The comments really speak to the mentality and level of ignorance of some people. They are so concerned with how she looks then/now...why look at the interview and not really “hear” the interview. Go to a porn site if you want to look at women and idolize their looks. 🤦🏽‍♀️. History, wisdom, and class is not possessed by everyone.

Now that I have time to think about it? Do you think it's more because, at age 28, she was a hardcore militant, saying that religion was a disease and a device for oppression? And now, 50 years later, she's saying that church is good? That's a huge tonal shift, but time mellows everyone.

It's so healthy to show up and stay in dialogue. For this reason, I love her thoughts and inflections. She's provocative, makes me reflect and want to speak up. For eg, 'learn how to live instead of fight with cancer' made me think that fighting in any situation is a recipe for losing. Fighting sucks life energy where intelligent dialogue is efficient. And, yes, I can imagine the great interactions she had. Humble, yet a magnet for intelligent thought and vibrant interactions. Even if I don't agree with everything, I LOVE listening to her.

The harder the road, the greater the products. Ms. Giovanni came up during a time when the struggle was clear. We knew where the potholes were. When you have little, you venture out into the battle, confident that victory has to be yours. Today, we cruse, at least we think we do, on smooth roads, covered with a thin veneer of opportunity. The potholes are still there, and every once and a while we hit one; they're called George Floyd, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice...

I think everything we fight for when we are younger seems unwavering but as we age we see that change will come within.... I close my eyes to envision the youthful unyielding Nikki , she is not there...and should she be? She served her time and she made an impact when we needed it the most . Now it is time for others to carry her torch with the unwavering convictions she had as young woman but with a new baseline to fit a new generation . Nothing stays the same... hmmmm much love to you Nikki and thank you for giving us the best of you over the years. Everything must change Nothing stays the same Everyone must change No one stays the same The young become the old And mysteries do unfold Cause that's the way of time Nothing and no one goes unchanged There are not many things in life You can be sure of Except rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky And hummingbirds do fly Winter turns to spring A wounded heart will heal But never much too soon Yes everything must change The young become the old And mysteries do unfold Cause that's the way of time Nothing and no one goes unchanged There are not many things in life You can be sure of Except rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky And butterflies do fly Rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky And music And music Makes me cry
