That thing is huge! OneTigris impresses me with the way they are creating very affordable shelters, the quality seems good, and their designs are unique. They're heavy and I see them more as a car camping design, but I do think they're pretty cool.

When I was in scouts 50 + years ago we used to do something similar with our heavy canvas wall tents, extra poles and a couple of tarps. We were endlessly finding ways to make totally new tent designs out of the materials we had. This is a very similar concept. I like this tent because it allows the user to adapt to his or her needs. Kids could have a ball with this camping. They could make it big enough to hold several friends at one time.

One set up in the video reminds me of the 1960s BSA Canvas Baker Tent. Our Troop in NH in the 1960s used the BSA Canvas Explorer Tent.

Jeff Murdock, if a good wind would hit one of those old Baker tents on the door side it might blow to the next county. Ha. I owned a Explorer tent. I really liked that tent. I still love canvas tents. Today I use a 10 by 14 Kodiak Canvas Flexbow VX. It is so much better than we had in the 60s.

My Troop in NJ used the canvas cabin style tents as well. No floors, just old swimming pool liners as ground sheets.

The BSA Explorer tent, due to its design did better in wind & winter conditions than Wall tents or Baker tents.

With the side opened up it reminds me of our old (early 70's) canvas Boy Scout tents, one called the Baker and the other was the Camper.. They both weighed over 20 pounds and you had to make your own poles at the campsite. I like this tent!

Onetigris is the first tent company that I turned to, after realizing that I was getting too old to build a lean to, or A frame every time I spent a week in the woods. When I got the Black Orca Smokey Hut, I was in love. And, I really like this tent here: I think that I would have it configured the way you had it. I think it's going to do great on your review! Stay safe out there and God bless!

Yea, I'm impressed with the design. Not sure it would suit the type of camping I like to do. But is rather innovative. Kudos to OneTigris for thinking outside the box. I'm also intrigued with the Outback Retreat. Looking forward to your review of it.

Tell you what, Luke. Your channel is quite unique and I've been following you for some time now. The simple usp of zero affiliates and therefore zero influence is what makes me watch and listen to your thoughts and advice, knowing that you're doing what you do for your viewers alone. And your professionalism in front of the camera has really, really developed over the years. Heck, I watch everything you film and most of it I won't ever buy, lol..!

I bought the OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 after you reviewed it and I love it. It withstood one of the heavy rains we had here recently...Hurricane Isaias. I would think that due to the greater expanse of tent material in the Roc Shield it could be an issue with heavy rain and snow. However, as you suggested, angling the poles could promote run-off. Snow would definitely present you with weight bearing problems motivating you to constantly scrape or beat the interior walls to shake the snow off. It's still an awesome looking shelter and I especially like the second configuration you set up. I can already envision an overland camping set up where you can place table, chairs, a cot under the "awning" and you just kick back and enjoy a BBQ/fire pit just beyond the edge of the awning. Awesome review, Luke, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the results of the prolonged rain test. I bought one of those straw folding mats that Walmart sells and based on your measurements I believe it would fit in the tent floor area. I use this mat under an Aqua Quest 10X10 tarp allowing me to walk around with socks on or even bare feet; and I can hop out of my hammock and not worry about touching dirt or wet ground. When I get home I just drape it over my back fence and it'll dry out in an hour or so after hosing it off. No worries about splinters, rocks or ants. Your taking the time to actually measure lengths, widths and heights is an incredible aid to us who are concerned about these measurements. It really helps us in the decision process...so, thank you for that. If I recall I believe you are the only reviewer who does that.

I love that they're trying something new. Although for me, I would probably take a big tarp for the 3 pounds it weighs... Those stake loops can be easily fixed with small loops of shock cord - do that to a lot of my gear, especially inners.

Really interested in some of these new OneTigris products. Looking forward to your reviews Luke! I'm in South Central Texas and just got back from a weekend family camping trip. Something like this would have been a major plus as a sort of shade / canopy / living area during the day. Definitely would need a bug net to sleep in it comfortably right now, but I can definitely see some great uses for this product.

A reasonable flexi-pitch basic tent selling within a basic tent price range. I need an inclosed tent with a no-see-um screen and a bathtub floor to start to be impressed...because those protections make me emotionally and physically comfortable outdoors. I AM IMPRESSED by the amount of space under shelter! Your tips about changing the poles up to alter the roofline point to a benefit about not having every set of poles shock-corded. This is also IMPRESSIVE for those of us who might deploy it over a raised bed. NEW WRINKLE ON AN OLD BROW: I make reinforced frames for this type of tent using PVC plumbing pipes and associated joints: extra ribs help to maintain the cover geometry and to provide snow load support. DOWNSIDE: a level pitching surface is required, such as a platform built on a favorite site.

Nice looking tent Luke! Though I could see where maybe in heavy rain it would not be so great because to me it would look like the rain would come in underneath. It don't really look much like a tent to me, but more like a very well made tarp. I never seen a tent like that before.

That looks like it would be great for back country base camping in a spruce grove. I usually only go in about 2 to 4 miles for base camping, so the weight would be heavy, but doable. I could walk around easily under that. Looking forward to test night.
@bc5766

That way you have it setup is so spacious. I grew up fishing in upstate NY in the fall...random pop up showers and squalls up that way i guess because of the lake effect. That would be cool to have near a fire with some camp chairs underneath to get dry in a hurry without everyone having to button up in their tents. We would use tarps and things but it was always difficult to find good tie offs at the campground and if the wind picked up it wasnt much help anyway.

I could see this used for a Group camping trip if you plan on setting up a basecamp and you want a place to keep certain gear and maybe firewood dry. The lack of a floor is the one part that turns be off. I don't personally trust a footprint like that to keep me dry in the rain.

I see it as a fun and fancy tarp setup or rainfly rather than a tent. I guess that is why they call it a bushcraft tent. I don't want to have to put up a bug-tent inside my supposed "tent". Ground runoff water from the rain will flow right through it and you will hopefully be on another tarp that you will be trying to keep the water off of, or hey, put up a real tent with a floor under this tent. Snakes, mice, ants, and other crawly things will love getting under this with you.

OneTigris seems to change (as in improve/redesign based on customer feedback) their products in short release cycles. Very interesting to observe.. but sometimes frustrating, when a 'good' product sells out fast (due to low production volume of test runs). This tent is not for me, too heavy for hiking, but for car camping or as an addon to an RV, it might work...
