My mom told me I used to talk to my grandmother's ghost when I was little and I would say things about her that I wouldn't have known otherwise. I don't have any memory of it since I was, like, four, but it still sounded creepy.

Ghost: silky hair, which shampoo? Carol: wyaaaaaaa. 😭😭

One night it was just me and my mom at home. We were in the living room watching TV and suddenly we hear the entrance door open and someone go upstairs. We brush it off and assume it’s just my brother. A few moments later my mom was like go and tell him to come down and eat dinner. I keep calling him but there’s no answer. I go upstairs and see noone. Half an hour the entrance door opened again. It was my brother.

I have a story similar to swastis but there’s no unborn twin involved. There was an incident where I had been watching my little brother by myself, and he had gone to hide under my bed to try and scare me. I didn’t know he was under my bed waiting to scare me, so I was in our living room keeping busy. I looked up into our kitchen and I swear I had seen what looked like my brother just staring at the closed refrigerator. Same build, red hair, it looked just like my brother from behind. I looked away and looked back and he was gone. I didn’t look away for that long, but I heard footsteps going down our hall, so I started calling for my brother and he came out of my room and told me where he was. He made fun of me for swearing I had seen him in our kitchen. A couple years later it happened again in a completely different house. We were having a barbecue and everyone had been outside, so I know it couldn’t have been anyone living. I went inside to get my brother, and thought I saw him just standing in the living room, staring out the window. I told him dinner was ready, went downstairs, and was met by my brother, who had already gotten food. Turns out he hadn’t been inside, he had been playing down the street. Again, no one else was in the house so I can’t explain what I saw, or why if looked exactly like my brother from behind or how I’d seen an apparition of my brother in two different houses. What boggles my mind to this day is my brother had gone though a growth spurt between these two incidents, but each time the apparition was the same height, same build, same hair color, and everything as my brother. I know what my brother looks like from behind, and both times it looked exactly like him. I haven’t seen this apparition in a couple of years since that last incident and it still haunts and confuses me to this day.

I used to be called down the stairs by a man and a woman that weren’t my parents - they were dressed in old-timey clothes. When they would call my name, I would always shout back ‘yeah?’ or ‘what?’ My parents used to be so confused about what or who I was answering, and I just didn’t think to tell them. This happened regularly in my childhood. I finally told my mum about it and she 100% believes be as she’s quite spiritual, which is nice 😂

the weirdest thing thats happened to me was one night i was staying up past my bedtime and i was on my ipad and all of a sudden i saw my door handle turn and the door opened a little bit. so i said “hi dad” thinking it was my dad who came to check on me and i thought for sure he was gonna catch me on my ipad. but i heard nothing and so i went back on my ipad and didnt think much of it. so then the next day i asked my dad if he came and opened my door last night and he said no he never did. i was like ummm then who did😬 (its just me and my dad) i totally remember seeing my door handle move downward as if someone was opening my door. creepy

They probably had pictures hanging on the walls. She runs down the hall, hair gets caught on a picture frame, gets pulled, mystery solved.

Since the age of about three or four there's been a ghost girl that has followed my younger sister around from house to house. She doesn't do anything, usually just stands or sits nearby (on the stairs, at the foot of her bed, in the corner of her room, etc.) We didn't talk about it really, but when friends who were at our house for sleepovers started confessing that they saw something creepy and it was this little girl in an old fashioned dress always near Shelby at night, we started realizing that the girl was following specifically my sister everywhere we moved. Some friends even said that the little girl appeared if my sister slept over at their house. My sister's now 26, and she doesn't want us to tell her boyfriend she's living with about the ghost because it'll probably give him a heart attack. My mom wasn't pregnant with twins when she had my sister, as far as she knows.

When I was around 8, my parents and I were sitting on the bed. They were facing the wall, I was facing the door. The door was slightly ajar. I didn't really get what they were talking about, but they seemed excited. Then I saw a greenish hand extend and close the door. I thought it was my brother. But then I realised that my brother had gone to college. Then I thought it was the maid. But then I remembered she had quit unpexpectedly last week. It was just the three of us.

