"It's no exaggeration to say that the greatest minds of the entire human race have made proposals for this grand final theory of everything," says theoretical physicist Michio Kaku.
This theory, also known as the God Equation, would unify all the basic concepts of physics into one. According to Kaku, the best, most "mathematically consistent" candidate so far is string theory, but there are objections.
"The biggest objection is you can't test it," Kaku explains, "but we're getting closer and closer."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MICHIO KAKU:
Dr. Michio Kaku is the co-founder of string field theory, and is one of the most widely recognized scientists in the world today. He has written 4 New York Times Best Sellers, is the science correspondent for CBS This Morning and has hosted numerous science specials for BBC-TV, the Discovery/Science Channel. His radio show broadcasts to 100 radio stations every week. Dr. Kaku holds the Henry Semat Chair and Professorship in theoretical physics at the City College of New York (CUNY), where he has taught for over 25 years. He has also been a visiting professor at the Institute for Advanced Study as well as New York University (NYU).

TRANSCRIPT:
MICHIO KAKU: What is the mind of God, that Albert Einstein chased after for 30 years of his life? Einstein wanted an equation that would unify gravity, electromagnetic force, and the two nuclear forces. He wanted unification of all four forces into one theory. The theory of everything, the God Equation.
My name is professor Michio Kaku. I'm a professor of theoretical physics at the City University of New York, and author of the recent book "The God Equation: The Quest for the Theory of Everything." Leonard Euler, one of the great mathematicians of human history, found one equation which summarized the fundamental constants of math. One plus e to the i pi equals zero. People call that the God Equation of Mathematics. Now of course the God Equation is useless as a practical application, but think now of a God Equation for physics. Physics is quite useful. When Newton worked out the mechanics of moving objects and gravity, he helped to lay the groundwork for the Industrial Revolution. And then Maxwell and Faraday united electricity and magnetism to give us the electromagnetic force. The electric revolution of dynamos, generators, and light bulbs. And now we have e equals mc-squared, which helped to pave the way for the nuclear force. Each time a force was unraveled, it changed human history. And now, we want to put the whole thing together into the God Equation, fulfilling Einstein's original dream.
The God Equation, just like the God Equation of Mathematics, should unify the basic concepts of physics into one equation. Now, what are these basic concepts? Relativity and the quantum theory. The problem is, the quantum theory does not unify well with general activity. See general activity of Einstein is based on smooth surfaces. The quantum theory is based on chopping things up into particles. That's the opposite of Einstein's philosophy of smooth curves representing space-time. That's why it's so difficult. It's no exaggeration to say that the greatest minds of the entire human race have made proposals for this grand final theory of everything. Each one was shown to be anomalous or divergent. So far, there's only one theory which has survived every challenge: string theory, which is what I do for a living. Now, what is string theory? From a distance, an electron looks like a dot. The neutrino is another dot. The quark is another dot. We have all these dot particles. How many dot particles? Hundreds of them. But, string theory says if you can peer into the heart of an electron, you will see that it's a rubber band. A tiny, tiny vibrating string, very similar to a guitar string. There's an infinite number of vibrations and that is why we have subatomic particles. The subatomic particles each correspond to a different set of vibrations of a rubber band. String theory allows you to rotate particles into each other turning electrons into neutrinos, neutrinos into quarks, and the theory remains the same. That is the symmetry of the string, and that's why it's so powerful. A simple idea that encapsulates the entire universe.

good video, tho i do object a little to the notion that only string theory remains standing, there are other theories, like membrane theory, that have the same status in regards to remaining standing as a theory. tho the principal is almost the same as string theory, it is different and has the same status (that it fits but cant be proven yet). so i dont really get why that isnt mentioned in the video, tho maybe i do understand it because kaku works on string theory himself, but he also knows that string theory isnt the only theory that still stands.

