RE4 also had a weird brown filter, as the remake is a completely new game they never included this and it looks great. I suspect they’ll do the same with 5

RE5 NEEDS A REMAKE

This is a top 5 game for me. Resident Evil been missing that co-op for a while now and we need to relive that again..re5/re6 mercenaries was top tier.

I'll never forget how excited my step daughter Faith was when she noticed ressie 5 was co-op. When she noticed she came running to me asking to play and that's when she showed me. A memory well worth remembering even if her mother hates my guts after our divorce

It wasn’t an 2010’s banger if the game didn’t have the piss filter. In all seriousness I don’t mind either way if they take it out or not it’s my favorite and if just be happy to play it

They can add filter change and people can choose what to play with and everyone happy

I loved Resident Evil 5 when it first released and honestly the filter does give it depth to it, especially during the beginning chapter in the village with all the heat haze which makes it perfect since it’s in Africa…so I think Capcom should keep it but give it more control.

I suppose that the RE5 Remake could go with a style similar to the other remakes, but add filter options like the original RE5 did?

Well they could make it an option for the filter because in the remakes of re2 and re4 you could activate different filters

The yellow filter is something that was always bugged me, like why they adding it? For instance in MGS4 its 10 times better looking game without it

That filter is often used in movies set in countries like Mexico, South America, Africa, etc to imply who the bad guys are, to put it "lightly", or, to give a 3rd world country appearance since the yellow/orange filter gives the impression of corruption, etc, whatever the movie is aiming to imply while America or the good guys are always shown in bright tones/filters. There are some articles discussing the use of that filter, and RE5 came out around the time it was being used in movies. So, product of its time. They managed to create a new atmospheric tone/look with RE4 remake. And it's not like Africa is being constantly choked by a dust cloud hovering over it, which is what it always reminded me of when I played. I'm sure RE5R will have a filter adjustment for those that want it.

Wait, didn't they remove the filter in the HD remastered version of Re5 when it was rereleased for the Ps4 and Xbox One?

Maybe it's just me, but I once found out a way to remove the filter, or at least the saturation of that filter-I wanted to turn up the game volume once, and since I already had all the game settings at max, I obviously wanted to increase the computer's volume, but since pressing the Windows key didn't work, I pressed ctrl + alt + delete and turned on the task manager, I went back to the game and the filter was turned off, the colors may not be that vivid, but the filter gave more... blue? or at least different vibe, maybe it desaturated the filter Sometimes it worked the first time, sometimes I had to repeat it, but it also worked well This happened to me by accident, I don't know if this is a common tactic, only on PC of course

It looks weird sometimes (like pink in those early areas) because that mod only removes one or some layers of filter. Other filter mods remove every single layer (some even break effects like the sort of inverted color filter when your partner enters dying status, the red blurry effect when you're dying yourself, or the rocket launcher scope texture in the final cutscene), which also removes the contrast layer and as a result, you don't even need the lantern in the mines because you can see everything for example. I once experimented with removing all filters but keeping the contrast layer intact, a friend told me it looked a bit too dark in some modded maps but even at 50% it looked way better than the mod most people use IMO (but I'm biased because I like to leave it alone). Also, the game uses different filter presets throughout the game. If you wanna see the game with no filters without mods, just go to experimental facility in the mercenaries. And lastly, 120fps is natively supported and is the default setting (also breaks the game a bit the further away from 30fps you go), the mod setting is there to allow you to go beyond the 120fps hard cap that the "unlocked" setting offers. Funnily enough, the built-in performance benchmark is the only part of the vanilla game that ignores the fps limit, unless you enable V-Sync

For me I like the both filters,it would be cool to be able to use the tool on the rest of the og re games as well

Ehh, I don't think the yellow filter removal looks too bad, but it does feel a bit over-saturated. I haven't really looked too deep into this mod, but it'd be neat if there were some type of slider or way to adjust the saturation, because I'd personally bump it down a few notches or ten. I never really minded the original colors and thought that they worked well for the blistering-hot outdoor segments. I'm all about that FOV fix though.

I think the modern Studios could add the "piss filter" where it fits really good and leave it out where it doesn't

They could add a Day and Night cycle, have different enemies appear depending on time of day. Or just more nighttime areas in general. 🤔

When it comes about the filter think something in between would be better. Also I would like to see the remake being more consistent with old RE games by having item boxes and having the areas inter connected like an actual open map with side objectives to do some backtracking. RE5 should be more than an arcade shooter.

