I am a recovering addict sober since 4/11/22. Been arrested,in jail, probation. You name it I’ve most likely done it. When I was 19 I was especially young & dumb was doing any & every drug hanging around the trap houses giving rides to dealer for $ etc. well one night I got a call from one of the dealers who said he needed me to hurry up come get him and he was gonna give me 500$ that was a lot so I knew it was probably a big deal. I was right around the corner got there in like 5 mins. Little did I know him & his friend I had just picked up had literally just robbed the gas station at g*n point. He opened my trunk closer the door and was yelling at me to “drive now!” As I’m backing up I’m screaming back “wtf did you just throw in my trunk?!” Literally as I’m screaming this not even a minute later a squad of about 10 sheriffs roll up on my car yelling on the microphone to “get the f*ck out of the vehicle with your hands up!” I had NO IDEA wtf was going on! This was before weed was legal and I had a bunch on me that me & my friend were shoving in our underwear as they have their guns pointed at us & start ripping us one by one out of the car (there were 4 of us. The 2 guys I picked up from the robbery then it was me & my best friend). They handcuff us throw us all into separate cop cars. K9s come out & they are literally ripping thru my car tearing shit up seats were pulled out and everything no lie. I see one of the cops pull a g*n out of my car & I can’t even tell you the fear I had when I saw that because it was my car I already knew what was to be assumed. I had JUST gotten out of jail not even 3 weeks ago & was going to court and they were putting together the discovery packet for my case & then THIS happened! Anyways we were all there for HOURS being interrogated they reviewed video surveillance. I didn’t wanna go to PRISON not jail but also wasn’t trying to “rat” on them for fear of my life if they were to send people after me. Anyways they reviewed all the video surveillance from the corner store robbery they knew I didn’t drop them off they watched them rob them at pew pew point on video and leave on foot I picked them up at an apartment complex across the street. They knew the pew pew wasn’t mine & thankfully they admitted that when I told them about the bus I had hidden they didn’t even care bc of everything else going on they took that & didn’t do anything to me for it. They were trying to pin me as the “get away driver” and I would b facing the same charges as them unless I did “rat” & write a statement on them along with a bunch of other stuff. It was the scariest night of my life up until that point (I’m now 35). I did what I had to do, I woulda never picked them up if I had ANY idea what they did no matter how much $ I woulda been paid. I learned ALOT of lessons from that night, our Father God & my guardian angels were watching over me & i only walked away with a couple minor charges but it made the other case i had going on a whole lot worse. I did some jail time I was on probation for 3 years they both went to prison and served 5 whole years were sentenced to 7 each. It’s a night I will NEVER forget. My daughter is young, but when she is old enough I fully plan on telling her things I’ve done & the importance of understanding the people she makes “friends” with, that their actions WILL effect her & I pray that with my honesty she will learn from all of my MANY mistakes (I made a lot more even after that unfortunately) & all of that time, tears, & lessons wouldn’t just be for me but she will take them seriously & learn from them also. Any young kids reading this heed my warning… protect yourself, protect your freedom you never realize how much it means until you loose it. Trap houses, gangs, pew pews, dr*gs aren’t cool they won’t get you anywhere except wayyyy behind, in debt, and terrible places doing things you never could imagine. I’m now a sober single mom I go to church every Sunday & im thankful to God for my lessons and giving me my 52846 chance at life because I’m FINALLY doing it right this time. God bless.

Cops can't just walk around town having their dog sniff random cars (a checkpoint can though), but the moment you are detained they can call a dog up. Even if them needed an excuse to call for the dog, "they seemed nervous" is plenty sufficient. A dog is not a search.

Does anyone see the problem with this cop? It's the same problem with every cop. If they have no probable cause to search, they will bring out the dogs which are trained to "alert" when the cops want them to. As a former heroin addict, I've been searched so many times. And the dog "alerted" every single time. But every single time, there was nothing illegal in my car and that was proven when I was let go every time. They harassed me constantly due to how much the GCPD hated my drug dealer bf and his family. I even got "pulled over" walking 1/8 of a mile from my house to the convenience mart on my street. No, I wasn't drinking, no i wasn't high but they pulled me over and checked my pockets and made me shake out my bra. There are so many dirty things that I've seen police do and it makes me sick that they find ways around the law like using the dogs when you can't do a legal search, like saying they smelled pot or heard a scream as probable cause to invade your home and privacy. We don't really have any rights. And those sworn to protect and serve us are the only ones we really need protection from. Its scary that all you have to do is rub a cop the wrong way, or date his ex, or go out with his daughter or challenge his authority or hurt his wittle ego and they can literally ruin your entire life and the lives of anyone that knowc you. Just for shits and giggles. My former stepdad is a retired state cop, 3 relatives of mine are cops, my bestie has 2 cops in her family so its safe to say I know how their minds work. Did you know they did a scientific study to compare ppl based on their careers. Do you know which career group police share the most in common with? Career criminals. I swear. No lie. And I so believe it. After a man becomes a cop their ego inflates massively. Their heart becomes calloused because they're so used to hearing and seeing people suffering, they stop caring for people. Even worse they get so tired of the drama they start resenting the citizens instead of having empathy for them and trying to help them. They get so used to ppl kissing their ass (because nobody wants to get on the bad side of the police) that their arrogance grows considerably. So arrogant that it's actually repulsive. Power changes people for the worst. I would never want that job. They go around chest puffed out, wielding their badge, thinking everyone loves them because everyone's always so smiley and friendly but all those people actually dislike them greatly. They can't say that though out of fear of retaliation by the cops.

I'm almost always Pro-Blue, but I REALLY don't like that the Officer straight up said, "I have a right to search cause the dog alerted, but I don't know this Dog's alert cause he's not mine.". That's a serious red flag.

And this is why I love living in a gated community!! No one who isnt supposed to be there knocking on your door!! Had a young girl knocking on my door trying to sell magazine subscriptions one day and I flat out told her someone will call the cops but it wouldnt be me. Sure enough a few minutes later the cops showed up and escorted her out of the neighborhood.

For the genius narrator, dog alerts are wrong 40% of the time and/or the dog is enticed into alerting by the handler. Drug dogs should be made illegal for traffic stops as officers have every incentive to cause a dog to falsely alert and, if the dog alerts and nothing is found, nothing happens to the officer or the dog. Once a dog has 5 false alerts, it alerting should not construed as probable cause.

The issue with K9 alerts is that it's SUPER easy for a cop to train the dog to give false positives. I've had my car searched 4 times because a k9 alerted even tho no one in my home uses narcotics and each time nothing is ever found. Eventually I realized they signal the dog to give a false positive if they think the dog won't alert by himself

I asked a K9 officer what the signs were when he gets a hit on drugs. He said the dog will sit or scratch. The K9 walked around my vehicle and didn’t sit or scratch but he barked when he got near my back hatch. Cop said it was a hit and consent to search. He would’ve said anything to have a reason to search. Had them call a supervisor after the failed search, he told me that the K9 officer knows the dog and wouldn’t lie about a hit. I explained everything and even supervisor said that he shouldn’t of searched the vehicle due to 2 barks from the dog. I think even he knew the original officer was reaching for anything.

My wife shakes whenever shes nervous because she has anxiety. Shes has had her car searched twice and they of course dont find anything but when she explains she has anxiety they threatened to take her for dui if she has taken her anxiety medication. Pisses me off and i support the police but the way they have targeted her previously irritated me.
