This is my review of the Adafruit Powerboost 1000c. This is the best all-around li-poly charger that I've found for my projects. I boosts your power to 1000mA, and it outputs 5v, even when given 3.3. It has a range of valid input voltages, but will safely and quickly charge your battery. DO NOT USE THIS WITH TINY BATTERIES! Your battery should be at MINIMUM 1000 mAh in order to use this...otherwise it would have adverse effects on your battery. And possibly your health if you're nearby. It bridges power with your project and the charger, so you can have a single microUSB port for both charging and power, so it makes a great power supply part for smaller projects, too. LEDs make sure you know the status of the board and your battery. If you use Apple products, it does include the necessary resistors for charging iDevices, including iPads.

Seriously, this would be good information if your hand wasn’t in the way. Think about camera angles next time.

Robert Schlotterbeck I don’t comment much on YT vids but definitely was gonna say the same thing. Hand was in the way far too much. Also the autofocus of the camera kept focusing on his hand and blurring the board. If the autofocus hadn’t been so bad I might not have minded the hand as much. Agree though that the commentary is pretty decent tho.

if i'm using an arduino diecimila, will it provide enough?

Would this work for Pi 4? The Pi4 wants about 3A.

Do you know if this, in addition with a 4000mah lipo battery will run a Raspberry Pi 3 with the official Raspberry Pi 7" screen? I know the 5v is good enough, but the Pi 3 needs about 2.5 amps and with the screen i guess it needs about 3 amps, do you know if it can provide that? I don't know a lot about batteries and stuff, but i'm making a little Raspberry Pi 'laptop', and was hoping this would be enough to keep it powered for a little while.

It's used on the Adafruit website to run the PiGrrl project kit, which uses a Pi and a color screen and speakers, so it sounds like it might very well work.

Forgot to put in my first reply, but let me know how that project goes, and if it works or not!

I do know that if you go on the FAQ for Raspberry the pi only uses like 1.5amps it's recommended for 2.5 for the screen as well.

2.5 amps is just for headspace correct me if im wrong lol my pi pda of death consumes 470-600-1200ma at 5.2 v its the voltage thats the problem not the amps and yes it has a 5 inch touchscreen and is powered by a 14000mah quad cell battery . the keyboard draws 70ma so its not alot alot basically just a glorified pocket chip that i use to kick everyone off the wifi.

How does it let you know if your battery is low

Bardvark idk perhaps when the voltage drops below the recommended operational voltage.

The Red LED is next to the battery JST port and indicates when the battery voltage is below 3.2VDC

do you know if it's possible to connect a lightning cord for the iPhone directly to the powerboost? i'm trying to get rid of the USB

Old post but yes, if you were to cut a lightning cable and wire the 5v and ground directly to the outputs that would work for charging. The hard part is that last I checked is that Apple brand lightning cables don't have color coded wires on the inside and its hard to tell which one is 5 volts and ground. If you have a multimeter you can probably find out which is what with the use of the continuity function and an online pinout sheet.

Just put a 3.7v 1500mAh lipo battery in this and the chip started smoking and smelling bad... Think I killed it... Adafruit is getting on my nerves 😤
