this song means so much to me. i grew up listening to this. this is the sound of pure childhood for me. it reminds me of my dad, how he wanted to teach me so much and help me grow. he died of cancer when i was 7. after that, i didn’t hear this song again until i was 14. i was depressed, barely clinging to survival, and at one point nearly tried to end my life. when i listened to this song again, something in me changed. it didn’t cure me, but it gave me a reason to get better. i think i realized that there was a chance i could be happy with life again. im 18 now, an age i thought i would be gone by. i graduate high school in a month, and im attending my dream college in the fall. i still have such a long journey ahead of me. this song saved me. this music video is beautiful. this song is beautiful, life is beautiful. if you’re reading this, you’re beautiful. i know that because you’re alive. keep on breathing. its an honor and privilege to be alive with you all

In dark times, this song somehow gives hope. I think because it recognizes that we may not be able to find a way to make our dreams come true.. but that we can keep trying... that there is a better place or way for all of us. Simple, yet somehow powerful enough to make this average suburban middle aged guy sit here with tears in my eyes. We are lucky to have had Israel be able to capture this somehow.
