The oil control valves are solenoid operated valves that control oil flow to the vvt. it would be B+ and PCM pulse width modulating ground.

When I first started watching you, I didn’t think you were a “real” mechanic. You’re too pretty, and too clean. You also have nails. All telltale signs of an actor. I’ve been watching the Celica build. You’re legit. You’re tackling wiring like a specialty tech. Wiring scares the shit out of most mechanics. Tips hat.

If I was a millionaire I’d hire you to restore research and rescue first generation Toyota. The care and attention to detail that you take is incredible.

OMG!! I am so happy about the Merch! I skipped the last giveaway due to the shipping/customer service issues. I hope this works out because I can't do that again the way it was.

For the color items on the whiteboard, I recommend using the Ultra Fine Point "rainbow" set of Sharpies. I know, "permanent", but, if you first prep the board with the official Expo cleaner, Sharpie can be cleaned-up by writing over it with a dry-erase marker and wiping with a rag/towellete soaked in more Expo cleaner juice. Plus, the fine points will let you make finer detail drawings. I pumice you'll dig it.

Sarah, in the help/wiring section in the pclink software has an example of a pinout for the 2uz for the sensors. wiring information>varible valve timing (vvt) solenoids>specific vvt applications>toyota 2uzfe vvt wiring. Happy nerding.

Whenever you get into wiring you definitely shine and disply your in-depth knowledge of imports. I'm definitely rusty when it comes to reading wiring diagrams. Been longer than I care to admit since I read those on a regular basis.

I finally figured out what type of gaming channel this is! It's a live action Car Mechanic Simulator and occasionally a live action driving game! Such a cool video gaming channel idea, do it all as live action, amazing!!!

I love how in-depth you get with the explanations for how everything works in the electrical system. I feel smarter after watching your wiring videos. And I love how you make it all OEM like it would have come from factory if they made such a thing. Or better even.

I had a 1980 SR5 pickup like the one in the scrap yard. Mine was white with the silver graphics package. What a fun little truck that was!

The plunger is the "valve" part of the Oil Control Valve OCV. The computer supplies + power and - ground to activate the electromagnet which pulls the plunger over to allow oil to flow through it to change the cam timing. It may be PWM to control how much it opens.

The level of detail you’re putting into this car is beyond belief. It’s awesome!

hello sarah. be careful with the oil control valves. as a technician the ones i work with use a PWM ( pulse width modulation) signal to turn the solenoid on and off at a frequency so if its a low frequency its closed for longer, high is open. works as a percentage. a by doing this it regulates the amount of oil pressure the camshaft phasers will get. if you applied just straight power you would be running it at only 0 and 100 percent. i really enjoy the build, its coming along nicely. that celice fuse box is a great touch. maybe get the 162 celica fusebox if you cant find the plugs.

Just a fabricobblering idea. With your BBQ shop neighbor nearing a move, you may want to consider buying a 3D printer. You can use an open-source CAD program like KiCAD to model parts like that fuse-box holder then produce a file in STEP or STL format you can render with the 3D modeler to test the fit. If the fit works and you need the part in steel rather than plastic, I assume the same CAD file could be given to someone with the type of tool your BBQ firm has to make a "real" one. The CAD programs take a *bit* of time to learn (couple of days) but that might save you some round trips if your next external fabricator isn't next door and requires a drive or a FedEx round trip.

You should spam your merch. The 80's Vibes T-Shirt I bought is legitimately one of my favorites. Don't feel bad about mentioning it, especially in the non-aggressive tone that you do. Drop a subtle hint when something new hits your shop.

The problem with the short rubber hoses is that they have a habit of coming loose when the engine is twisting under load, and the short braided hoses just love to break. Remember to leave enough flexing capability in the connection for when you start giving it the spinach & beans. 😜 BTW Thanks so much for the merch. I can't wait to try them on. Cheers

It’s amazing you can find parts for a ‘74 Toyota. I have Chevys from ‘06 and ‘09, and many of their parts are no longer made or available. I learned my lesson for future purchases.

A tip for Cardboard Design, use a calender instead of cardboard. You get 12 sheets of thick glossy paper with a blank back (unless it's double printed)

Hey Sarah, hi from Australia. I just wanted to urge you to look at something a little different for your rigid water hose on the fire wall with rubber hoses each end to the engine. In essence that will have the engine also tied to the fire wall with two bits of rubber hose. They will constantly flex and move as the engine moves, but the rigid pipe on the fire wall wont. That could cause early wear on the rubber hoses. It might not, I don't know, but I just thought I would raise it just in case. Love your work Sarah you are awesome.
