you should foam the car dry then rinse off. just blasting it with water first pushes the dirt around potentially scratching. foaming 1st will louden the dort and drag it down and cpr9vide a much more effective rinse which then makes the one bucket method even better. I sometimes do a no bucket method with a coyote mitts and pressure wash off the mitt wring out and resoak for c the next panel. hey as long as you're being safe and using precautions do whatever way you like

Yeas because if you foam it first, the dirt levitates on your paint and does not scratch your car. What a bunch of bull*** Or maybe the dirt gets tiny wings from all the foam and fly away from the car.

This is the exact method I’ve been using for years. First introduce by Garry Dean. It’s not only safer but actually *faster* than having to rinse mitts. And yes, using the chenille wash mitts is MUCH easier and easier to remember to use than MF towels. I actually avg about 8 Wash Mitts (front and back) for an entire car. Only other thing I would add is 1) foam prewash, 2) Rinse, 3) Foam again for lubrication 4) do NOT rise, but instead, start your hand wash mitts with one bucket method above. Lastly, I would recommend, keep track of which mitts hits the dirtier parts of your car (lower fenders, lower doors, bumpers) bc those mitts should be hand rinse or pressure rinsed before throwing in washer with your other mitts.

I use 2 buckets one for wheels and one for paintwork. Only use 2 mitts on paintwork but I give them a rinse with garden hose after doing each side. I wish my car weekly and live in a fairy clean environment so combined with good prewash process I get very minimal scratches.

Nice video. I have been going to 1 bucket late summer last year and into winter where I go to the Coin Wash bay place. Snow Foam with my IK e Foam Pro 12 and rinse then those Chemical Guys Chenille Pads (I got 3 of them) after another foam if I can. Chennille pads or mitts are best for washing a body on the car. I found on my first try of edgeless microfiber towels it never had the sudsy feel on the bodywork and they get caught on the grille and emblems kinda stuff on the car and would drop one once in a while.

I use a two bucket method, but I use four mitts. Two for upper portion of car and two for lower section. I start with the first mitt washing and about half way thru I flip the mitt over and wash the second half. Then go to bucket and drop off mitt and grab second one and repeat on second side. This way I always have a clean mitt.

Stepped away from the 2 bucket con 12 months ago. A good pressure wash and regular cleaning, and a good pre rinse and foaming is the answer. Chamois can cause swirls etc as well. Blow drying is a huge change, especially when your car is ceramic coated.

I’ve always done the two bucket wash but like you said it takes so long to scrub the mitt on the grit guards between both buckets before making contact again. Definitely switching to one bucket and ordering more mitts to make washing faster and easier. Do recommend still getting two buckets so you can toss the used ones in the other bucket then you can carry them to your washer to wash them when you’re done

I clean my microfiber towels and drying towels with Rags To Riches detergent every time I rinseless wash my car. I don't use the mitts, but I use the DIY Detail legacy sponge or the Big Black sponge by The Rag Company, and they do a great job on my Tesla. Those sponges are the ones recommended for rinseless washing. No swirls or scratches on the paintwork, but then I ceramic-coated the paintwork and PP f'ed the front end as soon as I bought the car.

I think this begs for a comparison between this method and the standard one. And I might add significantly its critical that the surface has been maintained and is in a hardened condition that will shed water. Most people are oblivious to this. Its becoming a lot more popular with ceramic extenders. I used bead it up. But there are others that are plenty good. And I might add dont wait until the car is filthy. A regular washing is mandatory. I do it every three weeks or so because I just dont drive that much any more now that I am retired. Soo. If you wash regularly, use a ceramic extender. do a good prewash and apply a good coating of high quality soap with a sprayer and then use the stardard two bucket system, I really dont think you are going to see a difference. I also use a high quality pro air blower and this leaves an absolute mirror finish if there was one before. Just my two cents.

The 2-3-6 buckets are only useful for one that does not have a pressure washer. Other than that is a method that must be discarded since when the constant dipping will end up making the water homogeneous with dirt and transferable between the 2 buckets. Any dip of the mit will cause a current making the trap useless since it can not open and close to prevent that. Whilst the soap bucket does not have as much foam. There is no logic for buckets since you can rinse with constant fresh water the hose or lowest setting of the PW the mitt or sponge and lay foam with the foam lance having both unaffected for cross contamination. Yes makes things slower however it way more contaminant free

That’s the way I always clean with one bucket. I have 12 different wash mitts don’t use them a second time put them in the machine afterwards and save for the next wash 2 bucket Method is just pointless

Last time i used any bucket to wash a car was back in the late 70's early 80's. It's complete bollox all this 1-2-3 bucket garbage.

8 sides out of a microfiber towel is ludicrous and is not good. Fold it into quarters and flip it ONCE, then toss it for another. You are getting the same coverage as the wash mitts. I've thought about going back to mitts but I just don’t see the point. If you are flipping your microfiber towels 8 times, you are washing your car with dirty water.

Tried that and still had issues with towels bunching up and unfolding, a nuisance it was. Couldnt imagine using all 8 sides of a towel and trying to remember..real annoying. Now using multiple wash pads.

Rediculous. Buy 7-12 wash mitts. Guys one will work fine. Rinse after each panel never had issues.

Definitely more efficient than my use of the power washer to clean the wash pad.🧽 24:14

As pressure washers are getting better and better (higher flow rates), there is no real need to worry about contamination. Your first rinse will get rid of 80% of the dirt. If you are really worried, use a foam blaster for the first rinse. Wash out the wash mit with fresh water out of a hose, then a bucket method. Use a seperate mit for the lower parts of the car (flip that one often and pull straight lines with it) Remember you have a lubricant on the paintwork, the chances of a swirl are extremely low. Foaming a car has also come a long way since the two-bucket method was invented. Now we have a thick layer of foam to protect the surface If you are washing a Lamborghini SVJ, just buy the 10 wash mitts 😂

Ph neutral foam or just a water rinse with a pressure washer will not get rid of 80 percent of dirt, a high ph pre wash will but not just a rinse..not even close. Why not take the safest method you can and a pre wash the car properly followed by a 1 bucket multiple mitt/towels/pads is so far the safest.

Rinse less is no bueno. If you have water, use it.

@@OutofSpecDetailing there is less drinking water to go around and it will only get more pricey. everywhere, since climate is warming. Yvan, Pan, Eddie (and others) would disagree with you...since they are more accomplished, i see them as bigger authorities on this subject than you...
