Never see Rafa play so calmly and not celebrate points like how he used to in other matches. He simply put those emotions aside and played like enough is enough. I'm not going to loose one more final here

He said to the press (to the spanish journalists that asked him) he didn't interact that much with the crowd because he didn't have the strength anymore, that he was very tired. He also said in spanish that he didn't celebrate as he's done it in other occasions because of the same, he had no more power in him. Congrats, Rafa!

@@waterfire339 I figured that much. I kept remarking how incredibly calm he was but I figured it was bcoz he didn't want to expend too much energy on court and needed to channel the enough to focus on each point!

Nadal, djoko, and federer are my all time favourite tennis players, and im sure that were not gonna witness again a battle between 3 iconic players getting the best of each others on court, but man this warrior rafa, what a beast, a fighter, warrior, say whatever u want about him, but his mind set has to be learned in schools and universities, what a champ 🔥

You are Simply unbelievable. We love you so much. ❤
Congratulations Rafa! You are the embodiment of the indomitable spirit of humans in sport. True champion. Nobody deserves more than you. The most amazing part of your journey is that none of today's top players, and I mean none, would have a chance to beat you when you were their age. Rafa, you are a legend. We are some of us very lucky to be alive in this era and and witness you achieve these accolades. Truly an inspiration to humankind!

It's amazing to know that it's 3:00 a.m. in the morning, and Rafa's (and also Medvedev) doing the presser. He's as professional as it gets. Congratulations! on # 21 GSs and # 2 AOs. He's my GOAT, btw.

Rafa inspired me and make me feel hopeful to keep on fighting years of personal tragedies. What a legend!

Rafa keeps saying he did not really prepare enough to win this tournament. But his preparation was his whole career up to this point. Yes, he lacked some more immediate preparation he would like to have. But the decades of prior preparation were sufficient for the day.

That is a really interesting reflection.

When you won the 20th, sweeping clean your biggest rival - that was the pinnacle! I promised myself that I am not going to expect anything else from you; not going to stress over your matches; but... Look where it took us last night: to say that I was literally pulling my hair out, and my wife couldn't watch the match after the second set is such an understatement of the emotional rollercoaster we went through - not in my entire life I would be able to comprehend what you went through last night, and what your parents and wife went through. In the end, both my wife and I was in tears, on the floor, emotionally drained, at 2am in the morning. Why? Cox we knew how much you deserve this victory! I hope you would have time for a great family life, just as the champion you are. Thank you!

It was just an amazing match. Seeing Rafa,, two months after having COVID to fight back the way he did was something I will never forget. Bravo Rafa!

My bp was going up and down with every single point.. I was crying when rafa lost his service game at 5..4 in final set...but in next game he broke again... I always follwed his matches especially in grandslams because he was the only person who deafted roger in his prime on his fav courts.. Not once many times... Rafa is best tennis player in history... Because of many reasons.. He always fighted with injuries too otherwise he could have won 25 slams till now... Love him so much

Epic match! Rafa is absolutely incredible in every way. I’m so happy for him. But at the same time, I just listened to Daniil’s post match interview and it hurt my heart. He’s a wonderful guy too and I admire his fortitude in withstanding the onslaught of negativity and often nastiness from the spectators. It was shameful. It’s one thing to root for your favorite but quite another to vociferously root against his opponent by cheering his mistakes and booing him at every turn. I admire his composure because he played an outstanding match despite the vitriol of the crowd. Rafa will always be my fave, but Daniil just earned himself another BIG fan.

I'm on the east coast in the US. I set my alarm to get up and watch. After Rafa lost the tiebreak , I gave up and went to bed. Rafa didn't give up....incredible....

To win this at his age coming off injuries down two sets The Big Three can raise their level when it seems impossible
