@@kukri31 Not to go into to much detail... I was recruited from LinkedIn randomly based on my profile. I had zero experience in the industry I work in except I did have some outside sales experience. The organization I work for is a 6B dollar company and their is 650+ locations across the US. Long story short, I did some interviews and took a very sophisticated personality test and they hired me. The catch is, they give you a store that is not profitable and I was certainly going to have to relocate anywhere in the US. Here's the good part, my individual location has a stock value and I can own up to 30% of it. The majority of people succeed and become VERY wealthy but there's that nagging thought in my head " What if I'm not good enough?"

Afghanistan was never able to fully govern itself, especially with the entirety of the male populace preferring to being underneath a regime better suited to field their views. Women never get a look in. They gave people there those most potential freedom possible, before it inevitably went to shit. I find it nuts how the Taliban have the power they do. They are a poorly run group of sheep herders, yet, somehow managed to take over an entire nation with little/no resistance and many of the men trained to stop that, just defeated anyway as, bar my prior point, they would rather be under a regime that protects their false views to people, women and rules. Why would you want a westernized freedom of liberation when you're being promised exponential power, control and a pick of whatever women you like.

My grandfather was in Vietnam as a green beret, he got wounded a few times. I always kinda wonder about his experiences in the Vietnam war. He passed when I was 15. He only told me a bit about it. Can you relate to the experiences of the gwot veterans or is there a disconnect.

@@oldboyxanliquidrage I can relate but nobody appreciates what you did as much as you and the men you were with. When I got home for the first time in over 2 years my Mom said "Vietman isn't a war. WWII was a war. We had rationing". I can relate but I wasn't there with them so I can't fully appreciate what they went through. Biggest threat seemed to be IED explosives. In some cases they did building to building searches. That's different.

I feel for this man and admire his courage but I honestly doubt the US military actions in the Middle-East kept people safe or free back in the US. Afghanistan now is back in Taliban's hands unfortunately and the Middle-East is a mess. It's not the fault of people that served to protect their countries and bring democracy, so I don't mean this in a disrespectful way to veterans, I just don't think these wars made US safer, or stopped Islamic terrorism, even if soldiers did their best under horrible circumstances. I look at the world today, specifically the Middle-East, and the region appears way more unstable than it was back in 2001 when the war against terrorism started. As US left Afghanistan capitulating under the Talibans I felt disgusted, and can only imagine how veterans must have felt. I am afraid Islamic terrorism is not defeated (the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan possibly fuelled further hate and instability), and violence and threats abound, more so than 20 years ago.
