I’am the owner of PPF studio in Australia and wanted to thank you for the video. I have to agree that PPF is not for everyone, I always mention to my customers this wont solve all your problems. In my opinion PPF is worth the money as long as you use best brands like Suntek or XPEL. Installation process is a key - edge wrapped, do not overstretch and use patterns. A lot of people don’t understand PPF installation is basically a handcraft and many of detailers expend their services without thinking how difficult it is to make it right and that’s what destroying our industry. I found educating people about the whole idea make them coming back with other vehicles. In addition detailers sell ceramic coating as a paint protection which everyone knows it does not, expect UV.

If you do PPF you should still Ceramic Coating on top of it

Interesting that it is a hard paint, I have just heard nightmare stories on working on Teslas super soft paint, from detailers.

Guys I would encourage both of you to do more research on BMW prior to posting these videos.. BMW has had phone as key with a share option with authority levels for years.. ( with Apple Watch integration) BMW has also rated higher in customer satisfaction and reliability compared to Tesla! Look it up before you comment… Tesla was last. In addition, BMW allows you to have video and still image access inside and on the vehicle similar to Tesla. Quite honestly, If you’re comparing technology, Overall all performance, build quality, Interior and exterior color options individual builds etc… The fact that you said you can track the model S and not the i5 is astonishing.. Just ensure you have researched and spent more than just a few days with a car before offering up an opinion that will be taken as fact. There is no comparison!

I wanted to purchase the 21 battery operated version but was considering waiting for the tool only if the batteries from the 15 fit. So once upon a time, someone said hey we should paint metal to make it last longer and look better. Then some time passed and someone said hey we should put some clear paint over the color paint so the paint will last longer and look better. Now we reach recent days, and someone says hey we should put some extra clear film over the clear paint on the color paint to make the shine last longer. So my question is, why not just put thicker clear on so repairs can be done to paint more frequently without risk of needing to repaint?

Do you use snow foam specifically, or just any prewash foam is good?

My issue with PPF is that it costs about the same as paint. I could just have a front end respray for the same cost as PPF. If you have a new car on lease and are worried about penalties at the end of the lease, they're probably less than the cost of the PPF.

Ppf does it's job.... not as catchy title. Also, I did a few cars and stopped, means you have close to 0 experience with ppf.

Every time ppf is removed, there its almost completely yellow from sun damage. Im surprised nobody brings this up. This must distort the original paint colour with a yellow tint.

I think they skip the mk4 and it will be mkv. It has same gears as hlr, but carbon brush motor and old style backing plate. Btw the old backing plates wont fit for hlr's, so i hope kamikaze or something will make balanced 5" bp for 21.

All you have to do is wait for lease returns, get one with 5 to 10 K miles on it and you will save 15 to 20 K making it more reasonable to buy one as I am planning to do.

on a recent Dodge Ram that I did a maintenance wash on Carpro Descale did almost absolutely zero on restoring the hydrophobics… But diy detail water spot remover did an amazing job. I have lost some of my faith on what car pro descale actually can do.. Keep up the great work!

This is the exact method I’ve been using for years. First introduce by Garry Dean. It’s not only safer but actually *faster* than having to rinse mitts. And yes, using the chenille wash mitts is MUCH easier and easier to remember to use than MF towels. I actually avg about 8 Wash Mitts (front and back) for an entire car. Only other thing I would add is 1) foam prewash, 2) Rinse, 3) Foam again for lubrication 4) do NOT rise, but instead, start your hand wash mitts with one bucket method above. Lastly, I would recommend, keep track of which mitts hits the dirtier parts of your car (lower fenders, lower doors, bumpers) bc those mitts should be hand rinse or pressure rinsed before throwing in washer with your other mitts.

Coleton😀 I know that out of spec has or had Hyundai ionic 5, which is what I have. Two questions for you, I bought a foam canon, it a simoniz unit garden hose only, worked great, however my water here is quite hard ( a lot of calcium in it , leaves water spots ) can I just use adams waterless wash to remove the water spots or do you have a better system? Second question how do I clean the heads up display without ruining it. Thanks for all the great info on your site. For your information I live in Oliver British Columbia Canada. Tesla website says "use denatured alcohol to remove tar spots and stubborn grease stains, then immediately wash the area with water and a mild, non-detergent soap to remove the alcohol."

Great video man! I use exactly the same method in France since 6 months! It works great for me and saves a lot of time. Funfact, i only use 7 microfibers from the Ragcompany the soft 500’s. 1 towel for 4 sites not 8. It works perfect for me. Big respect for you and your work! Top! 👍😉

Model Y user with full PPF on the entire car. The PPF is by far the best investment I’ve made on my Tesla. This far it has saved me from getting damaged doors from other people hitting it when parking way too close to my car. Also it has saved my front from getting damage from all the stone chips from the road when behind a semi. But foremost the car is so much easier to clean, it’s like your car has a constant coat of wax on it where it just washes off so much easier. Also one of the biggest advantages is that when I wash my car I really don’t think about if my sponge is clean from dirt and whatnot so that I wont scratch the paint, I just wash and use pretty much anything I find. No harm done ever. That said, is it perfect? No, not every corner is perfectly made and not every edge is clean. But I have a white car so every little thing shows up. It’s all about who installed it at the end of the day.

Tbh after i rinse off my car with bh touchless its already so damn clean. Then i use 1 mitt for the top,1 for the back, 1 for the hood, 1 for the glass around, 1 for the right, 1 for the left side, and 1 for below the lower body crease. Total of 7 mitts. I feel like this is enough. They never go back in either and when i rinse them out there usually isn’t much filth.

I love ceramic coatings. However, a downfall is that you waste the majority of your shampoo when washing it. Roughly 90% of it went straight to the floor.

My 2023 ultra red Tesla X is perfect in every way no body gaps paint is flawless. I would not have accepted the black S plaid with that many issues. My friend has a 2023 S Plaid with absolutely no issues with body or paint. Again it's perplexing as to why the owner accepted the black S Plaid in that poor condition.
