These oil filter suppressors are the best I've heard for suppression. The first time that I heard one used was by some guy using one on a semi auto rifle and you literally could only hear the action of the moving parts of the rifle itself. You could only hear the movement of the parts due to the gasses released and that was it, it was without doubt the most quiet I have ever heard a suppressor, in fact much better than anything else ide heard that was actually made to do so before or since. I purchased 2 of these on a form 4 many years ago in 2012. They are ridiculously quite. The filter that was sent to me with the registered adapter had a lot of volume. I put it on an AK-74 and it was very quiet, surprising, with the 5.45x39 round. Note it will start to burn out after 100 rds of 5.45x39. Still it’s more of a novelty to me. Is it worth the $200 tax depends. Edited Part: I need to clarify. The registered item is NOT the oil filter. There is a small metal adapter made of steel, in my case, and threaded 1/2x28 and threaded on the other side to accept the standard oil filter. This part is serialized and registered as a suppressor with ATF. The oil filter is classified as a suppressor wipe. So a whip is a part of a suppressor that makes contact with the bullet, and is replaceable. The suppressor is the threaded adapter not the oil filter, this case. Now If you got an oil filter and put it around a barrel of a gun and shoot the gun with it on, at that time the oil filter it self would be an unregistered suppressor, according to ATF.

I saw one of these on hickok45's channel way back in like 2012. I thought it was just a meme, but thinking about it now, there probably is some real tactical value here. If there were a natural disaster or some other event that would cause you to not be able to fix your 1000 dollar silencer, then you could still shoot quietly with one of these. Don't get me wrong, I'm not shitting on expensive tubes that the ATF regulates, I have a few, but it's a good backup.

I said “how long does it take to get your stamp?” He said about 2-3 months with e-filing and 12-16 months traditional paperwork. I said, “I’ll just trust my eardrums to not explode during a home invasion.” And you know what he said? “You can use an oil filter.” And now this was on top of my recommended videos? 🤨

@@Betterifitsfree also if you shoot suppressed you should recognize that blow back is gas pressure momentarily trapped in the supressor. Those gasses are forced back down the barrel/ gas system into the chamber and then exit. If there is free floating material inside that suppressor it seems like it would be likley that material would follow those gasses.
