1 game closer to THE CURSE

At this point, the best thing Leaf fans can do is bet against their team. If the Leafs win the next game, they lose money but get to witness a historic event. If Leafs lose, they can still get free money out of it. Say what you want about me being a Jets fan, but betting against the Leafs every year after being up 3 in a series has been a gold mine for me.

No fan in the NHL doubts the skill/ talent the Leafs have on their team... they doubt the effort, they doubt the follow-through

Good Morning from Prague ( my home of the last 30+ years). Well I was 6 the when I watched the leafs last win the cup (sitting on my dad's lap in our basement in Calgary)...of course it's also the last time they have been in the finals...which perhaps is more of a sad reality than not having won since then. But lets not forget that there is/were other teams with long stretches of ineptitude and pain of not being able to win it all...Shall we go through some of them: NYR had a 54 year cup drought, Chicago 49yrs, Detroit 42 years, Boston 38 years, it took St. Louis 53 years to finally win it, LA 45 years, Washington took 44 years to win the cup, Flyers haven't won in 48 years, its been 40 years since the Islanders have won. Van and Buff are both into a 53 year stretch of never having won the cup since joining the league which maybe is the worst record of ineptitude. Minnesota (with two different franchises) have never won over a combined 49 years of NHL play...Winnipeg with two franchises have never won in 29 combined years. A lot teams and fans had long stretches of heartbreak...four of those being Original Six teams. But Toronto is Toronto and it's arguably the most unforgiving, pressure filled Hockey Market and perhaps any major sports market. I think it's how they have lost in recent years that has really turned the screw of agony. And warranted or not, there is no team that people (mostly Canadians) love to see lose more than the Leafs. Leafs fans and media probably don't do themselves any favours in this regard. I'm a Leafs at heart but I always will cheer for Original Six teams over any other team...those teams are all part of my childhood ,and all of my childhood hockey Heroes were obviously from those teams. In a side note, I was fortunate to have been (at a young age) taken on a trip by my Dad to see all of my heroes play live in all of the Original Six teams classic home Arenas: Maple Leaf Gardens, Montreal Forum, Chicago Stadium, Olympia in Detroit, Madison Square Garden, Boston Garden. I frankly don't care if I see the Leafs win the cup again...it would be nice, but I'm ok if I never see them win another cup. I've seen everything I need to see in terms of Hockey....including being in the building for 2 Canadian Olympic Gold Medal wins, 3 Canadian wins at IIHF World Championships, 5 Spengler cup wins, 2 Canada Cup Final wins., and 7 World Junior wins.

Leafs win and they post full Highlights in 5 minutes . Leafs lose and they take their sweet ass time posting ….

Instead they BUCKLE on home ice & The Lightning have all the Momentum going back home to Tampa Bay where I predict they win and force Game 7... As a Canucks fan, I remember in 2011 we'd lost to Chicago so many years in a row in the playoffs, and we ended up in a Game 7 with them, despite us being the top team in the league. And then it went to OT. And it felt like it was a real curse. And then we won anyway. So, of course, our curse was not nearly as insane as the Leaf's version, but the curse can be broken. The Dragon can be slayed. Don't give up until its over.

I didn't see the game but sure as hell know the feeling of dread I now have. I'm a 61 year old Leafs' fan who pretty much has seen it all. Here we HOPEFULLY DON'T go again. If these guys fail AGAIN it may be history setting for them in a VERY BAD way. If you're a true diehard of my vintage or older,you'll know what I'm hinting at. I like stats and have several NHL facts books and it just occurred to me that the Leafs could end up in it in a new,very negative way. Think about two years ago and 1987. Come on fellas!! Let's get this done!!

As a lifelong Bills fan I know what it feels like to be a Leafs fan because the Bills are the NFL's version of them always choking in the playoffs. If you think choking a 3-1 series lead is bad, as a Bills fan 13 seconds and the music city miracle is even worse. Bills will never win the Super Bowl just like how the Leafs will never win a playoff round. Bills = Leafs of the NFL.

Listen, hear me out. Even the Avalanche, the only team to take out Tampa Bay last year on their run to the cup lost 2 games and it had to go to 6. But on that 6th game IN TAMPA, they defeated them. The Leafs can do the same.

Did anyone really think the Bolts were just going to go away? Tonight's result doesn't surprise me one bit, the Bolts have been dominating most of the series thus far despite being down in games. Toronto fans thought tonight would be the night because why? Because the Leafs have been outplayed for most of the series? Now Vassy is on a mission to prove he's still got it. Good luck Leafs.

Justin Holl has gotta sit out the rest of the series and never play again for Toronto. At this point anyone else couldn't be worse and hurt the team. He made some big mistakes including dropping his stick, skating backwards then turning the wrong way on the attacking player.

All we heard last game was Vasi can get beat from the point; he isn't the same as he once was...blah blah blah... The Leafs deflection/ tip goals in game 4 were skillful/ and amazing.. they were also the only thing that was going to beat Vasi (and any other goalie in the history of the league) that night. This guy is minimum top 10 goalie of all time- you Leaf fans don't have respect! If we don't see more of these Deflection/ goals from the Leafs and the Lightining are scoring more than two goals every night.., consider the series over for Toronto. Toronto will be hard pressed to think they can beat Vasi straight up (without deflections) more than two times a game

The upside of 60 minutes of hockey is that they won more of the faceoffs. EVERYTHING else goes to Tampa. Samsonov - whom has been stellar to date - absolutely DESTROYS the Leafs by allowing a pee-wee league goal early in the game. ??? That's got to be a confidence builder FOR TAMPA! Marner chooses figure skating over hockey. TWICE he was in close with the puck but wanted to twirl around for a second pass however he lost the puck both times and the Bolt end up on a break!?! ...from scoring to getting scored on, literally in seconds!! Then, he gets a clean break-away - my mother could have saved that!?! I appreciate that Matthews gets extra coverage and he did stand up for Giordano but he is being paid to score goals....bottom line. AND, on that hit-from-behind on Giordano, why is Matthews of-all-people, going after Moron? These guys are embarrassingly SOFT! Defensively, they were spineless sieves - all of them, including Schenn who played well in the previous game. ??? A cavernous lack of offensive "finish". Virtually, no defense. HUGE mistake by the goalie at a pivotal time. A gutless representation of play-off hockey. Other-than-that, the Leafs did well! This isn't about Tampa's play-off history. It's about a lack of intestinal fortitude on the Leaf bench. I'd like to say. "You have to feel bad for Keefe" , HOWEVER, when you play Holl - who SHOULD be wearing a Bolts jersey - you get what you deserve. But, does the rest of his line deserve that?
