On February 17th 2018, Unbeaten Super Middleweight Caleb Plant took the ring against Rogelio Medina in a 12-round title eliminator bout live from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The fight was broadcasted life on FOX as part of the Premier Boxing Champions Series.
Plant wasted no time in showcasing his style early on, landing several flush jabs in the opening few rounds. “It was a tough fight tonight against a tough competitor who puts everything on the line”, said Plant. “I’m happy we got the job done tonight.” As Plant consistently landed his powerful jab by the third round, blood began to pour out of the nose of Medina.
Plant was able to mix in lead left hooks and straight right hands to continue to damage Medina throughout the action in the middle rounds. Plant utilized his jab to back up Medina, but Medina showcased the determination of a veteran as he withstood each shot.
Medina turned up his defensive prowess by the sixth round, but Plant’s consistency outweighed his determination. Plant utilized the final rounds to keep Medina at a distance, while accurately landing a nice percentage of his punches.
Improving his record to 17-0, 10 KOs, Plant defeats Medina by way of Unanimous Decision in their IBF Eliminator bout. “I want (IBF 168-pound champion) Caleb Truax,” said Plant. “He was calling me out when I was 12-0. I’m on the doorstep knocking now, let’s see if he still wants it. He can either ship me the IBF belt to my doorstep, or I’ll come take it off his waist.”
