I'm 70 and share the same wish but it occurred to me the other day in watching the twenty-year old staff at JPL during the landing. Their generation has become so accustomed to robots doing such things, I think the innate desire or our and our previous generations to explore by having a human see and touch and feel is being replaced by "ahh, let's just send a robot. It's cheaper and no one can be hurt." I studied science because I wanted to be an astronaut but more young folks today want to be programmer and designers than "Star Travelers."

Mars is not suitable for a colonization. Major reasons are no atmosphere to speak of, low gravity wich will cause the settlers not being able to visit Earth. High radioactivity on the surface. Also the soil is toxic. Not really good conditions for a settlement.

@hansjorgkunde3772
@hansjorgkunde3772 3 роки тому
@@strdakx5504 well i don't say its impossible. We could settle Mars even with somewhat of a success, but its stupid to do so. The costs are astronomic and Earth still got plenty room. Beside colonizing Mars will not solve the overpopulation problem long term. You'd need to ferry 220.000 people a DAY there to just get rid of the population growth. Impossible and stupid. So any settler on Mars will most likely die, some sooner some later. That is the fate of early settlers. Children will never have the need to build robust bones, its only 1/3 of the gravitation on Earth. So they'll never be able to walk on Earth. Its a one way trip with no return, as even adults will adapt to the low gravity there. And yes i not only hope to find life there , its for me already proven, science just chose to ignore the results of the viking probes launched in the 70th's 3/5 tests for life were positive on both lander. There is also a seasonal Methane emission on Mars, probably microorganism. Lately they found out Earth based Cyanobacteria would be able to live on Mars.... Life finds a way and it is abundant in the Universe.

@@snakeace0 Yes the background radiation on mars is not lethal. About 22 mR a day. But that is still much higher radiation than on exclusion zones in Ukraine and Fukushima today for example. How the hell do they manage to get something the size of a motor car on a planet 220 million km,s away, That alone is truly amazing to me and then to send crystal clear images back. It really is hard to believe.

@@seanmcginnis850 if every planet is flat, and the sun orbits the earth (because the earth is constantly flying upwards to make us think its gravity holding us down, which is demonstrably false) like flat earthers say, then isnt there a Sun for every planet? and why can we not see the other stars? and how havent they collided and wiped out the entire solar system like we know stars do when they are in such close proximity to each other, being that they would have incredible gravitational attraction to each other due to their masses? i would love a flat earther to actually use a little thing called science.
