Would you consider working on a 1999 Mercury Cougar? Stay cool and pretty. I enjoy your videos and sense of humor.

SPAL makes a shrouded dual 11" cooling fan set up that is MUCH lower profile than your MR2 fans, fwiw.

Yeah, we all need a break sometimes! But NOT from anything that you are doing! You could read repair instructions for half an hour and it wouldn't be boring! Keep on doing what and how you do it! It's entertaining as the sun is hot!

My vote is to put the A/C compressor in the trunk and run it off the driveshaft. If anyone can do that you can !

3000 lbs? My full sized 67 Camaro I've pumped up to 400hp weighs 3100 lbs. Progress! I bought my CaMARO IN 1976 OUT OF A JUNKYARD FOR $250.

Sarah use an AC condenser and fan from a Porsche 993. I sits in the left front wheel well and has the capacity for your car. I used this on an early 911 and it worked great . Just a thought. You must have AC in AZ...

So there’s no question that this car is not gonna have air-conditioning. Fair. I have two thoughts nonetheless: First, is there a way to beef up the vent system such that it could compensate a little bit for their not being any AC? Like running some kind of a tube where the AC would be to the bottom of the car? Or adapting the current venting system to have more volume? And maybe upgrading the vent fans so that you can get more volume of outside air? It’s not gonna help all the time, but it might help. Second, since you’re in Arizona, it might be worth looking into a period correct swamp cooler. I don’t know if they still have them in the 70s, but for like thirties to 50s they were cooling systems you could put on your window that would provide some kind of evaporative cooling. Finally, and this is not an idea that I would expect to be implemented, but is there a world where you could put one or more turbo intercooler radiators at the bottom of the car and an angle, and use those for an AC system?. I fully realize that’s not the only problem, that there’s no room for the compressor, I’m just curious if that could give you a different configuration that might work. for example you absolutely had to figure out a way to add air conditioning to this car. In which case, the compressor would have to be creatively located in a place where you don’t want it, and it probably would need an electric motor to drive it, it wouldn’t be able to be on the drive belt.

The tag & music on this episode tho! 🔥 🎵 Question... Is there ANY way the car can be cooled otherwise? 🐧🏎️

Do some research , a condenser on a refrigerator is underneath the unit so air flow is at a minimum. Why does it have to be in the grill area? Just asking

Your maths are correct and I have the sads because I remember the before times, when A/C was provided by rolled down windows, wing vents and speed.

Sarah, I love the Celica project (I had an 83 Celica with the 22R engine that I rebuilt), However I think 6 gauge wire is ridiculous overkill for cooling fans, I’m sure 12 gauge, as long as it’s copper and not aluminum, would’ve been enough.
@hotironaircraftshop21 годину тому
Does the A/C condenser HAVE to be located in the engine compartment?
@Ingineerix21 годину тому
FYI: Electrical Engineer here. Your rear mounted battery means some extra amount of voltage drop to the starter, so that will cause it to draw more amps. I think I'd measure the current then fuse for at least 50% more to account for cold days, low battery, etc.
@neubianx21 годину тому
BMW would figure out a way to get that AC radiator in.

You can use an electric fan off of Lincoln mark 8. That will give you enough cooling for your engine. That fan has a high and low setting

Yes the glorious Lexus V-8 engine note is addictive. But the hybrid would be nice to live with when you are stuck in LA traffic, or parking at Whole Foods, or sneaking out the back. Seeing as the convertible is V-8 only, the potential future unicorn value of the hybrid coupe may be a factor. Maybe.