After my grandmother died, when my brother was 3 he ran out of his room screaming “nanny’s here!”. Apparently he was talking to her and she told him she was coming to visit.

Swasti's story freaked me out and gave me goosebumps. I have my own ghost stories from childhood and thought I was desensitized to these things, but I was wrong.

My mom also believed that our old unit was haunted because of the interactions we had beneath or on the stairwell. She would see a woman in white walking past it or around the bottom level while everyone was asleep (upstairs) and she stayed up cleaning downstairs. Or I would often sleepwalk down the stairwell and go into a small closet nearby where she often caught me giggling/talking with 'someone' until she opened the closet and woke me up to lead me back up to my room. Don't remember any of this but the creepy feeling of being watched at night while living there. That part of town was also rumoured to be really haunted so...

My aunt told me that when I was about 3 or 4 years old, she saw me talking to myself in an empty room. After observing me, it looked like I was having a conversation with someone or something. When she asked me who I was talking to after the fact, I told her I was talking to a really white and bright person. My aunt then said I was most probably speaking with an angel. Not all encounters have to be scary I guess.

One night in the summer of 2015 when I was 10 I was looking outside my living room window, which is huge. It was around 1 am in the morning, and I was bored. So I just looked outside when all of a sudden a black, shadow-like figure came out of the shadows and started walking down the sidewalk across the street from my house. It walked like a WW2 Nazi soldier. It eventually just walked into the shadows again and never came out the other side or went into any houses. It freaked me out so I told my parents, they said i was just dreaming. I was wide awake. I had not fallen asleep at all up to that point. I know what I saw. I don't know if it was just someone walking down the street or not, but I haven't seen it since.

I was hoping there wouldn't be any pictures or anything to "help" me imagine it. But as soon as it went to explaining the eyes... I'm just gonna leave😰

Thank you both for sharing your stories. I love hearing different tales of true life ghost encounters. I have many from the house I grew up in. My best friend saw a man walking into the kitchen once when she slept over... but there was no man in the house (my step-dad was not home). I hadn't told her the house was haunted, so she was upset. She still jokes that I tricked her into sleeping in a haunted house! :)

A few days ago when I was brushing my teeth's in the bathroom upstairs, (I had the bathroom door wide open), suddenly the door slammed shut. I got a jump scare and just stood there for a few minutes. Oh, and nobody was upstairs except for me. This is not the only time I've experienced something paranormal. A few years ago when I came home from school, I went into the bathroom (downstairs).I was alone at home. Soon I heard something take my keys that hung on a spike on the wall, and opened the front door. I quickly ran out from the bathroom and saw my keys swinging by itself on the spike. Then I felt something touch my leg. It felt like a fluffy tail, but my cat was outside. It could have been my other cats spirit, Mästis that tried to cuddle with me. Another time when I was sitting at a table upstairs in our house, I had my phone laying on top of a book. Suddenly I noticed that my phone started moving SLOWLY to the right. Then it fell off the book. I can tell you that the house I live in, is over 400 years old. It's actually one of the oldest houses left in our city. :|

my last house was so spooky that guests would either complain about seeing apparitions in the bathrooms or feeling strange auras in the hallway and things in my room would be moved around ... the creepiest had to be occasional voices o.o

Funny, I have a similar story to Carol's brother. I'm about 6 in my apartment. Mom went to our neighbours for a minute and I'm watching TV. The dining room is directly behind me, and I saw a reflection of someone who I thought was my mother walking through the dining room into the kitchen (there's no exit). I started towards the kitchen and remember asking her something (can't remember what) and was shocked when there was no one in there. She came back a cpl mins later. I remember being really confused. Not scared, just puzzled. I don't believe in ghosts.

I’ve had one ghost encounter in my life. I saw someone throw a toy at my sons foot. The door way/wall was blocking everything except for the shoulder down, so I saw the arm throw the toy, and my son picked it up. I figured it was my sister, but I went in the room and no one was there. My sister was sleeping on a different floor level. I freaked out and my dad thought there was an intruder and went to grab his gun but I knew it wasn’t a physical person because they disappeared. I was so scared for the next few days.