Without the "pee" filter, i can see how good the visual quality actually is, unhindered by the filter. Without it, we can spot things more easily because of the wider color range, as things are not concealed in the same color gradient (looks more "alive"). But yes, removing it makes some colors to be overly vibrant (Fortnight look) - because it was meant to be filtered. Clear, but less artistic. Also without the filter, scenes in darker area look washed out, because the filter aslo gives HDR effect.

That looks so awesome I can't wait for this game to come out in stores

I liked RE: 5 and it has its own vibe, that said remake wise it needs the biggest overhaul atmospherically, ascetically and functionally

I loved resident evil 5 so so much, probably due to it being one of my first ever online co op experiences, yes it weren’t very scary, but as a game itself it was so fun to play and I replayed it over and over and over again to unlock infinite ammo for everything in the game and get all the trophies, super fun game

We needthis to be a co-op game once more and make it scary as can be. We need darkness with only you and your partners flashlights. They got to give us that feeling of afraid to move forward like in RE 7 or RE 1 IMO The music in the Spencer Mansion paralyzed me with so much fair I was too scared to move forward lol I loved it!

I definitely hope it like re4 remake to where it more dark. It’ll give the horror aspect that everyone wanted along with the amazing actions! :)

games, tv shows and movies in this era had a weird obsession with "grit". A product needed to be "gritty". We have RE4 to blame for some of that :D

Honestly Chris and Sheva Alomar action duo is one the greatest and one of the most underrated duo in history of gaming world. Which is obviously sad ... I wish this game is remade with the most insane graphics and shooter mechanics. one more thing :) i bought my first laptop in 2013 and this was the first game of my life which i played on pc/laptop :))

Can't wait to see the visuals on this one... with RE 7, RE Village, and RE4 Remake being some of the best VR games ever made... I'm excited to see how they handle doing the VR mode with RE5 being co-op, being able to play with a friend in VR is gonna be insane. Unless they choose not to do it.. but after doing RE7, RE8, RE4R.. I feel like most likely they're going to do it for RE5 remake.

The things I want to see in RE5 are a fixed color palette, less buff Chris/no boulder punching, RE4-type horror and elements. I know people keep complaining, but I really think that if these things are done then we could have a really great version of RE5!

I hate the ink like filter in that game. Besides that the only plus points I would give are Sheva, Albert Wesker, and the village missions. Re 5 kinda reminds me what if it didn’t take place in Africa but rather a more mad max like post apocalyptic Las Vegas.

The filter actually fits perfectly cause there's alot of diseases in that Continent, you get bite by a local bug there you Dead!

I just hope capcom has the cooyans to keep the setting without bowing to the negative journalism around this game.. maybe make it more exploratory and less streamlined.

I feel like Re5 has thousands of problems and I’m really looking forward for the remake. Recently I’ve been replaying the whole saga for my partner that they’re totally new to the franchise and they said (and I have to agree) that Re5 is not visually appealing and has a very bad writing and the scenarios are really confusing and that it was a straight up copy of Re4, and how most battles were so bland and Wesker's fight was the most boring thing on the game. And I mentioned that they’re new to the franchise because most fans blind themselves with nostalgia and don’t realize how certain Re games are just bad or not perfect, an example I like a lot is the Leon’s Campaign in Re6 and Helena’s character, how after playing it with my partner I had to realize that is one of the worst campaigns in the game. Me and my partner are really really excited for the Remake of Re5 because it could’ve been better in everything

RE5 already has unlock-able filters as a feature in the game. In the remake just make it so the yellow filter is a unlock for beating the game and then everyone can be happy.

It looks SO MUCH better with the tool. I really hope that if there is a remake, it won't be as washed out and dull as the original because it's kinda boring to the eye.

This game was amazing and the co-op was one of the best. I’ve played the story so many times with multiple friends and also with random strangers from Japan/Europe.

I think Fallout 3 started The whole green filter theme. And My guess is no they will not keep it If re5r is ever going to happen. Re4r didn't have brown filter either like in the original

I enjoyed RE5 a lot when it came out. I played it entirely and unlocked everything. But if we’re comparing what game needs a remake first, it’s code Veronica and it’s not even close. CV has incredible potential to be one of the best RE games of all time if a remake turns the game darker, more serious and expands on the super cool and unique atmosphere of the original. Remake CV first please. Do what’s right.

Worst part was ai partner and aiming system, shooting and not moving around. With those fixed, 👌

I’ll never understand this, without the filter it not only does it lose style and look bland, it makes the textures show their age a lot more. And shadows are not that sharp irl, real shadows have a softness to the edges, how is that an improvement?

