It's hard to accept compliments when you don't believe them...

The "I will cut you" girl was the most amazing response. It wasn't really a threat. It was a cry for help. She really believes she doesn't deserve a compliment. This girl has been through some bad things in her life which has resulted in a false view of herself. Look at her again. She doesn't even know what she looks like! She's beautiful!

Sad that being told that you're beautiful makes most people uncomfortable. Love the people who owned their beauty. You're beautiful.

the self-hatred and doubt you see in some of these people after they're told they're beautiful is not only relatable but also incredibly sad

A lot of people have been saying that the girl at 1:41 is rude, and while how she reacted was rude, I feel bad for her because she reacted in a way where she felt like it was a joke on her. She believes that someone calling her beautiful is a joke, because maybe in the past no one’s ever thought she was beautiful and she has bad self esteem. There’s always a reason for these things.

I find this video heart breaking that you're able to clearly see that people don't see the beauty in themselves and are shocked that someone else can actually see them that way. Kindness cost us nothing and yet we find it difficult to give it away.

a lot of people are saying “well!!! Well it doesn’t mean anything if they’re saying it to everyone!” Or “you chose them intentionally”, and it kind of just shows their own suppressed feelings. Everyone shown is beautiful, and deserve to be told that.

It's crushing when you realize that so many of these kids have never been on the receiving end of a compliment their entire lives.

The girl at 1:44 is relatable. At my school people get dared to compliment others and it hurts. Fake compliments aren’t funny and they actually hurt. She probably thought it was a cruel joke or smth.

You can tell a lot of them don't feel that way and don't believe it. Being a teen is hard. I remember that feeling.

The girl who said "I'll cut you" is so committed to her tough girl persona, but you can see that's she's going to take that home with her. I hope it sinks in. All of them were unique. I especially loved the girl with the blue hair. This shows how you can be beautiful in an individual way. Love it.

People do look beautiful when they smile. Some people in the video didn’t believe they are beautiful and looked you could see that in their faces that is so sad.

These kids are so vulnerable. And we were all these kids one day. Be kind.

I feel bad for the lady who didn't accept being called "beautiful." It's safe to assume she isn't used to receiving kindness in such a genuine way; very likely she's been hurt by others to a point where she either doesn't think she's deserving of it or assume she's being tricked again or both. Unfortunately, a lot of people come from similar backgrounds. Despite that, it's always worth the effort to believe beauty in others even if they don't accept it in the moment. We don't know how her story ends, but we can believe she'll carry those words throughout her life, "I think you're beautiful." And the truth is, she's right.

I felt like the girl who said she would cut you has never been told she is beautiful. She was defensive and thought you were making fun of her. I don't think she has received a lot of love in her life. I hope this is only the beginning of the positivity to come her way and allow her to trust people.

I’ve done a bit of research on facial expressions and almost every one of these people showed an extremely genuine smile when they were told that. Then some thought about it for a sec and then were a bit uncomfortable lol but the initial raw reactions of happiness were real and were worth all the effort! 😊

I honestly feel quite bad for the girl who was rude to her. She probably had been hurt alot to be that defensive that she can't even believe her when she calls her beautiful, *she thinks it's a joke.* The world is quite harsh and I really hope she finally did realize that she is indeed very beautiful. And for alot of you out there, just know that you are all beautiful and you did a great job making it out through this world when many have given up. I hope you don't and move forward. Being kind is so under appreciated, and it does not cost you a thing...

Some don't believe it, others find it strange or embarrassing, some even don't care or respond aggressively. Others are excited as if they had never been told this in their lives. The wide range of reactions there is is incredible. I believe that each one reflects the life of the person individually and socially.

All of these kids are truly beautiful. It's so sad that they don't know. I remember the first time I was told I was beautiful: I was half leaning in a hospital bed as I just got better from a life-threatening disease. I thought that moment changed my life.

1:42 lowkey hurt my heart. I study human behavior and you can tell when she stutters "Of what?" she hides her face, suppresses a smile, and goes right into "tough badass mode" to deflect it. Even as she threatens the photographer, you can see her face lacks true aggression/there's just that look in her eyes that shows a suppression of longing/positive emotion (which everyone before her expresses easily). "Clearly you're being goofy" to me is her way of expressing disbelief that this was a genuine compliment. In my opinion, this is someone who has likely never been genuinely called "beautiful" before, and if she has it's usually been from people who have just wanted one thing out of her. Even at the very end of the exchange you can see her kind of linger for more reinforcement that, no, this isn't a joke.

So many lost and lonely kids, starved for affection... you can see it in their faces, hear it in their words. Our families are a wreck and our schools make everything much, much worse.

I love the fact that the girl who said she’d cut the woman recording if she kept calling her beautiful was kept in. The owner wasn’t ashamed of her for that, for she knew deep down that regardless of the girl’s seemingly impregnable walls she erected around herself, she is indeed truly beautiful.💜 No amount of shame will ever hide that fact.

My first reaction was maybe she's gay and felt exposed but most likely, she's never been told that she's beautiful or was told the opposite by an abusive family. She felt mocked because she's been taught that she's worthless. She IS beautiful and I wish her love.
