We started writing Monument after playing around with a software that can stretch short bits of music into billions of years of sound. It made total sense to me that Max wanted to explore this floating feeling and mediation in the video...

Hey, I just want to say good job, and that the black and white structure reminded me of a book written by Dean Koontz, Brother Odd, where there is a monster that constantly changes shape, beautiful and scary at the same time, the monster turns out to be an expression of vanity, arrogance and insanity. good music, good voice and good video, thx for your excelent work over the years.

I was 34 when I had cardio myopathy. It means my heart is enlarged and the muscles on my left side of heart is damaged. I am now 52 and refuse to let this disease beat me. **If I may provide a deeper state of comprehension for your losses so it aids your negative state of being for your overall better understanding. These things as painful as they all were, were for a reason, For a deeper reason for you to see things in a clearer light. Pain has a way of weeding out other distractions and if all these things have happened back to back then this is for a extreme better outcome. The Devine or super conscious, higher self whatever you view as a god force knows you at your greatest extents and your lowest lows. * it sends challenges into our lives disguised as problem for us to ultimately learn some fundamental lesson from so we can with this lesson grow beyond what we see currently see ourselves as for the benefit of all who can understand that the extreme of these challenges, your being VERY extreme are sent that way because it knows your full potential of what your strengths can under go on a personal level. In other words, if your personal strength was poor you would receive a small amount of discomfort. But if the opposite then you receive a great deal of pain. **You are stronger then you can EVER consciously comprehend. You need to see this. I know I have stated a lot here but know this.. *** Pain is a part of life, but suffering “IS” an option! - Tony Robbins

I'm dying of renal cell carcinoma. I'm currently on Opdivo, and it shows promise, but like the other chemos (votrient and afinitor) that I've been on, it too will stop being effective one day. I cried uncontrollably when I heard this song. This is a death song. An end of life song. I hope that it's playing in my head in my final moment. I want my two sons to know that they are my monument. Make a space For my body. Dig a hole. Push the sides apart. This is what I'm controlling. It's a moat The inside that I carve. This will be my monument This will be a beacon when I'm gone Gone, gone When I'm gone Gone, gone When I'm gone So that when the moment comes, I can say I did it all with love Love, love All with love Love, love All with love Make a cast Of my body. Pull back out, So that I can see. Let go of How you knew me. Let go of What I used to be. I will let this monument Represent a moment of my life Life, life Of my life Life, life Of my life I will let this monument Represent a moment of my life Life, life Of my life Life, life Of my life Make a cast Of my body. I know when you first listen this song you don't feel that it's right (coz you haven't listened to something like this ever before) but then after one or two repeats, this is kinda crazy that this song goes deep into your soul subconsciously. You are stuck with this song forever and then you start to realize that what meaning it has. Beautiful depiction of life. No matter what are you doing whether sleeping or staying awake doing your job this monument 🏛 keeps playing in your head and soul. I know this is something I can't explain but this is happening to me ever since I discovered it. I want this song to be, "when I'm gone" song for me.

Pull back out, So that I can see. Let go of How you knew me. Let go of What I used to be ❤

I have my doubts... This song is wonderful, ethereal, transcendental... But tell me... How many songs does the group have in that same vibe? It doesn't even look like royksopp. I'll change my mind if you show me more songs in this environmental, ethereal, mystical, spiritual footprint... If all the songs were like that, they would be quite a group... This song and this clip is a philosophical.. work of art... the rest... it's just fun dancing songs

@@Diego_Curcino Why on earth would you want any artist to have all songs in their opus in a same manner? That is the beauty of Royksopp in particular, no two albums are the same. Melody A.M. f.ex. in one of the best electronic music albums ever made. Here's a few other gems to discover: eple, in space, here she comes again, if you want me, what else is there... I mean, do your homework man, wtf?

I am in absolute awe of this. The subtelty, depth, incantation-like quality... The creative and unexpected elements (her mouthing of words unheard, and the unexpected, smooth, dreamy saxophone)... What I love most is the feeling that it left so much unsaid.

It's amazing what one can do with PLC synthesisers, Korgi Organs and Beat Box Electro Drum banks. All this gear was mothballed back in the late 80's. What goes around eventually comes around, age has excluded me from acceptance but I always love to hear artist's keeping the dream alive. Poetry, the rhythm of the body and sweet sounds are what it's all about. It's timeless. Cheers.

OMG I felt that. The truth, I believe, is you could not have truly empathized with him on his trip to the unknown, because you'll only know it when you make it yourself. But if he felt your love before passing, you gave him all you could, and to him that would have been enough.Love was the only and best thing you could give, and you gave it. You did enough, honey.😗😗💓💓❤

It seems weird that such a trippy video is not even about drugs, meditation or some religious experience. Robyn described this song as being "about death", "defining who you are" and "a physical sensation of an emotion," inspired by the Juliana Cerqueira Leite clay sculptures she saw at London's Saatchi Gallery. The song's music clip was directed by Robyn's frequent collaborator Max Vitali. The director explained that the video is about, "exploring the space around you and finding your own space in it all."
