpoint accuracy to be a top college QB. I think one of the best examples of this is Johnny Manziel. Because he was faster then everyone else, he could just run around until someone got open. But once he got to the NFL, most edge rushers were faster then him, so he needed to actually play QB.