Dear Dr. Michio Kaku , A great video indeed, echoing the greatest wisdom of the scientific communities for whom the entire mankind are at present state of it's existence. With all due respect to you for your great efforts towards the contribution to achieve the TOE through "String Theory", the God's equation" and hence the mind of GOD, I have some humble questions to you as mentioned below. 1) I do understand that to the greatest scientists, the concept of "GOD" is entirely different from that of as perceived by the common people across the globe. Now, the moment you and your colleagues succeed in achieving the equation and pass through the scientific tests, definitely it will be a game changer to the concepts of entire physics and cosmology which with the passage of time and coupled with ultimate advancement of different scientific instruments and and it's relevant applications with the help of TOE, it will revolutionize all aspects of life of the entire mankind. 2) Having said in point no 1, it automatically means that everything in the universe/multiverse is predefined in all respects to the letter and spirit, as you have come to know the "MIND OF GOD". So, does it mean that TOE implies that the "GOD" in the context of the interpretation of scientific communities, is a super intelligent and conscious entity? 3) The above points automatically raise the question, what is the source of that entity? 4) You have given your answer in your video. My question is how absolutely pure "void" can generate any vibration leading to the manifestations of the universe/ multiverse? I do believe TOE through String Theory must address this issue. Please note that, here i am considering "Nothingness" as "Void" , as the former has some shorts of quantum fields and it's fluctuations (please correct me if i am wrong). 5) Now, the most important question which arise to my mind is, once we come to know the mind of "GOD", the scientists should be able to make some advanced experiment through which we can change the trajectory of mind of GOD so as to make it more precise for the benifit of the entire mankind as well as the universe/multiverse. Will it be possible? If so, what impact of the entire present setup of the universe/multiverse, you can foresee as of now? Your invaluable answers of the above queries are solicited and will be highly appreciated. Kind regards, Debasish Ghosh, From India.

Stay with me on this ... if a 4th dimensional being can move through time like a walk in a line, his age will be the energy he had left till his end (because time for him is irelevant). A 5th dimensional being will have energy (or mass) as his 5th dimension, so he can manipulate mass and energy at his will. If so uap visitations can be traced to a civilization that has grasped string theory bbn to its fullest potential and hence can effectively control the cosmos. What is a system? a system is simply a set of components that interact to accomplish some purpose. The term "System" means an organized relationship among functioning units or components. We can define a System as a combination of resources or functional units working together to accomplish a given task. The term "working together" in system definition is very important as all the components are interrelated and interdependent and cannot exist independently

A lead ball suspended on a strong chain from the ceiling of the laboratory can serve as a test body; at radius r=27,6 cm, ball mass is m=1т. According to the formula for the gravitational potential, the energy of quanta/photons of the field (photons are characterized by different parity and helicity, and it is not quite accurate to say that a photon has an integer spin equal to one) at a distance r from the center of gravity of the test body to the detector (practically on the surface of the ball) =66,3 keV. The variable is incomplete, therefore the equation has not yet be able to reach. Like a bucket trying to convey all the water in the sea at once.
@gravoc857
@gravoc857 2 роки тому
Yup. Not only is it incomplete, what we do have filled in could be wrong. Quantum advancement in the field is challenging Einstein’s General Relativity. One of those elements being challenged is gravity. Gravity might be gravitons. Or perhaps gravity isn’t even a force at all. The more we begin to understand about space and time dialation, the more we realize that gravity doesn’t need to be a force. Rather, gravity is simply the mean average between two or more zones of dialated time. This would cause the curvature we see. So to manipulate space is to manipulate time. To manipulate time is to manipulate space. Einstein seems to have been right in his assumption that spacetime exists together as one. This would fundamentally change the way we view time and gravity, should It ever be decided gravity is not truly a force. This has other potential consequences. Such as the speed of light could be the speed of time. Or that black holes might not actually condense to an infinitely small point. It would be possible that the curvature of spacetime gets so extreme, that time stops flowing at the center of a black hole. This would freeze gravity and prevent an infinite collapse in on itself. Meaning that at the center of a black hole, it could contain the most basic elementary particles, but frozen in space and frozen in time. Their energy existing both in a state of perpetual activity around a physically frozen form. This would explain why Hawking radiation works, as quantum fluctuations would still apply to objects inside black holes. A quantum energy spike would trigger the strong nuclear force to form a virtual particle to compensate for that quantum fluctuation. With s very small chance the particle would be created outside the black hole. All of this would suggest too that perhaps the present is being created actively. That there’s some sort of universal mechanism responsible for all of this happening. It seems to be processed at the speed of light, or in this case the speed of time. This would mean the future doesn’t exist yet within this universe, and the past truly exists. So much to wrap the mind around. I can’t wait for more scientific discovery.
@sonofode902

Maybe when we find the theory of everything it will have uncertainties. Uncertainties are a part of everything and whenever we answer a question there opens up many other questions and this is why the pursuit of knowledge is endless and always the amount of information increases overtime. This makes the science so fascinating.

That's why they call it the "theory" of everything. If we knew it worked it would be the "law' of everything.

A “theory of uncertainties” sounds a lot like quantum theory 😂