Re5 had potential but with how either Sheva carried your weight or how you carried her weight and how you bought weapons along the way was a no-no. The enemies were literally the same too. So the graphics don’t matter (except for the enemies fading into dust) just how they are used. I also did not like the assault rifles and how they were just getting “better”. The game was divided into chapters making it what I hated about Resident Evil 4 and the Paper Mario series. Although Resident Evil 4 remake also divided the game into chapters it made up for it greatly so you could still enjoy the game. I think RE5R will need a long time to redevelop. We need to realize that Capcom was unable to make good games at the time due to the Great Recession so it makes sense why RE5 was bad. I think it is up to Capcom wether they can develop RE5R or not same with RE6R. I don’t think they can so let’s give them some space. If you are a Capcom staff and you are reading this, don’t make RE5R unless you can. I think the RE Games that need redevelopment that you can handle are 0 the Revelations series, 3 7 and Village.

Like resident evil 5 always was scary. You go in with no real stopping power the game stops you. Turn off the infinity ammo. No upgrades that game on the hardest difficulty. Is the fear in a the daytime in a nutshell but then we get to week two of play and the infinite ammo everything turned off fear

Sure the tool is just a good way to bring the game up to a better stander videos cards now a days can handle more... back in 09 it had it maxed out and i wanted more out of it. a lot of games had the pee i didnt care for it but it didnt bother me as well. anyways i dont see that coming back the pee that is........... yeah.....

My thing is why have the old filter when we could have a sun shine Africa or we can have the first villager sequence. Atmosphere which is a bit darker holding. The bows that need there reworks looks next spot is. The game is in. Day time atmosphere but look at lost on nightmare the filter shined. There while.resident evil 5 was so bright that it was to easy to see so what about a darker over tone what about a cloudy Africa. Is my mind. Withbthe filter there as a test up front into a menacing new tribal village area that feels darker what id resident evil 5 wasn't ever the action it that the actions was feeling scary that idea is a test.

Is this the resident evil with the African zombies? I remember playing this game maybe around 2011 with no care in the world. I didn't know that there was a tiny backlash about this game until like 2013. If there was a tiny backlash about African zombies back in the day. I can't imagine the backlash this game would get now. I'm black, and I would shoot a zombie no matter the race. I was young and didn't pay attention to the plot. I doubt the game had anything to do with race. I bet a virus simply got released in Africa some how.

I actually think since it's in Africa to make the BSAA soldiers and a lot of the environment feel like a desert more like giving Chris an American Desert Uniform or having more desert look the the game

If they can get rid of the filler and keep the horror going the same way 4 remake did then it can work. The game needs to focus more on the horror and keep the action balanced. The problem is the wokesters that will complain about Africans being used as enemies in the game, basically forgetting the part that vulnerable civilizations are more prone to exploitation by corporations like Tricell.

I think this game will have a different problem. We know how it turned out with Disney fairy tales. I'm not entirely sure if a game where you kill black people comes out these days. That is the real problem RE5 Remake is going to have.

the major issue with an RE5 remake is people have a habit of making smth out of nothing. you dont have a problem when its white people being turned into monsters but god forbid we touch anyone of color with that sort of treatment. as humans we should just come to realise that its the involvement aspect that is really what matters. i liked fighting the tribes people because it felt real it felt like the people had been taken advantage of and it made me want to stop Wesker more than i already wanted to. people in 2008 were saying that re5 is racist that u have a white main character saving the day and a white villian who has all the power but the truth is that Chris's story was inevitably going to get to killing wesker its a big part of his plot, so when chris hears wesker may be involved with a Bio attack in africa he investigates. you cant say its racist that theres awhite protagonist because technically the story mostly revolves around Sheva wanting to restore her country back from BOW attacks. chris's involvement is purely personal in the belief his Partner (Jill) was killed by wesker he doesnt have the same reasons for wanting to stop wesker as sheva and that doesnt make it racist. a re5 remake would be awesome especially with the tribes people because the horror aspect of being hunted in the dark murky muddy waters of the african lands would 100% make me and a friends day all that more exciting. i hope we can push past the needless segregation and just accept that its a story being told for peoples enjoyment and nothing more

RE 5 was quite enjoyable for me, though I understand why some fans hate, I myself find it too action-packed akin to an action movie and there wasn't enough horror element. Something that was sadly brought over to RE 6
