I have been to Florence, I have been to the province of Grosseto, in which, I find, the town of Monticello is located, but I did not know there was a Monticello there. Heavens! That was a tough clue. I was trying to think of some place where Americans fought in WWII in Italy.

I guessed it was Pisa, which is also about 30 miles from Florence. And familiar to American tourists.

That’s a brutal clue, would’ve liked a better hint than “American.” Maybe throw in the word “Presidential” somewhere and we would’ve had a chance.

This clue was hella difficult! My guess was Siena. It's a hillside town, ~30 miles from Florence, the adjusted spelling "sienna" refers to a brownish color, which was produced in the city during the Renaissance period - thought that might be the connection to Americans...

Fun Fact: This is the 3rd time in a row where after the 3 Semi-Finals air on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, the eventual winner comes from the Monday game. 1st, Justin Bolsen from the High School Reunion Tournament. Then, Josh Saak from our very 1st Champions Wildcard. Now, this, with Deb Bilodeau. I’m not sure if there’s something fishy going on with this.

I lived in Florence for two years. Had no idea about this! A tough one for sure. Went for St. Gemignano, I tiny town flooded with tourists all the time.

"Monte" is mountain, not hill, but I still guessed it (though wasn't certain). Italian name, something to do with a mountain, but a small one, famous American equivalent. Florence being such a famous Renaissance city only added to the likelihood. "Collina" is hill in Italian, so "Columbia" was the next closest, but really, outside of DC, the word "Columbia" really doesn't mean much to most Americans given that it's a very outdated term for the country. But Montecello is the most famous presidential residence (and Mount Vernon ain't Italian at all).

How on earth could anyone get this in 30 seconds? This is not appropriate for a tournament final like this. What does "familiar to Americans" mean? That implies Americans know it exists (we don't - we just know about Jefferson's estate). What "little hill" is it named after? Nothing indicates that that is the exact translation. There is nothing that one can parse the clue with quickly since it's all so vague! A better clue would have been "This town in Tuscany, which shares its name with an American landmark, translates to English as "little hill"" - and then you have 30 seconds to figure out what landmark that could be. Wouldn't be the first time the FJ category was deceptive!

Come on, the hill obviously points towards something with "mont-" in it. The harder part is knowing what Monticello is to confirm your guess (not American, so I only heard it in Hamilton)

@@daff42 unless Italian is your first language and the specific Italian word for a hill gets in your way, I'm struggling to see a problem. On the other hand, "mont" is present in all kinds of toponyms, many of which are obviously named after hills and not mountains (Montreal, Montevideo, Montmartre etc.)

Sorry, but a badly worded clue. How should we know to translate "little hill", and I thought that the Tuscan town was familiar to American visitors and that we needed to figure out the name of the town named after some hill that was little. Another element should have been added to the clue.

Yeah I had trouble with it. The only Italian hill I know offhand is Capitoline in Rome, and the Italian name is "Campidoglio" No help here

@@emeraldaly7646 I've been watching since it came back in the 80's. I'm pretty good at deciphering the meaning of the clue. I thought this one required specific knowledge, i.e., you either knew the town or didn't. Sorry, Jeopardy. Just badly done.

I thought the crew were keeping the podiums separated temporarily because of covid protocols, Alex clearly said from one episode "We are keeping the contestants safe from covid 19" which equals WTF, notice how Ken still hasn't walked to the players during their interviews and him the players still haven’t gotten together in the credits yet? That hasn’t happened since season 36, from Family Feud and the price is right the crew reverted the podiums back to normal, so why not Let’s make a deal and Jeopardy and wheel yet? Screw you to the people that say social distancing makes everything better, cause it doesn’t. Shouldn't the contestants be together again since season 36 because covid is gone?
