My grt grand parents moved to Lemon City (Miami) in 1891. They would drive the horse and buggy down and dirt trail later named Biscayne Blvd to Coconut Grove to visit relatives at their 7 acre house located at what is now Monty Trainers. The property started at the beach and extended to Tiger Tale street. Later on, they bought the estate, raised my Dad there and he raised me there. Biscayne Blvd chopped the property in half in 1896 when Miami was incorporated. In 1843, my g, g, g, g, grandparents (originally from Alsace Lorraine) were ship wrecked on a Florida Reef and were taken by lighter boats to Key West. We don’t know where they were headed but they stayed in Key West and their houses are still there and were rebuilt on the PBS show “This Old House”.