There was 1 day i woke up and was getting ready to go to school so i went to the living room and saw my father went in to the bathroom for a shower so i waited in the living room then my mom suddenly ask me why aren't i going to the bathroom and i saw my father come out from his bedroom. I never saw and heard any footsteps so i asked them. Both of them said that my father never went out of his room or went to the bathroom during that time. This was like 6 or 7 years ago and im still shook

When I was younger (about 7), I was sitting on my father's lap whilst he and his buddies were drinking outside our house (but still behind the fence that separated our property). My father was far from being a lightweight so he was still very sharp with his surroundings at that point (and also because i get upset when he drinks too much so he paces himself while im around). The house opposite of ours was unoccupied and people have lived on and off there for years. Previous occupants claimed that it was haunted. So there I was sitting on my dad's lap as they were drinking when I flew across from his lap to the abandoned house. And by fly, I mean from his lap, I was rapidly pulled by the collar of my shirt way over to the opposite house. My dad and his buddies panicked the moment I was midair. They ran over to catch me (while one of my dad's friends called my mom who was inside the house). When they entered the haunted house, I was standing there crying while there was a woman in white standing behind me holding my shoulders. And then, she disappeared. My parents ran to me and took me home. The next day, they called a priest and did a whole thing on the house and on the other houses that were abandoned in our neighborhood. I vaguely remembered the experience but I didn't see the woman, just my parents and their friends stopping when they saw her behind me and then running towards me when she left. Because I live in a very superstitious country, we didn't know if it was a ghost, a demon, or some sort of mythical creature like a manananggal or something. But because of that experience, I never came close to that place ever again, even after it was rebuilt and occupied and blessed. The last occupants just moved out a few months ago. (btw i still live in the same house lol why my parents never moved out will stay unsolved)

I visited a historical home in my town. I snapped a photo, and you can see the outline of a woman in a white dress standing alongside a child in it. They’re mostly see-through, but it’s on a staircase and nothing is obstructing the view. Spookiest thing.

I have had a lot of paranormal experiences,probably because I am such a strong believer and I always refer to 2 particular instances. 1) I was in my house in Mexico it was the night of Dia de Los Muertos I was in bed getting ready to sleep when all of a sudden I hear footsteps,loud ones, I turn to my mom and ask her if she hears that too and she hits me with "yeah its probably just your relatives coming and saying goodbye" 2) I came home from school one day and the whole entire day I was feeling super sad I just couldnt shake it off,my mom gets home and I just rush to her and start crying,my sister gets home and she just starts bawling too. The next day we get a phone call telling us our grandma died.

When I was younger , like 8 years old, I remember my dad coming home from work and me going over to say hi to him because I hadn’t seen him all day and so as I was coming back into my room I saw a little boy running into my parents room which was right next to mine,I thought it was my little brother who had just ran into their so I went to go check on him and once I got to the room I didn’t see anybody so I thought he was hiding and checked all over the room and then I realized he wasn’t their so I ran to the living room where my parents were and saw my little brother sitting on the couch

Ever since I was little I have delt with the paranormal, and I mean like talking to “angels” and seeing a woman in my parents room. As I get older it kinda goes away. Well we went antique shopping and there was a necklace that was giving me this weird vibe, and I really felt like I had to buy it. Ever since I have owned it I hear a banging on my wall that will make my walls shake and I hear a girl call for me almost every night. Even when I took a trip the lights in the hotel bathroom went out. I came out and asked if anyone had accidentally turned it off or if the power went out in our room and everyone swore that it was normal in our room.

I've seen a ghost, a shadow figure, and a wendigo, so I believe in the supernatural.

