True that.. AO Final (when still not fully fit after returning from long injury (from late last year to early this year)), US Open champion, Wimbledon semis.. enough said.. He's good on all surfaces (except indoors maybe) but is godlike on clay.. that's why he SEEMS to be good only on clay

The most important thing about Rafa Nadal is not the way he plays, the technique he uses or how he hits the ball, the most important thing about Rafa is his spirit! Because it's something that is much bigger than tennis, it's a message for the people who're struggling and an attitude towards life! He is an icon of resistance, a true warrior without sword but with racquet that inspires a lot of people in their normal lifes, and that's what matters over the sport and the player, the icon he is, and that goes beyond any borders. He is an international icon of effort and fight. Proud to have seen you through these years long, and proud to live in your era. They all very talented, but tennis is a solo sport, mentally you have to be on top every single time or you go down. Medvedev certainly has shown his spirit this year, especially the last few weeks of course, but Thiem definitely shown it at the French open. He just seem more comfortable at clay. Tsitsipas is a bit younger, maybe it will come, he is already top 10 but hasn't shown this strength at the majors. Zverev actually did the opposite, he disappears at the big stages. Based on the last few weeks it's easy to point out Medvedev, I think so too he just seem more mature mentally than the others.

I share the same thought, Daniil right now looks like the toughest competitors for anyone including top 3. His mental strength, it is almost like he doesn’t have any emotion or fear on court, his second serve consistently shows that. Match point or break point, he plays the same...very unusual. I thought Stefanos was tough, but no, this guy will beat him mentally. they are similar age now, Thiem a little older. Daniil and Stefanos will be the next rivalry for 1 and 2. I love Thiem and hope he can come in between and steal the thunder. But it does look tough for him.

I think it's unfair to bundle Thiem with Zverev and Tsitsipas, if Nadal wasn't playing Thiem could have easily had at least two French Open titles, he is pretty strong mentally and he showed that several times on the grand slam matches, but against Nadal on clay on a French Open final there just isn't much you can do.

I am gonna burst your bubble.. Medvedev is nice. But has had his inappropriate moments.. Flipping the audience.. Bad behavior with rye staff. Look it up.

Me as well. I'm a Rafa fan but Meddy won my permanent respect for how he played this USO final and his closing remarks. Takes guts and class to do that.

@@abhishiktachakraborty451 People change. He hired someone to make his attitude correct and now he is a humble person. Maybe you should look this up :)

i am a federer fan and i am so happy for rafa.He is definitely the biggest fighter in tennis, i hope he can play for many more years and without injuries.
@sabineb.56164 роки тому
Pierre Maldonado, if you are really a true Federer-fan, than I have applaud your generous attitude. Each member of the Big Three is unique in his own inimitable way. As a Rafafan I would be more than happy if the GOAT race ends with a three-way tie. This would be poetic justice because all of them fully deserve the GOAT title.

Everybody thinks Nadal will have to wait until the French Open to match Federer, but I think he will match his record at the Australian Open, and then officially become GOAT when he wins the Roland Garros. VAMOS RAFA!!!!!!!!!!!

This 19 was so huge for Rafa. in a way I feel his tears were because he probably never thought he'd make it this far, especially with all the injuries. It must be a truly overwhelming feeling to have experienced so much setback and yet, still, find yourself a slam away from 20. A dream being lived. Vamos Rafa!

Hands down the most moving closing ceremony I've ever seen. What an amazing athlete Rafa is. Unique in all the world.
@yulbaharani83064 роки тому
I cried, screamed, cheered, prayed (?), I did everything in the last 3 games of the 4th set and during the whole 5th set. When the match ended, I couldn't even talk lol, I was so emotionally exhausted, and my body was extremely exhausted as well, the nerve got its toll on my body. I am so proud, and so happy for Rafa, happy beyond words. I've been a fan for the last 15 years, followed tennis because my dad likes tennis and is a fan of Roger's, that brought me to be a hardcore fan as well. That match was, idk, I'm running out of adjectives, but one thing for sure, it's emotionally draining. I'm quite proud of myself that I never once did hoping for Daniil to make double fault or bad unforced errors, even though in the last set I was a bit like, whatever, just whatever as long as Rafa win lol, but I couldn't help but love how the crowd cheered for him as well, that he acknowledged his mistakes and people acknowledged that he's genuine. And Rafa, ahhh, what a lovely human being. Sorry I made an essay in a yt comment section, I'm not even sure the sentences make sense or not haha, I was and still am so emotional.
