Redcat just came out with a aluminum servo horn The screws going down to much is just using shims or shorter screws

Hi Nathan - I'm curious what servo problem you are talking about? This RTR hasn't had any servo issues.

The kit is really a smart way to go if you already have some of the components to make it work well. I have seen many folks already using Yokomo parts to upgrade it...

Hi Andy! That ESC and motor setup are just fine. I run the XR10 all the time. Works like a champ. The only limitation that motor has for you is there isn't motor timing adjustment on the can. Typically, for RC drifting, the motor and ESC are the last thing to worry about upgrading.

Thanks Geoff! I believe you are right - some of it is certainly that. Some folks really struggle to support a brand like Redcat trying to get into this market.

I have now had this exact car at multiple events. Been able to hang with every car on track. I saw you say this before, so I am curious what the difference in our experiences are. I believe you - but wonder why there is the difference.

What track are you at? I ran my RTR stock with cut knuckles at the first Super D round at DARC and had no problem running with full comp builds that cost thousands of dollars.

That budget gives you A LOT of options. What other components do you have, and where/how do you drive? Example: what ESC and gyro do you have? Do you want to compete, or do you just have fun in the garage?

But if you are willing to spend $200-$300, then you get into the range of the Flysky Noble (ukposts.info/have/v-deo/i36Vjo58e5Bh0WQ.html), the Radiolink RC8X (ukposts.info/have/v-deo/f39oZ594kJieuXk.html), and even a Futaba 4PM. All three are GREAT radios.

1) ability to tune to your liking 2) driving feel The gyros I prefer (ReveD Revox, Futaba GYD470, Onsiki Daruma) all have a smooth feel and ability to tune to my driving style. It is hard to explain, but once you have tried a higher end gyro, it becomes evident.

@@RoadsideRC how can one feel different from another, In what way? And aside from gyro gain. What other adjustments are there?

I run a radiolink receiver and I find that one easy to use. Never found myself wanting more. Just not sure if I'm selling myself short. But I don't wanna waste money on something I don't need or won't improve the overall outcome. Also I don't run on a restricted course. Maybe that's where the difference lies??

I’m late to this but for anyone else just now watching and asking this question, it’s the feel of it either being smooth as butter or twitchy and not precise. Cheaper Gyros can be hesitant or jerky feeling because it’s slower thinking which causes it to over correct by the time it makes its move. It can be driven just fine but you can feel it like it’s trying to figure out where it should be at all times during a skid. You want it to be smooth and its reaction times to be so fast you don’t even notice it. Also like said above you want to be able to adjust the gains and set it to your preferred driving style. What works for me might not feel that great to you. Some even in this video didn’t like the Gyro when others did like it or didn’t seem to mind it at all. I use them on all of my rc vehicles except my crawlers. Driving one of my bashers through the field I can tell a huge difference between a stick crappy Gyro I have compared to even my DumboRc Gyro Rx’s. It will jerk the steering back and forth in the feild at top speed because it’s trying to figure out what is straight and can’t keep up with the speeds that the truck’s position is shifting. Also these Gyros that come in RTR vehicles are usually adjusted pretty sensitively due to them being marketing new drivers mostly. For someone learning you really might not need that and it can turn you off to the sport overall especially if you don’t know about this stuff. I haven’t driven an RDS but I want one badly. I want a kit so I can build it with my own electronics. With drifting you definitely don’t wanna skimp out on electronics especially the servo and gyro/rx/tx. It needs to be instantaneous the inputs you make. You can get away with a lower grade one in a basher but not something like a street car, drag car, or drift car. Hope this helps 😊

@@erraddict Maybe!!! That might work. This carpet is rc racing specific carpet. Rather expensive. But - you can get away with many other varieties of carpet.

Was thinking just fact he's really good at setup would make a subpar car better than my mst ..my mst drift better out of the box than now . I did move the motor .plus human nature to a point you want support co. That supports you . But I've seen some bought needed to be tuned out of the box too. I had just purchased a mst 2.0 should've got the 2.5 ..I do like redcat as a company ..i.may of gotten the rds , surprised they didn't come under with price to gain sales 100 bucks cheaper people wouldn't question which to buy

@@shredcraftrc You should!!! Did you see some of the other folks who got these as pre-release? They had ZERO drift experience....and ZERO credibility. Just reading specs off the side of the danged box! 7 videos in 2 weeks is just the start when a new product like this hits the market. There is a lot of benefit in getting multiple videos out quickly about a new product. I learned that years ago with the Losi Super Rock Rey. Don't take the number of videos to be a warning flag - take the content within them.

Honestly - I have a stack of bodies, so whatever body comes on the car really doesn't matter.

who runs a stock body anyway? isnt the whole point of "scale", making it your own?

In RWD drifting, most folks upgrade to an open diff, do not see locked as better. What chassis do you normally run, and what surface - that would cause you to prefer a locked diff?