My ghost story Rented house in Michigan for 3 months. Friend and me watching TV in the morning around 10am. We hear the screen door open and a knock on the door. We look at each other and I say "I'll get it". I open the door and no one is there. I look left and right to see if he stepped off to the side and still nothing. That's when I notice the fresh blanket of snow on the ground with no footprints. I close the door and my friend ask "who is it" I say come look. He gets up looks outside and acts confused. I said "you heard knocking right?" He says "yes". i point outside at the fresh snow and said to him nobody has knocked on the door cause there's no footprints. We were both confused and could not believe what just happened

I've had many experiences like this, particularly in the house I'm currently living in with my family. Most of the time, it just felt like spirits doing their own thing, not really bothered by me (or even wanting to be noticed). But there were some things that felt quite negative. For example, I've heard family members when they weren't here (even heard my great-grandmother call from the bedroom after she'd already passed). I've heard three (very loud!) knocks on my bedroom door when only my grandmother and aunty were home with me. My grandmother was on the phone, and my aunty was putting something in the rubbish bin outside when I'd opened the door. My aunty and I have also heard movement in the house and things moving around the kitchen sink and in the cutlery drawer when alone at night. One night, I was by myself in the house and I could hear movement and banging from my dad's bedroom. The noises began to move throughout the house. I could hear movement in the kitchen drawer and the sounds were getting more frequent and loud. I don't think I've ever been more terrified in my life. Just when the noises were getting close to my room, my grandmother arrived home and everything went silent again. That was during quite a dark period in my life and I was also experiencing episodes of sleep paralysis so there might have been something feeding off the negativity in the house. But I'm in a better place now and I haven't noticed much activity in a couple of years. There's still something here though and I feel like it's trying to cause a rift in my family. I just pray and try not to feed into any negative impulses...

The same thing happened to my brother as what happened to Carol's brothers. My older brother was watching TV and through the reflection of the tv, he saw my other brother go to the kitchen and when he went to go talk to him, he wasn't there and hadn't been home yet. It was a really crazy experience for my brother.

So when I was growing up my dad use to pull on my hair and I hated it. Well fast forward to when I’m 17 my dad passed away in an accident. I use to play the sims 3 in the laundry room which was in the basement but below my parents room sometimes my dads dresser drawer handle would rattle when no one was home but the scariest thing is my hair use to get played with in that room I like to thinking it was my dad.

My house is probably haunted but in a good way. My parents knew the guy who died in our house and said he was a good guy. When me and my sister were little he liked to turn on the lights in the middle of the night. And a recently we had a roommate who would always come inside (he lived in a trailer) at night and one night he said he saw him standing at the top of the stairs. I also used to be afraid of going in our garage but never knew why until my parents told me that it was where he spent most of his time when he was alive and I am guessing that is him telling me to leave him alone or something. Even to this day when I go in I always say out loud why I am there

Let me just quickly cover the mirror on my dresser behind me before I watch ghost videos alone at 11pm, like a Smart Person.

MY STORY: so one night when i was 12 (i'm 16 now and still remember this vividly) i was home with my 2 sisters and my dad. i was in my basement sitting on top of the tv stand cause i was charging my ipad in the outlet right next to it. on the floor beneath where my feet were, was 2 puzzles that me and my sisters were trying to complete. my dad was upstairs cooking dinner and i remember i kept calling his name to ask when dinner would be ready. i have a big basement so from the room i was in, you cant see the stairs. then i heard someone click on the light thats at the top of my staircase (yes i heard the click, it wasnt one of those stick light switches its one of those flat ones and it makes a little click when you turn the ligths on or off). after the click of the ligths i heard someone coming down the stairs and it sounded like i dads footsteps so i yelled "dad?" but he was still in the kitchen and yelled "what emma i'm still making dinner" and my sisters were still in their rooms so i was like??????? THEN im still sitting on the tv stand and im on my ipad and from the corner of my eye i swear i saw a puzzle piece from the floor move. so i bent down and got closer to it cause i thought maybe there was a thread from my clothes that got attached to it and when i moved it moved too?? idk but i bent down to get cloer to it and like 10 inches away from my face it moved again. it wasnt like a little twitch or something it like slid 2 inches. then i got super freaked out and i started crying so i ran upstairs to tell my dad and then i went to my room to call my friend and tell her everything. i still think my house is haunted to this day but anyway thats my ghost story lol
